Do you think signatures should allow images?

They are external links - they can only limit the size for internal images.

Well, so long as really obnoxious pics aren't allowed, sure. I've seen too many forums where some of the posters stuck so many things in their sigs the damned things were a page unto themselves, eek!

Exactly the problem. It's a real usability issue.

That is precisely the problem - how are they supposed to limit that? They are external images, so they have no control over their size. It's a moderation nightmare, and will just make these forums more difficult to read. The small benefits the IMG tags would add is just not worth how disruptive they are.

If only the actual dimensions of the sigs were regulated. But they're not. It's pretty stupid, you can insert a giant-assed image into your sig and completely screw the flow of the tables.

I vote for the character options.

The sick thing, Cristiano, is that I can put all of the images in my sig. But I will exercise restraint and put just two.

That was my exact problem. It's because the image I had in mind is the dimensions of a theatrical movie print (without the frame). I'd be a poster with a poster! =)

They would look good if we were forced to follow guidelines - maybe the Lindens should host the images for us - allow you to have one banner of a certain dimension and file size - anything beyond that is DENIED.

No yours is as distracting as the rest of them, however well done it is. Images stuck right in the middle of the flow of the text immediately draw your eyes to them. Great for ads, bad for trying to read the forums.

I think that's going to be in vogue now, Altruima. :)

I take it I'm the only one that is really enjoying Enabran's oh so large and impressive sig images.

I didn't originally have it there, I added it as a point to this thread. I don't want an image in my signature - I was just showing the potential for them, though Enabran has done an even better job. It's not about the quality of Fran's image, which is subtle - it is still distracting.

in tso we were allowed to have images on our signatures but they restricted the size in pixels and file size (in MB or whatever) this allowed fast loading and pretvented really big one sthat would just be annoying.

they really need to do that

OMGZ IM GOING TO MAKE A TSO STYLE SIGNATURE

What about the IMG tags we can already use? I can put them in posts already. People generally use restraint on their own.

If I wanted to spam the boards with huge images just to piss you off, I would have to make just as many posts, reguardless to whether the IMG tag appeared in the message, or in my quote.

Lol.. I did say I knew you were making a point.. But anyway..

I don't find it distracting at all.. I know there isn't, but if there was a way to restrict it to such images I'd be all for it.. Maybe an option to turn off sigs OR sig pictures?

The trouble is that it's too damn easy to deploy this crap. All I have to do is change one line of code and literally thousands of messages will display my stupid pictures. It also adds the image automatically to every new message. Makes spam way too easy.
