From: Bang Laval I spend several hours a day lurking on here. I read almost every post in RA and I feel like I know many of you forum regulars just from reading (and I've visited Liome, Caledon, Botanical Gardens and many of the other wonderful places you guys have). I laugh at a lot of the silly one liners and nonsense that is posted, but at the same time I don't post due to the fact that it is a tight group and you guys can, just a little, from my observations, make someone new feel a little uncomfortable.
. I could have written exactly those words two weeks ago. But the silly one liners finally did me in. It may be a tight little group, but that's the group for me, sez I, and threw caution and pie to the winds and just jumped right in. Got ignored for a few posts despite the funniest one-liner I had ever written, but no-one jumped me for butting in -- no-one confirmed that "little uncomfortable" feeling was warranted. Still pretty shy, still not "in" on all the jokey references, but welcomed to participate both here and at the hang-out. Those of us who weren't there to see the introduction of the penguin, pie or panties to the fun are just going to have to wait for something new -- then *that* will be ours as much as theirs. It really *isn't* a closed group, just one with some mutual experiences we haven't yet shared. But SL would lose a whale of a lot without it. This is the way it is in Rl, too. I never feel comfortable approaching a group conversation, anywhere. But, by the same token, I can be (should be?) turned off by the overly-welcoming. I've always thought that the overpowering "welcoming committee' in some churches and clubs scare off more visitors than they rope in. Two weeks later, I wouldn't write those words of yours. I'd write these.

I thought the idea of a hangout was to keep all the OT stuff there and still hang here to help answer questions to those in need.

Good post and points well made.. and i agree about welcoming committees. love imogen

QFT But what was the one-liner? From: Jax Jevon I thought the idea of a hangout was to keep all the OT stuff there and still hang here to help answer questions to those in need. Really? 'Cause I don't think we're capable of eliminating the OT stuff...toning it down, maybe, but where's the fun in that? And questions DO get answered.

From: Bodhisatva Paperclip Where are Alyx and the other languagists? Geesh, Bodhi. It's Languagologist! if you take the "olo out, you have to convert to "naut" and you get languaeronaut which is just silly. Debbie, Cee and Bang, and anyone still lurking. If I've played a part in your not wanting to join because of my goofing off, I really am sorry, and I mean that. I hate cliquey groups - maybe because I spent a lifetime on the outside of them. I never got that feeling here, but I'm not always good at picking up on that stuff, and as you're finding out, once you do post, you are welcomed with open arms, both here and at the Hangout. Please don't avoid posts just because you've seen my name as a poster. The rest of the thread might be really good. I'm going to renew my efforts to tone things down and not be so much of a nuisance. I really hate to think I might have been a part of people feeling like they couldn't post. Cee - I hate to miss a good one-liner. What was it?

Black Thong Mistresses
10-11-2007 16:00
From: Bradley Bracken I'd like to be a part of the Black Thong Mistresses forum! I already have the necessary attire. While it seems to have been agreed that the Forum Cartel won't leave SL Forum premises, I was intrigued enough by Bradley's discovery, that I checked it out. Its original purpose is explained in this exchange: /129/dc/27122/1.html There was very little activity and the last post was a little over a year ago. I think that given the pantie proclivities of the FC, we simply cannot allow that forum to languish into oblivion. If you all don't want to move elsewhere, I propose that at least some of the panters or pantiest post there periodically, perhaps when people prepare prose peripherally purple enough to provoke the RezMod padlock. The door over there is open. I say let's invade. Cartel Coup! We'll at least be able to maintain a safe house on the premises. Make the watch-word "Go BTM".

Trout, like I said, you are all great, I didn't pinpoint any one person as me having any issues with them (I've never even talked to you guys). I really hope my post wasn't taken wrong by anyone and I certainly hope I didn't sound like a crybaby or party pooper to anyone.

The beaches have been breached. Or the breaches have been briefed. Or... hmmm. Anyway, I posted something ( /129/d4/216310/1.html#post1715054) and so far I haven't noticed any ill effects of the Curse of the Black Thong Mistresses. The only thing, though... I'll bet the BTM forum moderator is ill-equipped to deal with us (assuming she's still extant at all)... so we would probably have to kinda police ourselves over there. And of course we may get summarily booted at any moment. But what's life without a little danger?

Just an outsiders viewpoint... Honestly, i've been a little annoyed at the derailing of other threads and I wish that would stop. But What's the harm in picking a label and posting whatever you want to under threads titled with that label? As a reader, i can skip them easily enough so long as zillions aren't created. and i am amused sometimes at reading the cartel threads. I just really dislike the derailing of other people's threads.

I personally don't want to remember another password. If you want start email based group through yahoo groups that is cool I might consider joining but truthfully its more easier if it stays in the regular forums. We aren't going to get general forum its obvious in near future or have old group forums open up. Ideally often most people post a thin line between off topic and on topic and usually their isn't much enforcement. Only post I saw closed about this was one I created about prim jello. The resmod at the time closed it. Yet numerous others remain open. Sometimes the resident answers and or other parts of SL forums get to me. There nothing wrong with having some light hearted fun or making new friends that you might spend in world. Yet I guess there is thin line too between being so silly or responding with catty banter to hijack a thread. If you don't want to help or supply resident answers technically you're breaking the rules of the forum. It would be better to have gatherings in world where people are being silly, etc. I would love the Forums continue be place to go when you need help with something relating to SL or to understand, learn and discuss something related to SL. Yet sometimes we don't stay on topic but I think as long as its related to SL it shouldn't matter. I wanted to discuss a bit ago about different tools within SL program. Resmod thought it was their job to close it yet why is discussing Pie, Panties, Gor or Opinion threads often ignored? Let accept it there is pretty much now only one person that is resmod. The person who closed the thread about prim jello I never seen again, wasn't the regular resmod. Pretty much right now because Strife is only one here and no one seems to be assigned to help we get to post a lot of things we shouldn't technically based on the rules. Only post closed are the one's that break rules by mentioning names, etc. But I also I know human nature, there will always be those who are just trying to have good time and being silly where ever they can because they are trying to have good time not thinking that they are basically hijacking a thread. And same way their will be Egotistical and some rude opininated people who will post whatever too. Often the Resident Answers becomes filled with Opinions and not always about supporting and helping as much as it should be. But its the only place we have. Or least what I have. Fan base Forums personally I find to much hassle right now.

If it did nothing else but get a few hesitant people to begin posting now, it was worth it.
Ah, what am I saying? It wasn't worth it in the slightest. Tired of being politically correct for a bunch of wussies. Fuck you all.

Brandi, I felt the same way at first. I found all the pie and panties annoying. With time I realized that no ones thread gets derailed before its time. If you will really look through you will see that threads are only derailed if they are flaming to begin with or have just reached their time. Now I still read the forums to learn a thing or two, teach a thing or two AND I get to have fun at the same time.
