Seriously, I've defended you guys a lot, but get your shit together. Stop breaking SL with your newbie pawns. LF I'm inclined to agree. The merely "offensive" stuff, I don't care about. People do offensive stuff, get over it. This is Second Life; you can always go somewhere else. But this kind of grid-breaking thing is both juvenile and stupid. Not in a perjorative way, but literally the act of someone unintelligent and unwise. I am fast approaching my 1yr here in SL and am dieing to see if LL does ANYTHING about W-Hat....(the ENTIRE group) after all I've seen in my 'near year'. I won't hold my breath. But in all fairness they'll just come back under some other dumbass names and groups and then It'll start all over. _____________________

It appears the resident action crashed the space server, which brings all the servers down. Ian is restarting the grid, and it looks like it will be about 3 hours until we're fully open again.

I worry for builds lost to prim overload on parcels causing object return. For us at After Dark I know we lost 500 prims or so of our build in less than a minute. but we were fortunate we had a 2300 free prim buffer. Others with smaller lands plots or running closer to their limits may well have lost everything.
Whatever this was it spawned 2500 objects in less than the 1 minute I have autoreturn set to. Scary and tragic stuff this. |

A few days ago i was wandering down the road that pleasantly embraces the Sylvina Bay when i came upon the accused perp in this thread firing missiles at neighbouring properties. The same fellow, though banned from the spa, has littered extensively as noted in abuse reports. that day i asked him why they do these things, this Something Awful group (the website from which W-Hat sprang). He affirmed that he was a W-Hatter and that they did these things because they had cast themselves in the role of school-yard bullies of SL.
This brings to mind a question: What do schoolyard bullies lack that makes them do these things? Anyone want to venture an answer? if everyone quits giving them lunch money and apologizing for their actions, would that help them learn new behaviours? (i.e. folks that sell cheap to let them make a mint off of the land relinquished by harassed neighbours?) _____________________

You build the w-hat killer, and i'll put one on my land. Well, hard to simply detect groups, but easy enough to make a script and start something akin to the Internet "blacklist" of known spam-sending email servers. Have it load a notecard of "known troublemakers", distribute it widely. Nothing that can't be done now, but... I'm friends with some W-hats. Quite a few of them are generally cool people. But it sure as hell didn't sound like "an accident by a new guy" in #secondlife, and a voluntary "avatar blacklist" sounds like its time has come... sure, alt accounts, but it'd shorten the amount of time any one account was usable. _____________________
