The trouble is that it's too damn easy to deploy this crap. All I have to do is change one line of code and literally thousands of messages will display my stupid pictures. It also adds the image automatically to every new message. Makes spam way too easy. ...and the moment you do, everyone that doesn't wish to see them, puts you on ignore. Problem solved. I'd do the same thing to someone who put the IMG tags in the body of messages over and over too. _____________________

I voted no. Ironically, Enabran, your siggy pic made me laugh my ass off and now I'm beginning to second guess myself. Here's the secret with that, though. It's hilarious the first and second times. But after that it's just groan-worthy. And that's the case with all the others, too. _____________________

When re-enabling the signature formatting, Jeff Linden also turned on the ability to add IMG tags to our signatures (they were ignored in the past). Already we are seeing banner ads on some signatures. Should they be allowed? I can't freaking STAND them. Since past forums allowed them I found the SL forums a refreshing change by not having them. I hate scrolling past them. I hate posts that have bigger pictures than they do content. In crappy games with no custom content they were the only way to really display your creativity so I could at least put up with them. But here I'd rather people have their ass in game using that creativity to make interesting stuff. <grins> So yeah, that's a big no from me. -Sun (off to make a sig now ![]() |

I want to point people to the thread where Jeff said the put it on.
And my first 2 words where; "Oh, no!" /108/da/70987/2.html#post738257 That sums it nicely up how i really feel about sig images. Just useing this short time that the lindens keep it on, to bring some attention to the Hurricane Relief. _____________________

I've also enabled inline [IMG]codes in your signature, so now you can use images in your signature. I hope everyone will enjoy it and use it responsibly, because otherwise I will get into trouble for enabling it! TURN SIGS OFF IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM. Putting huge images in your signatures, even as a joke, is exactly what we were NOT supposed to do. Be an adult, ffs.... If someone decides to abuse it, report them. Making a huge fucking thing about it and abusing [IMG]tags just because you can is exactly what you're claiming to be against. You say it makes spamming too easy. YOU are the only ones spamming. Grow up. _____________________

I do want to see signatures. Without images. Then you're certainly not helping matters, are you? You have to scroll past your own signature to see posts now, don't you? They won't turn off the option just because you've decided to whine about it. _____________________

I voted yes. I think if they are limited to a certain height and width as well as file size I am cool with it.

Simply, IMG sigs are too much of a pain in the ass if they are not automatically moderated by the forum software.
Having to have moderated sig images on another forum, myself, of people who pretty much already KNOW better, is a pain in and of itself. This forum? Wow. _____________________

I'm pretty sure you can make crazy long sigs using text too. I think there's a character limit. Also, I don't think you can post infinity symbols -- they get turned into question marks (infinity symbols are much fatter than most characters) And anyway, text wraps. _____________________

Where does it say you cannot put large animated images? The point is that by allowing them, when they never have before, they are just opening up the door for a lot of abuse. Even the non-abusing images are distracting - especially in quantity once you have a thread filled with them. Raising the point and illustrating it is not being childish - hwoever, your angry bitter rant is. _____________________

Yes what you say is true Cristiano...but in my mind the time has com for LL to let the forums be all that they can be - including enabling the Reputation Featured. When violations of the TOS are seen, we have the ability to report the offensive material - and thus LL will be altered. I'm in favor of self-moderation... ![]() ![]() ![]() _____________________
