Yep. I like Jojo's gift idea for those who place me into their profiles and think it is a nice gestureso i am going to send a notice to my group about that.

I am really interested to see the impact that the picks i got over the last 24 hours from friends will have on the ranking

i think having lots of picks also has another benefit. when someone does search for your store name or a key word in all search, this huge list of people with your picks is included. it is so fun to see them all! im not sure if this is true or not, but it would seem that someone might be inclined to visit a store when they see a pile of picks under the store info looking like an endorsement. with the pay for picks im not sure if this is true but i know it has influenced me a time or two.

Didn't we decide once that Picks only get counted if the account that has them in its profile has Payment Info On File? In other words an alt whose only mode of income is its main will never get counted by Search, even if its Picks page is full. The account has to have bought L$ from LL one time in order to be counted. I seem to remember testing this and corroborating it, but that was a year or so ago.

But jojo is right the picks showing up in search will be of benefit in that rspect too as well as at least for my friends who addd me their profiles are now walkig advertisements for me.

No. As long as an account has an html page, it counts as much as any other av with an html page. Back in that thread you are thinking of, it was found that some NPIOF accounts had html pages, and that creating a group causes it. Since then, I'm sure I've read that taking a Classified also causes it. Anyway, it's not whether not an account has PIOF or used - it's whether or not it has an html page.

Ok, just popped inworld, and added Eclectic, Blot, and Prawny. They are in another account, but she is premium and has a page. Also, I log this account in at least once a week, so the picks are good. Feel free to PM me if you want the account name so you can look up the picks.

I have a couple of spots left on another account. I'll IM you, 3ring, about what loaction you want in. Was there anyone else that was interested that I have missed?

Also, Prawny, since we are in the same business, and since you weren't sure how many spaces you have, if you would rather not swap with me, that is fine. If the picks are going to be in your main profile I can see that it might be confusing for your customers to have another low prim furniture store in your profile. Absolutely no hard feelings if you would rather swap with other people.

Added Nimue, Blot and Eclectic, have 1 spare that Am may take, but not sure if she has room in hers for me, lol.

I know we have similar stuff Nimue, but I think we're different enough to allow a swap

I will do some house cleaning Prawny - and i am trying to set my alts to be findable- but even though Adastra created a group yesterday- she is still a one liner in Search

Today's index update just occured, so check now. If the html page isn't listed, it'll require waiting until this time tomorrow. I don't know how long it takes the system to create a new page and the page to show in the search results, but I've seen "up to 2 or 3 days" mentioned.

Ok I thought you might like some info about how far up i moved with the new picks i asked friends to create.

I used two maiin keywords to test teh results of this.

The first word is accessories whichis a big keyword for me, 1/2 my store is still accessories.

Before asking people to add me to their picks I was at the bottom of page 6 on that search. I am now currently at the middle of page 5

The other keyword I used was vintage. With this keyword I havent actually moved at all in thesearch. I am not sure why this is the only thing i can think is that i dont have many items which use the keyword 'vintage' in their descriptions within the store.

These chagesare with 13 new picks to my store and dont show some of the new picks like those from you guys earlier today.

It is actually a particle so you can see it from every direction of the store.

After today's index update (soon after noon SLT) will probably be a better time to check the changes. I don't know when the picks were added but if some of them missed the page update (not the search system's index update) then they won't have made it into the index yet and won't affect the rankings.

An example of what I mean is my store's html page right now. If you view it in the search window, you'd assume that it's rankings are due to the page you see, but they are not. They are due to the previous version of the page. The page you can see now will affect the rankings after noon SLT today, when the index updates. I changed the page soon after yesterday's index update and, a few hours later, the changes were reflected in the page that you can see, but the search system hasn't crawled it yet. A couple of hours ago, I changed it again (one character). A couple of hours from now, the new change will be seen in the search box, BUT it still won't have been crawled by the search system. That comes after, and then the search system's index changes soon after noon SLT. That's when the page that I changed last night, and again this morning, will show an effect in the rankings.

The thing is, when changes to pages are made, there is a period when you can see the changed html page in the search box, but what you see is not yet affecting the rankings for the page. So, if you are not sure about the timing of the changes, don't automatically assume that the page you see in the search box is the page that is being ranked - it often isn't.

Btw, I used a NPIOF av to place a Classified yesterday. I want to see if an html page is created for it and, if it is, how long it lasts. The ad won't be renewed. I'll post here about it when I have the information.

I have to say folks if you havent asked your friends to consider adding your store to their picks this is a good way of moving up the search a little. Ifyou approach it in the right way i dont think friends would be offended.

I only approached genuine friends and just asked it they wouldnt mind considering it if they enjoy my store. I made it clear they didnt have to if they cant or didnt want to it. some took me up some didnt

I am greatful to those friends and those on this thread who took the time to help me it means a lot. I am realising more and more how much my store in SL means to be. It is the one thing i really feel good at. i kwo that sounds tragic but well i dunno some days i dont feel i can do anythign well, however making clothe in sl is one thing i find i love and others like waht i make.

I really am hoping to make a genuine go of this and maybe even get some more land.

I am loving my new store build which was custom made for me by a friend to suit me and my stuff and i feel realy good about that

Im not sure what you mean with the group liabilities thing. If you own the group you will always be charged group liabilites for thing like placing land in search etc.

Oh I am trying jojo's idea of offering out gifts to those who add my store to their picks. So as we speak i am sending a notecard to people inviting them to add my store to their picks and that i am doing a draw on the weekend and a random name will get to pick the fat pack of their choice from the store (that includes anyone here who added me, it isnt restriced to group members only, but anyone who adds me)
