Oryx,

What have you done to contribute to the hangout venture other than keeping the books so every penny was accounted for, making sure we had the donations of tier we needed, finding the gorgeous land with the adjoining seven sims of protected ocean, keeping everyone up to date on the progress almost daily on this forum, being the liason between avatars involved in the project, moderating the group meeting and looking out so every avatar felt welcome and heard?

I think Raymond really summed it up here, at least for me. It's true. I had made a perception in my mind that you guys were a tight group and probably did not want outsiders...but I made that perception before I ever even attempted posting and I have never been to the hangout. My first post on this forum was in this thread and yeah I was worried it would be ripped apart or just chalked up to pie, but it wasn't, you guys listened, responded and I felt good about it. It was my own pre-determined ignorance that prevented me from posting before, whether it was a true ignorance issue, fear of rejection or lack of self confidence...I don't know. You guys are good people, I don't think you should leave, change things or sugarcoat things with a name change.

Excellent Bang, you have summed it up for me as well, and beautifully.

I actually lurked for months here before making my first post. I followed the conversations with laughter and ocassional irritation. I didn't really think of the core group as unusually clique-ish though. Whenever you have a group of people who are friendly with each other it is natural to have the inside jokes and comraderie. That is normal. It is up to the new folks to try and put aside any fear of rejection or whatever and just dive in.

This doesn't just happen here you know? We all belong to other groups inworld that at one time we were new to. Didn't you find the existing group to be somewhat clique-ish at first? But, after you jumped in and some time had passed suddenly you were part of that "clique". (for lack of a better word). know what I mean?

Anyway, I have learned a lot from the regulars here. I just visited the hangout by the way and it is lovely (!) and I hope to spend lots of time there. I IM'd Brenda for an invite and she was sweet and welcoming.

I don't know. I guess I think that maybe a few people are just taking some of this a bit too seriously. I'm no expert but I have learned through living that it's best to just chill out and be less reactive to everything. At least, that's what seems to work for me.

Oh and btw...peach pie is my fav. :p

this is a prime example of what i was on about. one person (trout) asks for this sort of information, then another person (onyx) basically tells us to stfu.
the entire time the hangout was being created one hand never knew what the other was doing, and it was very frustrating.
The hands that were actually pitching in and doing things to make the project come to life knew exactly what they were doing. Maybe it was frustrating for those who were just sitting on their hands complaining.

Hey Brenda, where does the music stream from in the jukebox? I like the dance station. I'd like to know some of the song names that I hear coming out of it. woot!

The Juke box is actually Chris'. He can answer those questions better than I can. But you can click on it to see the current station and change them, I beleive all members have that ability. As for the other discussion, I'll use a quote Jerry Lewis said about people questioning his motives in the MDA Telethon:'For those who know me, no explanation is necessary. For those who don't, no explanation will suffice."

The place is finished, it's a great place, use it and enjoy it. People put a lot into it, all with good intentions. If it wasn't done the way you would have liked, I'm sorry.

Hey, call me lazy, but I was happy to just donate some cash and let the others figure out what to do with it. All that really matters is the end result, and I think it's a great one. So, true thanks to everyone who worked so hard to bring it all together so quickly. :)

To anyone who felt left out of the process, I think you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. This is something they did FOR us, to bring the group closer together, not something meant to exclude anyone. Maybe you would have liked to see it approached a little differently, and that's fine, but wouldn't you be feeling pretty unappreciated right about now if you'd put that much work into something, only to have it criticized by the very group you'd meant to help?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

My Final Words On the Subject
10-13-2007 15:14
I still don't understand the backlash going on regarding my comments. I thought I had made it clear that I held no resentment. I didn't even say that others were feeling left out due to the club build. The question was asked as to why people were feeling left out and I offered a possible reason. It's sad to see that such a slight remark could be taken so personally and suggests to me that there may be more to what I said than I originally hypothesized.

I've looked back over the thread and still can't for the life of me figure out why there is so much anger going on. I have been very sick the past few days and maybe I'm just not coming across the way I'd like. Obviously I hurt some feelings which was not my intent. I apologize if my comments were misunderstood.

That being said, I don't want to be involved in all this bickering. It's not what I come here for so maybe it's best that I stay away for a couple of days til I feel better.

Hugs all around.

Apologies for going back on topic!

I'm not a cartel member 'cause I don't get around here often enough to keep up. Well actually it's because when I try to post something 'amusing' it invariably signals the end of the thread.

While I can see that it could be annoying to post a legitimate question & have to pick through several pages of off-topic 'humour' (sorry, having no success breaking the " ' ' " habit), I'd sure miss you guys if you cleared off somewhere else.

Also, I wonder if a general topics forum would stimulate the same standard of rubbish as tangential responses to postings from 'outsiders' seem to (damn, there I go again).

On the other hand, at least I might find the time to go inworld once in a while ;-)

Your posts invariably signal the end of a thread because very few people have the stamina and fortitude needed to type the reply, "LOL, good one, Slawkenbergius". :)

How many people who actually use threads welcome relative strangers to the Resident Answers site? I sometimes feel that many people who enter this forum get jumped on fast and never come back again. Would new forum simply be a relatively small group of people's carte blanche to bitch to each other about everyone and everything else? Dont we have Resident Answers for that?
