From: Mickey Vandeverre I don't mind shopping to decorate homes.....but I HATE shopping to decorate myself! I would kiss your feet for this service. Same here! Although I ADORE wearing fashionable clothing RL, I detest clothes shopping. (I'm blessed with a shopaholic Mother who is a true fashionista. She wears an outfit once or twice then I am the lucky recipient of it! Woot!) Anyway...YES!!! That is a service I would DEFINITELY love!!! I've seen outfits in an ad and would LOVE to know where to get the hair on the model, for example.

From: Prawnyloks Parker Hate to do this to you after all the effort you've been putting in, but is there something wrong with the Merchants Page? It won't let me in now. Just keep getting "Not Found Error 404"! Please tell me it's not a "Mac thing". I've tried with Safari and Firefox, same thing each time Hopefully it's just a server glitch! Aw, crud. I hope not. Quick request: can a few people check this link and let me know if it's working for you: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dfz3dk33_0d2dvsbgxForce a reload of the page, to make sure it's not a cached version that you're seeing. I was thinking about moving it to a proper website anyway, rather than just Google Docs, but if people are getting 404s on it, I might have to move sooner rather than later. /me starts looking for free webhosts...

I apologize for not noting that...but otoh....LOVED your shop! And I haven't taken off the Broomstick skirt/halter top outfit since I got it!!!

OK, that's two 404s, and I'm not happy with even one. I'll get onto some webhosting.
ETA: I've applied for a free hosting site that looks pretty good. Just waiting on approval now.

I apply different filter or contrats level on my main fabric using photoshop. To be short, i play with the "fx" fonction on photoshop layer. The key with that is to keep a psd files with all the different layer so anytime I can come back to it to change the color or something else easily.

New blog for the group
08-23-2008 10:24
OK, rather than setting up a website I've gone ahead and set up a Wordpress blog for the group. Please bookmark the following: http://bizownernetwork.wordpress.com/For now, I haven't yet transferred all the info from the Merchants Page (I want to get *some* building time inworld today!) but please read the posting guidelines page, and the main post there. My intention behind this is for each of us to be able to post to the blog if we find a useful link or program or what-have-you. Eventually, perhaps it can become a place where we can publicise our new products, too. I've already created several categories for posts (mostly the same ones as featured on the Merchants Page) and for those of you unfamiliar with Wordpress, I've explained on the posting guildelines page how to use them when making a post. If you want to be given posting abilities, please send me a PM here on the forum, containing your email address, and I will add you. (I'm not sure if you also need a Wordpress blog of your own in order to post; I'm pretty sure you do. The info on that is also in the posting guidelines tab. Make sure you go to wordpress.com, not wordpress.org!) - ETA: yes, you do need a Wordpress blog, but I can invite you when I add you to the blog. Right, I am *done* with organising for the day. I'm logging inworld and I wanna PLAY! ETA: I'm going to put the blog URL into my forum signature, so it's always available.

Your Item Descriptions
08-23-2008 10:24
I'm going through inventory, to pull out some room settings....omg!
Here's what I'm noticing....some designers do NOT put their store name on the inventory item, and it makes it impossible for me to find it. Like my favorite rug store....they label every rug with abbreviated names.....they don't even put the word RUG on the item.
So it's impossible to find among 12,000 items....unless I go through the whole entire list, which is entirely unorganized. I would really like to pull out about 10 of their rugs right now....but I can't find them....because they have odd names in the description.
Are you taking full advantage of your item description? Your store name needs to be there! So does the name of the item...like "end table" or Dining table"......One of my favorite stores is Plush Pod.....all I have to do, is type that in to my inventory.....and I can see all their items I have....so handy! Plus....once I've started pulling out all their items....it reminds me just how much I love them.....so I go buy more! lol
Everything else....without a good description.....might be lost in that inventory forever. It also helps in the "show in search" feature....once I started checking that on all items....traffic picked up....the first day I used it.....traffic doubled.

Thank You Czari! It was so nice to finally meet you. Czari and I are going to collaborate. Her ceiling fan completed a room setting, perfectly.....and I plopped out her new futon. I don't have time to learn ceiling fan construction, right now. Get yourself a collaboration partner It will be fun to see her things sell, too.

I always put Rha! at the beginning of the name of my stuff sometimes I need to abbreviate parts of the name because fitting it all in would be too much
but the most important stuff is there
with an inventory over 30K I know how hard it is to find stuff in there and I have always liked it when ppl name their stuff with their store name
I like your idea of putting a notecard with where each thing came from in an ad, however in some cases that might not work, as a lot of the stuff I use when modeling (stuff not made by myself that is) is usually discontinued stuff that I picked up at sales or freebies no longer available
I guess even putting that on the card would help ppl not trying to find it
I think I will start doing that, and slowly update the already existing stuff

sound like me amar
I decided that making a shirt was not enough of a challenge, because after all it was only extending downward what I already knew how to do (downward as in the shirt is longer heh)
so... the one thing that has been eluding me since I got into making clothing, and it is something I really like in RL
is sparkly type stuff (think .... if a top was covered in glitter hehe)
well, I never quite got the knack for creating that effect in ps.... till now, I was determined to get it right, and so far I am pleased with my results
nothing loaded into world yet, so nothing to show you as of yet... ( I might upload to the beta grid and do a couple snapshots to put on the blog, as a "what I am working on" kind of post
if I can pull my nose out of ps long enough LOL

Congrats on the designer tag Amar and i saw the notice, it was great I did my weekend challenge earlier today. I've always liked to learn with prims but never been really interested with furniture. So i saw that there was a class today on 1 prim furniture and i attended. After the class we had a small amount of homework to do. I had to make a picture frame out of one prim and add a pose ball to my couch i made in class. So as part of my challenge i did something i would never really have done otherwise and i'm completely glad i did. I've posted a picture of the picture frame and sofa.

I always name my furniture with DbNR at the beginning and what it is i.e a chair rug etc, also i try to name it what set it is from, i.e Abbey or Candy Stripes.
I do have a couple of tips, hints helpfuls, whatever that some of you may not of heard of before, I have not used these to their full potential but for anyone just starting out (or a veteran)they may well save you a lot of L's and prims ...
Both are from Crystal Gadgets (if this is against forum policy, please let me know). 1st is the texture optimizer - allows you to upload multiple textures for the cost of 1. Then the Frame Wizard, allows you to add a frame to any prim (with multiple texture and size options) without addeing an extra prim. these are both available for free from crystal gadgets store, they come with great instructions too. The texture optimizer I have used but only for a 'yard sale' for all the images, saved me a few hunded in upload costs.

Well- to be honest- my "challenge" is only slightly expanding my knowledge- The only thing that makes it different is that I usually do gowns and this is very casual wear. What I am gaining is more practice in blending colors and using my photosourced textures as more realistic fabrics for SL.

congrats on working with prims rhianna saku that is cute... I like the effect on the bottom of the skirt here is a preview of the 2 things I am working on (beaded along the same lines as the shop till you drop shirt posted here earlier, plan more tshirts with other saying and such, all done via the one-at-a-time beading hehe (as slow as doing the real thing) http://rhadesigns.blogspot.com/this shirt, is combining a lot of stuff I am not familar with and I am very pleased with what I have done, it feels good to learn new things, and discover ways of doing things. (I don't take classes, I do look up tutorials, however these 2 shirts were not tutorial stuff, these were me trying new stuff and new ways of doing things) I am especially excited in how well the collar is working out, the 3d effect makes me go... "did I actually make that?!" hehe ever have those moments when things just seem to go right?
