k, just an observation here - honestly not trying to cause a class war - but the first five 'protesters' I clicked on had no payment info on file. just sent a pic to snapzilla with my main account.
i'm not interested in what these avatars are taking from, or contributing to the economy; more on the demographics of the protest. is there more of a backlash from casino owners, or those whose only source of income is from casinos (through camping or whatever)?

I've noticed most activists (Age Verification, Gambling, Age Play) are campers.

From what I could make out it was a protest from owners, those who like to gamble and the confused.

I'm not sure which protest you were at, but I noticed the same thing, although it doesn't really surprise me. For some reason NPIs seem to generally have the most sense of entitlement than any other demographic.

From: Tybalt Brando I've noticed most activists (Age Verification, Gambling, Age Play) are campers. Heh, interesting pattern. I'm just stunned that none of the first five people I clicked on had payment info on file. Two of them could clearly be catwalk models though. I wish snapzilla would hurry up. Edit: Just noticed your response Kitty. I was at the protest on (or adjacent to) Pathfinder Linden's land, right next to Waterhead Welcome Area. (I'm not logged in now and can't remember the sim name. :doh

American online gamblers had there chance to protest months and months ago. they didn't, and the law is finally reaching SL.

From: Tolan Majestic Last i heard the law has not been signed in to actual law yet by the President, Therfore is not law yet and a motion to repeal before it is signed is on the floor of Congress. if im wrong please correct me From: someone ...Also in September 2006, just before adjourning for the midterm elections, both the House of Representatives and Senate passed legislation (as an amendment to the unrelated Safe Port Act) that would make transactions from banks or similar institutions to online gambling sites illegal. This differs from a previous bill passed only by the House that expanded the scope of the Wire Act. The passed bill only addresses banking issues.[13] The act was signed into law on October 13, 2006 by President George W. Bush, and there is a provision for a 270-day period to develop enforcement measures. At the bill-signing ceremony, Bush never mentioned the Internet gambling measure, which was supported by the National Football League and opposed by banking groups.[14] Feel free to read the whole thing at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_gambling but it sounds to me like he did sign it.

Broccoli I'm busily poking protesters with a stick. Their arguments are sort of the pinnacle of stupid.

Yep, sure does, also sounds like they sneaked it through so noone would get upset, but obviously someone is upset cause they are trying to repeal it. but i wish they would clarify the TOS on the subject.

Their arguments are sort of the pinnacle of stupid. What else do you expect from people who spend hours playing unverified, unsecure, unchecked, unbalanced slot machines expecting to win more than they put in them? Broccoli

From: Tybalt Brando I've noticed most activists (Age Verification, Gambling, Age Play) are campers. I would disagree with you on that last point. Most of the folks who were most concerned abou the vagueness on the wording of ageplay policies were content creators. (Like me, for example.) Mari

You may wish to enter via Borrowdale, however. Mari

Hmm....not trying to cause a class war but yet can't help make a comment about it? Are these folks any less SL Citizens than you or I?

And Im proud to be one.

From: Ann Launay It seems to me that, if it's OK for RL little old ladies to play Bingo in the church basement every week, SL's versions should be safe as well. But I guess you never know... I'm not up on the particulars, but I believe there is specifically a "bingo exception". Bingo is, I think, regulated by states, but why exactly its different I'm not sure.

From: someone ... would make transactions from banks or similar institutions to online gambling sites illegal. I wonder if this could explain why some SL transactions in the past have been blocked by certain banks/credit cards? Even if only a few locations on the world have gambling, it makes the entire SL universe qualify as a "online gambling site".
