Actually, we made an announcement earlier about this.

The reason we shut it down is that apparently the current version of our forum software contains some interesting... bugs that did not appear to be very dangerous, but out of concern I disabled the parsing of VBulletin codes in the signatures while I figured out what else could be broken.

A bit of research has helped determine that they're not really THAT dangerous. So with a little trepidation, but out of deference to you all, I've re-enabled the signatures. Don't break it, please!

... or rather, please let me know how you broke it. ;)

The forum upgrade will come in time, but it is not one of our highest priorities, and I'd rather minimize forum downtime if possible.

Thanks for being patient with us!

Jeff, why can we not have forum signatures like other MMORPGs forums? THe picture ones, these are hosted off site.. so it would not take up space on the LL side.. just curious..

There was an earlier reason, I think, but it was a while ago. While I was looking through the forum settings I decided that it's not any less secure than some of the things we've already allowed.

So as a matter of fact I have enabled that as well.

Oh, no!

Well let me grab this opportunity. I'm renting out my new sigline banner space. For 10kL$ you will get 1 month of banner space and i promise to make 100 posts on general. Banners no bigger then height 64, width 512. And must follow the communtity standards. The 10k L$ will go towards Hurricane Relief.

Yeah. There's the announcement.

It sure would be neat to have, you know, an actual explanation for why they've done this.

I dunno. I'd rather them focus on fixing the problem rather than waste time responding to the unwaranted chaos.
