Hi Winter!
Please take a look at the Burning Life Wiki - there you can find out all the details, such as who is involved, how to participate and where to sign up to volunteer (As well as lots of other things relevant to Burning Life!) Hope to see you there! -Phaylen _____________________

BL noob questions
08-18-2008 18:02
I was at BL '07 when I was still wearing noob hair and I loved every minute of it. This year I want to build a camp.
When can we get our spots? How big are they? How many prims do we get? |

This will be my second BL....I can't wait as my first event was a blast. About how long is it taking to hear back about our volunteer applications?
I'd also like to hear more on the camps....will keep my eyes peeled for the details. See you all again soon! Starr |

One of the three stickies at the top of this forum's thread list includes the statement "Welcome to the 2008 Burning Life Forums."
There is no "Burning Life Forums", there is a forum called "Linden Sponsored Events" and three stickied threads about Burning Life. Possibly there should be a sub-forum for each Linden sponsored event. If there are two or more Linden sponsored events running simultaneously it would help make discourse run a coherent path. At any rate, it would good if the people running this set of three stickied threads could keep the distinction between a forum and a three threads clearly in mind. _____________________

Starr As I seem to recall, 07 was a complete PR disaster, with nothing but drama, censorship, and petty politics from the people in charge. (rivalled only by the censorship and anti-child drama seen in the roll-up to SL5B). Who is in charge this year? is it the same people who were in charge in 07? _____________________

Burning Man - Burning Life

Burning Man is a celebration of all that is psychedillic. Now I understand why Second Life works the way it does.

Will Nipples be allowed, Kid avatars, Goreans, BDSMers... will you respect your volunteers or will you ride rough shod over them and milk them for everything you can, then boot them at the last second.

...If there are two or more Linden sponsored events running simultaneously it would help make discourse run a coherent path.... ![]() It's great to see LL using the Forums for things like this--that is, things for which they're really effective. Speaking of coherency, though, I'm baffled by the array of wikis and blogs and other URLs associated with this event. Possibly an annotated version of the "Related Links" section of http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Burning_Life_2008 could be useful--assuming somebody understands what each of these things is about. Which brings me to: Please, dear god, NO ADDITIONAL blogs or wikis or Flickr groups or Lively rooms or whatever anybody may dream up as media about this event; the communication channels seem quite diffuse enough! |

NO ADDITIONAL blogs or wikis or Flickr groups or Lively rooms Also, four or five distinct inworld groups could be created for group chats. ![]() _____________________

I'm wondering about this, as well. I'd love to volunteer, or initiate a camp with some friends, but won't until this is clarified. Because it's kind of important. |

2008, omg....great

I loved 2007 burning life, but got lagged to pieces at the burning.....
hope to build an even better floral display this year... got new trees and flowers, and hope to make a little oasis in the desert. I would have volunteered to help with the building, but it seems the designs are so strictly briefed that there would be no room for my style. I understand the idea behind it, but that kinda cuts out builders design skills..... they become pure technicians. |

Removing the mature content from Burning Life would rather defeat the purpose of such an event. Last year, they had separate sims for PG and Mature.. I'd love to see this sort of thing again.

I hope to hell that ------- Names removed by Katt Linden -------------
has no role in this year's Burning Life; last year's was a total cock-up, and it was largely due to his immaturity and lack of organisational ability. I would have to seriously question LL's commitment to Burning Life if he has any position of responsibility for it. |

It clearly is a question, Katt, although not punctuated with a mark.
