RL is a pain in the butt. I'm seriously thinking about quitting and just sticking to SL.

Is that with or without custard?

You won't get much sympathy in the forums for posting that you want to leave, it's an actions speak louder than words issue.

I'd ride it out if I were you. The numbers will dip but it's not the end of the world as we know it, there are some positives on the way, honest!

I’m thinking of leaving RL and going to SL permanently. I have only been in RL for 44 years but the slow degradation of my body due to age and gravity has taken a screaming nose dive, in SL I can still have the body of a 22 year old. There are no root canals in SL – in fact no dentists at all! My home sim in RL has constant glitches and needs a new kitchen. I can’t seem to drive more than 30 mph on the 405 freeway during rush hour (if, indeed I’m moving at all.) There is a 50/50 chance that when I wake up in the morning I will want to immediately crash back onto the bed and not deal with the day at all, especially after I read the news headlines. I seem to lose attachments all the time - like my car keys for starters. I can never get any support even though I’m a premium member and an estate owner. The real kicker, though, is that I have to age verify at the grocery store to buy a damn bottle of wine to ease the pain of RL, if my debit card isn’t good enough for age verification then I’m gone. Except I really need that bottle of wine….

It is a very intriguing issue .. stay or go?

I mean, I'm addicted .. ok, obsessed if you prefer, but I will slow to a crawl in a laggy sim way past my bedtime and still logout/relog to see if it clears up!

My RL job I've seen dozens of people leave, dissillusioned, depressed, dejected but me? I gotta keep going to see what happens next!!

It's said that giving up is easy .. generally speaking .. it's the weakest option in a lot of cases. Give up here and you'll never know just how good (or bad, OK!) it *could* get!

If I gave up SL ... I'd have little or no reason to come to the forum. The forum is as much a second home (pun intended) as Bagg End.

Done enough derailing .. going in-world to see what damage I can do there!

Yesterday was rather buggy to be sure. Someone must have thought it was the weekend. I was walking threw a mall, wound up under water and could not tp out. Finally decided to clear my chache and wound up at home. Oh yes, my collar wound up between my legs everytime I tp'd. It was there more than it was around my neck.

I've had it with RL. I'm thinking of moving into SL permanently. The script that runs my car won't always work, and I can't seem to teleport at all. I spend hours each day lagging at work - just sitting there staring at a computer screen like an idiot. I tried to change my shape, but it was an immense amount of work and I still look a little Ruth-ish. I can't get my hair to change, although it seldom attaches itself to my butt. My weekly stipend is too small. Every night I crash for a solid 6 hours.

Check this out! Last week, one of the prims under my kitchen sink unjoined itself and quit working. There was water everywhere. I tried ctrl-J, I tried realligning it, checked to see if it was some sort of malicious script. Finnally, I had to buy another one and crawl under there with a wrench!! On the way to the hardware store in my glitchy car, I drove through downtown - you know what that place it like! Griefers and newbs begging for Lindens.

RL is a pain in the butt. I'm seriously thinking about quitting and just sticking to SL.

can i have your prim allowance?

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I'm staying :)

It all boils down to: Do you think you are getting value for your investment? (investment being money, time, etc.) If yes, then you will probably stay. If not, then you will probably leave.

My investment in SL has been mostly time - exploring and working on my avie's appearance (heh heh, I am one handsome devil) I have gotten a fair amount of enjoyment out of my investment so I figure I will be staying.

I used to have a lot of problems - very strange issues and lots of crashing - but then I replaced my video card and 90% of the issues went away. The remaining bugs are annoying, but I can still usually do what I want to do without much difficulty.

There are a lot of things I would like to be different - the entire interface should be rebuilt from the ground up in my opinion - but I expect a certain amount of problems because this is all still new ground. But, while I am here for the time being, I could be pulled away should another and better world appear online - and I do hope for some cool competition for SL soon. Competition helps breed innovation! :)

Sigh, I'm at the point I no longer have to age verify for that....how I long for the day when I used to at least get told "sorry, the policy is that if you aren't clearly over the age of 40 we have to ask for ID"....

An old wives' tale surely? lol. I cannot imagine guaranteed texture rez for a second. A RL friend of mine just joined and it was so embarrassing having to explain that if he wiggled the bandwidth slider from left to right, the pictures on the vendors might rez .. and what do you know?

No - the textures always rezzed and crisp.

Not always fast tho.

It was 1.7 when that stopped.

back then and Before p2p you could fly before stuff rezzed in. You might get stuck in a building though - but you moved pretty darn fast. (not full speed i dont think)

Not this chunk chunk chunk you move now before rezzing.

Help ... dying ... can't ... stop ... laughing ...

/me claws her way back into the chair she fell out of and resumes waiting to hear LL's plan for verifying her as being less than 30 years old in RL. MUCH more useful than the Verification now in beta.

Hey Trout, you think YOU've got it bad? I only have ONE HAIR in RL. The horror... the horror...and every few months I have to get it fixed by the creator because the prims are all wonked out. Guess how much THAT costs me? It's usually around $L40,000. I can't even copy/mod it on my own. Most of the time it ends up Ruthy anyway.

My RL wardrobe is pathetically small, the prims on my RL shoes have crappy old textures, and I have to hire someone to do all my building for me.

I think Mu has got it right and I'm not leaving SL even though I get mad at LL for various things. We are in beta for what will come in the future and yes I know you don't usually pay to be in beta but its the only way we will get to where we're going.

Think I will lay down and rest my brain now lol.

Either you have things to do that capture your interest MORE than SecondLife... or you don't.

If you feel trapped here and hate it, then GET something better to do with your time.

You have no one to blame but yourself if you're fed-up with SL and yet have nothing better to do with your time than whine about it.

It depends. How good are you at plumbing and car repair?
