The thing that highly amuses me here is that 16th to 17th century is looong past medieval times, which ran from the 800s up to the 12th or topmost 13th century. If we wanna be lax, we can include the 14th, but I think Columbus might object. ;)

Why would he? He wasn't born until the 15th century (my apologies, really couldn't resist...)
I think the 16th/17th century thingee is more or less the American Renfair period (I mean, really, MUST have the 17th or you cannot have D'artagnan...).

But in all seriousness, people are teazing here, but it does boil down to "their sim, their imagination". They get to choose their narrative there, as they're the ones who paid for the privilege of doing so. But, it's a wide wide SL world, why hang about in a place you don't care for?

Someday… People will be able to judge you by who you are, which is a being worthy of a chance to prove yourself and show them who you are and not to base it on what you look like or how people perceive you to be based on what you have, how you look, what you wear….

Dragon- why would you care what lowly humans think?
Oh- I see why the lock would occur- hmm- would be nice to continue this. Seems could be as much fun as whine with out whine.

I propose this to be "Be Kind to Dragonfolk Week".

Are trolls allowed in Avillon? I mean REAL Trolls. Not Human Poser wannabe Trolls.

I have not seen one when exploring incognito in the past. I hide in shame as a ferrel wolf to prevent conflict, but felt dirty having to hide in fear. >_<

When I take the form of a Dragon, I am not open to discussion. Hell, I cannot even understand what those tine people say. Well they do scream before I roast them. And taste like chicken.

I wouldn't take it past the 11th, to be honest. It's been a while since I earned my BA in medieval history and I haven't used it for anything worthwhile, so my memory is a little dim, but I think I recall setting the ending at the end of the 11th. It's pretty open for interpretation, though - it's not like there was an abrupt transition or anything.

At any rate, I've run around Avilion as a dragon without experiencing any problems at all. In fact, I went with a friend, and she and I wandered about pretending to be old jewish dragons looking for a place to retire. I was a CPA, she was a fabric saleswoman. We just hit 1600 years old and were cashing in our IRAs and moving South. My Yiddish is a little rusty, but I think we pulled it off, and everyone we met up with caught on and had a great time! I called the men "Food" and the women "Grandaughter", but since they weren't kosher, I didn't eat any of them.

It was one of the best RP experiences I've ever had. I recommend Avilion.

The OP needs to chill out. You aren't a pure bred dragon. You're a dude RP'ing on SL. It's their sim. If you can't adjust your RP to fit their rules, then you aren't doing a very good job of it at all. Please try harder.

Not all breeds of dragon eat humans. For example, foolish Gold Dragons have a slight interest in humankind. They do seem like a waste a lot of the time, but I believe they have great potential.

Not all dragons are "evil".

...still checking - don't know if I can get in before the lock or not, but it's looking more promising.

Which is really what I'm hoping for, as the opening post for this thread really does seem a bit inflammatory, and I'm wondering if the forum moderator will simply lock this thread, or "disappear" it as well, as some seem to have done in the past...

Damn, I'd like to be a part of this thread - will just have to see what I can arrange.

Eating those lil people is not evil, it is just eating. Sone think it is evil to eat the lil ones, but hey I heard people eat lambchops so what is evil? Children are tastier anyway. So watch out miss sideways....

Another thing - they weren't asking you not to be a dragon. they were just asking you to put on some pants. If I go to a fancy restaurant in RL, they might ask me to wear a tie. I don't really want to wear a tie. They're uncomfortable and a giant PITA when you eat because they always want to dange in your soup or just generally get in the way.

If I wanted to go to that restaurant, though, I'd wear the danged tie and not complain about it. It's their restaurant. It's the same thing here. The owners of Avilion asked you to wear some different clothes. They weren't discriminating against you. You could be whatever sort of 2-legged dragon you wanted to be, as long as you covered up. All they asked for was a loincloth, for God's sake.

If you conform and appear in a pure breed form, which I do not always since it is awkward being a large creature around humanoid type beings, and have them say, “OMG do not eat me!?!?! LAWL!!!”. I prefer to change form and take on a dragon furry humanoid form, which I am comfortably and commonly. It is like if you went to a different country and tried to learn their language and attempt to show some courtesy while also keeping some of your own traditions and customs. For one country to ask an ambassador or foreigner to abandon all their traditions and abandon their own is highly disrespectful.

We have a restaurant here that if you wear a tie, they cut it off just below the knot and nail it to the wall.

... we now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Protip:
Try not to go this way. Real life won't work with your argument. If someone is butt naked on a Zebra in Africa and comes to a small midwest county you can bet dollars to donuts they will be told to put something on. :)

You're the ambassador of Dragonland?

At any rate, when people from other countries come here, we don't expect them to abandon their traditions and cultures, but we do expect them to follow our laws - such as wearing clothes.

In Avilion, which is well situated for someone playing a dragon, why weren't you in your full dragon form? That seems like the worst place to wear your dragon/humanoid/furry form.

I might wear a tie to that restaurant just for the joy of having someone free me from the infernal thing. I'm wearing one right now and seriously considering trying to sneak it off while nobody is looking.

Chap, it's not a country asking ambassadors to abandon tradition, it's a Second Life sim, paid for with their hard-earned and therefore entirely subject to their rules, however much you feel hard done by.

What you choose to RP and they choose to entertain are two completely different things.

If you want a RL comparison minus the ambassadorial stuff, if you were to visit my house and I asked you to take off your muddy shoes before coming in, would you comply or would you moan about me trampling all over your right to wear muddy shoes where you damn well pleased?

Only one mentioned the pants. They were not an admin. Just a resident I asked. Others residents said I was fine too. I got in trouble when I brought it to the administrators attention.

Why should I wear a loincloth like some wild beast or primitive. That is rather disrespectful in general or in a role play. Do I have to earn my rights? Is it that sort of situation? I guess that could be fun. :P
