Avilion - Sims This is a group of sim with a theme of fantasy, magic, lore, history, beauty, and prejudice. Group Owned: Malakh Giles Serenity Sieyes Keltash Myriam Sinthia Sieyes Prejudice in fantasy type sims is impressive. Basic Real Facts of Secondlife 1) Sims and Land are privately owned minus the LL owned land. 2) The land owners if having sole rights to it make the rules Conclusion, don’t expect anything to be fair, just, logical, or reasonable, because laws and rules are arbitrary. There is an intended purpose or reason for their creation, but always keep in mind rules and laws have nothing to do with ethics or morality. This fact is elementary. Avilion Laws State: “Clothing worn upon these sims must be medieval in nature (16th-17th century).” - Already you see that a strict dress code is in the laws, but this is a fantasy sim. Medieval during Earths 16th-17th century? You mean the one without magic, elves, orcs, and other fanciful creatures? No, so it is not a “strict” interpretation of the law. If it is a “strict” then fantasy type dress would not be allowed. “Clothing is NOT optional. If you walk on two legs, you WILL have clothing” - Fair enough, but how much clothing. Clearly the group does not like Gorean people, and I am for it, because I am Dragonkin and friends with furs. Gorean are fur haters. They are not welcome in their world plain and simple. “Please note, this is a mature sim, however, that doesn't mean you can put on leather straps and pasties and call it clothing.” - I do in fact wear leather and straps, but when asking others on the sim all that I asked said I was fine, and one said I should put on pants, since I do wear provocative apparel, but keep in mind I am dragonkin and of fantasy so why would I conform to standard dress code? Let me summarize what I learned. If you are a true pure breed dragon you are not welcome at Avilion. Instead they rather have posers that are mortal humans acting as if they are dragons. That is their choice, but it is outrageous that in fantasy realms Dragons and sometimes furs are not allowed with strict rules, behaviors, and dress codes that are arbitrary and almost always preconditioned to humans prejudice, phobias, and fears. Furs are in fact far more from the realm of fantasy then a human in 17th 18th century clothing acting as if they are in Lord of The Rings. I will leave with you my chat with Malakh Giles. Yes, I am speaking harshly and condescending, but that is because I am sick of feeling like a second rate citizen in second life in fantasy realms created by humans. -------------------- [Edited to remove chat logs. It is against the Community Standards to post chat logs.] http://secondlife.com/corporate/cs.php -- Katt Linden ---------- And I of Course was banned for speaking out in such a manner. I was wearing clothing too, just not the same clothing every other human was wearing. Surely there must be other beautiful fantasy realms that are not so strict and welcome all to join them or hang out? ----- From Katt Linden: Posting chat transcripts is in violation of the Second Life Community Standards. Hmmm, at a conservative estimate, you are going to need to edit approximately 99% of your post to stay within the TOS... And someone who stumps up for a sim is entitled to set the rules, however iniquitous they may or may not be, surely.
Oh and IBTL

What about Wyrms? Isn't that a dragon fantasy sim?
And I agree their sim, their rules... Although I've been to Avilon Ballroom, and although the dress code is formal, it is certainly not 16th or 17th century..

Wyrms is a good place, but... even they have some rules as if they are run by humans not dragons. It is an pretty good place.

He owned the sim, he pays for it. It is his right to make his own rules. He is opening his sim up to people who wish to go there as long as they follow the rules.
You don't like the rules, don't go there. Or maybe buy your own sim and you can make up the rules you would like to follow.

Fair enough. Will a URL post do? I might have a screen shot of it, if not I can get one.

I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you, but although avatars may not always appear to be human, everything in SL is run by humans. Call up all your dragonkin folk, buy a sim, and make up your own rules.

A real dragon would never leave when told. This would be a rally cry for some pillagin and serf eating.

I'm starting to pull for this thread. I mean, where else would we learn of proper Victorian ladies' penchant for dragon fetishwear?

Surely everyone isn’t closed minded and conditioned so well. A drow women would wear nearly the same style. I am quite aware conditioned humans males are required to flinch at the sight of a male to assure that he is not gay.
