Nothing to protest its not an unwanted feature or a reductions in stipends or removal of the first land feature its a company trying to obey laws of their country so protest all ya like but I would suggest move the protests to in front of the whitehouse and possibly capitol hill ingame because they are the main driving force behind this not Linden Lab then maybe some people might attend.

being there is a gamble:
1. griefers like that place so good change u`ll be griefed
2. LL`s home invasion, good chance they aren`t home
3. protesting, more chance u`ll be heard while screaming in the depts of space
4. nothing to gain and only to loose
5. posting on the forums has a pritty good chance of backfiring

pritty serious gamble there :p

Yeah what did the protestors ever do for us? Well besides paid holidays, paid sick leave, health and safety regulations, the right to vote, education, free speech, public services, sanitation, irrigation, legislation but besides that, protests never achieve anything.

This protest is a clear example of "Let's you and him fight." These protesters won't face the penalties if the Feds decide to crack down on gambling in SL, it will be the Lindens facing fines and jail time. Maybe if they had something to lose by breaking the law I would take them seriously. Protesting when you are not at risk, isn't much of a protest.

You're right. Online protests achieve a lot.....actually I can't say that with a straight face.

Here is what the US Goverment will say to that:
"Oh, some people are protesting they can't gamble online in some thing called SecondLife. Here's a quarter. Call somebody who cares"

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Consent of the governed (right to vote) and the right of free speech (something most nations in the EU do not enjoy) are rights that preexist and in America were recognized because we kicked the King's men out of America. As for the other things you mention, the free market will supply all of them better than legislation will ever do.

All that time put into protest signs and standing around could be put into building something worth a damn...or even camping!

A true protest casino-style would have camping chairs set up with anims that make it look like you're walking around holding the sign and raising your fist!

Oh behave, the free market isn't interested in non profit public services. They'd happily cream the big money parts of it but providing services to rural areas would hardly be a concern for them and then there's the whole issue of monopolies which are rightly legislated against.

The protestors at Benjamin's office are just crude and insulting (and fairly misguided at best).

If that's the crowd that gambles, then good riddance to all of them.

Watch out, one of them might have an anim that makes it look like they're breaking your knee-caps!

Funny, I live in a rural area, I have water, sanitation, phone and power all of which were privately provided. "Public services" are just jobs programs for those who can't make it in the private sector. As for monopolies, I am all for getting rid of monopolies, the govenment sponsored ones. Lets scrap the special protections given AMA members, members of the various bar associations, the postal service. Face it Ciaran, government monopolies cause much more harm than any private corporation. Under the Standard Oil monopoly of the late 1800s, the price of kerosene dropped. The railroads only had monopolies because they were given special treatment by the government. The evil Robber Barons were a myth.

*This* will end well.

It actually seems misguided, at best. My suspicion is that SL has had to shut down the gambling for fear of running afoul of Federal law. It's not that their hands are fully tied on it, but pretty close to it. So, um.. protesting againt Linden Lab is gonna somehow make a positive difference?

Really, all I can say is this: anyone got any popcorn?

But I'd have to accept the animatin first! lol

I don't gamble. Won't miss it one bit. My friend has (had) a casino and I still have the free chips in my inventory. Maybe search will clear up as a result.
