Thread Necromancy is worse then real necromancy cuz you can't force the threads to kill people for you. So it's best to let them die.

I agree. However, I just saw this today. Some useful information therein, and a very good supporting reason for many of the 'omg plz don't shut down teh forumz' posts.

Or is it? Was this situation ever agreed upon in a specific direction, partially in part due to the conversation over the moral issues behind the topic on these forums?

Anyway, the way I see it, (analogy incoming omg) - I dislike bugs. There is a bee in my room. It is flying around. It is a bee, therefore a type of bug. I can kill it, or remove it. It is in my room, and what I do with it is my choice. While I'm at it, I may even get this crazy idea to see where the bee comes from, especially if there is more than one. Let's say I eventually find the hive. Well, once I've found it, I learn that it's not on my property. Well, seeing as I dislike bugs and all - I go about making sure the bees can't make it onto my room from the hive. This involves an overly complicated amount of research to discover the type of the bee-offenders, as well as a finantial investment that involves hiring some crazy guy in a labcoat to make an anti-bee formula to solve my problem. In the long run of things I discover that my neigbor is harboring an evil plot to irritate me via my dislike of bugs, thus completing one step in a long line of steps toward world-domination, market control, rubber-band powered kittens, or whatever - and STFU, this is my story.

Analogy aside - same thing, only using the real issues presented in this thread. Someone ran into a situation. Did they take the time to investigate the situation and figure out what it was? Do people pay for their land, thus investing in it? Do they, owning their property, have a right to keep things they do not want, or dislike, off of their property?

If you answered 'no' to any of the above non-analogy questions, and dislike your room full of bees, I'm going to be over here installing a behive with a fairly accesible route to a conveniently open pathway into your room.

Only, I dislike bugs, remember?

I'll get someone else to do it for me and keep me informed on the situation. No one will know the wiser. Meanwhile, I'll just revel over here in my world-dominating collection of market-controlling, rubber-band powered kittens, kthx.

I may have taken the elaborate, extensive 'contribute something to thread', (with a side of 'try to be entertaining'), way in my particular bump, but there was a real question about whether or not this 'issue' was 'resolved' in there toward the beginning. ;3

Ah, jesus... I just spent half an hour reading this thread to find out that it was started over a year ago and ended in 2005. Thanks a hell of a lot.

I remember going hunting for these scanners, I saw them, tiny as could be, flying along at high speed. You had to have highlight transparent and view beacons on. It was something to do .

Ahh, the good old days.
