From: Io Zeno I wasn't here when they had the old traffic system, was that any better? I know I've heard people complain that it's removal has killed Events. I would rather the system be flawed, yet beneficial to some good, than these endless chairs.
And it's also true that for a new user, it really gives SL a bad first impression, when the popular places list takes you to some godawful place full of zombies, this is just stupid from a business pov for LL. No, it wasn't any better, the top places were always the same, though camping chairs only developed in the last year or so since I was away from SL. They weren't present back in the "old days." But at least with the old system dwell would give you SOME cash. The developer incentives were great if you could get them, but dwell provided some L$ to everyone's stipend. Now there's no benefits and no point and it still sucks.

From: aEoLuS Waves I kinda like the money trees.. That way ppl come get some Lindens and move on.. No braindead campers and I feel good for spending arround the 500 a week to the "new people" 30 days or less). I SO agree with you aEoLus. I love having my money tree and seeing newbies come and pick pick pick, some are regulars for the 30 days and some are much more intermittent. It doesn't increase your land traffic because they are there for such a short time. I have a dedicated sectioned off part of my land just for that lil tree I think it is a nice way to give back to the community and help new people coming into SL

From: Whimsycallie Pegler I keep telling people that what we need is a group of 20 to 30 people that will hang out in sims with more then ten camping chairs. Just hang out at the neighbors. Once the owners start learning what it is like not to be able to use the Sim resources they may be more willing to talk.
An anti-camper protest group. We could hold parties in whatever sim needs us everyday. Flash Mobbing camping chair locations, lol I like it!

Something i'd like to kick in based on some response i've heard:
You don't help a newbie by having them sit on a chair for a measely amount of money. You help a newbie by setting up programs to help them figure out building, scripting, animating, texturing, clothing making, etc. All giving them 200L$ a day (if they choose to not move and essentially not play SL) is teach them how to clog the grid and make them think they can live entirely off of camping chairs.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a life time.
No there's no "I'm just helping newbies" in this, if you wanted to just help newbies you'd set up programs like the above or use a money tree, what camping chairs are about entirely, is dwell and gaming the popular places list. Has absolutely nothing to do with helping newbies besides as a side effect.

Anyone with any sense realizes early on that the camping pads aren't worth the trouble and leaves. Camping pads only entice the newbies who think "WOAH! Free money!"

I agree ... earlier today in fact in the "Revamp the way Popular Places is calculated" thread I mentioned the same thing about how we are giving this as our first impression and representation of ourselves to everyone who is new to Second Life. The old traffic system had its flaws and was certainly gamed too, but at least in those days when a place was popular and had lots of green dots you knew you could find actual people, rather than the lifeless zombies like we see inhabiting most nowadays.

Know the saddest part? The two people that started this griefing campaign committed numerous TOS violations to harass me... They don't even own land in the sim, the jerks are people who started renting a plot 5 days ago. That's pathetic..

Skimming through...

So, grief the grievers, lag the laggers and harass the harassers? Now to understand this, you want people gone from others land in the sim so you can have people come to your land in the sim... Interesting.
Yeah, I got bored about halfway through and started skimming...
For the longtimers here... are there any original threads? I know mine wasn't.

Obviously. The Reader's Digest version: We want people who are AFK and slumped over in camping chairs to leave so people can come in and actually ENJOY Second Life.

For the last few days you and your cohert who are both brand new renters renting the land from the same company have done nothing but plot about how to harass and annoy me.
Nobody was ever locked out of that sim, period. You know you wanted to rent that plot next to me because it was a popular place with a high traffic rating, yet you want to complain about it. You are a renter with little to no vested intrest in the area, you know you moved into a busy sim when you could have gotten a plot in a dead sim for alot cheaper.
This entire thread is a cheap attempt to get attention for yourself and start your little anti-camper group. Either you are the dumbest renter in the world renting land in sims you dont want to be in or you are just stirring up crap. A word was never said to you before you started this thread and your griefing campaign.
If LL is worth a grain of salt you will be suspended for the numerous TOS violations you have committed.

My "cohert" is not mine, he's another person in the sim who's been there long before me. I rented the parcel completely unaware of who you were until I moved in and saw how shit the sim performs. Incidentally I pay cheap for my land so that's not an issue. My vested interest is that the parcel is now mine, and where I'm building things of value, you have an ugly casino that lags everything up. I started this thread as a joke cos I thought my screenshot was funny. You turned it into a "campaign." But I'm fully capable of elevating it there as well since you're an unreasonable bully. Finally, there have been no violations, if there had been I would've already been punished. You're really saddening.

This is not an opinion but an observation of LL behavior when it comes to land issues like the one being so hotly debated in this thread. Historically LL supports the rights of landowners to do as they wish on their plot. If the landowner fills the sim so no one else can get in so be it, same with excessive lag. Other landowners in the sim have little to no recourse with LL unless they can prove something is actually crashing the sim or overhanging onto their land (and LL response to this is rather on again off again). I have observed no indication that this position by LL has changed in over 2 years in game. The only real solution is to either work it out between yourselves or one of you move elsewhere.

Your vested intrest is a weeks of rent... Mine is hundreds of dollars.. I have been there long before either of you and if either of you didn't like it you could have rented land elsewhere. You posted private IMs, put signs on MY land and constantly harassed me in any way you could dream up. Your not a land owner, your just a miserable griefer. With room for 20+ extra avatars in that sim you have no reason to complain. And if you dont like the lag, rent land in a sim that isnt used to its potential.

We're done speaking until you address me in a proper tone and decide to be less of a jerk and more of a nice guy. Adios.

The picture was taken across from your property. It was a single picture. I didn't mention your name at all until you came in here yourself. There are no IMs. Care for some more misrepresentation with your whine?

I think he meant this thread in particular, or even the General forum. His posts go back to February.
And as much as I am anti-camper, the camperhost is right - the IM conversation was posted long before his initial post in this thread.

Ah, the other griefer finally shows his face. This thread has started as a personal attack and has continued to be. Shame on you jerks for your underhanded tactics and shame on LL for allowing you to so blatently violate the rules as you have in this thread and get away with it up to this point..

I'm also curious as to how you managed to miss my last two obesely large posts in this thread =] This started as, no, not a personal attack, but rather a 'business' attack, in reality. We are not protesting you, Mr. Columbia, we are protesting what your ITEMS do, and what your services do to this sim we're trying to share.
