On other subject- your language lab- any other languages? It would be cool to majorly improve my French - lots of room for improvement there!

Yes there will be more languages. Currently we’re ramping up Spanish and Chinese (yes Chinese) and then I think it’s a toss up between French and Japanese.
They should be offering US time zone friendly Spanish classes within the next few weeks. I have no idea when the others will come online. Depends on when we find qualified teachers.

Speaking of coolers, look whats coming sometime this year:

http://gizmodo.com/5027154/danamics-cpu-cooler-chills-chips-with-liquid-metal-wont-terminate-them

Liquid Metal CPU cooling!!!

Sounds interesting. And I hope the coolers arent outrageously expensive.

Story of the day:

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.
He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.
Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.
Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peters legs and slammed his stupid ass against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same elephant.

Hello threadies. have caught up. Am sitting in the San Diego airport; flight's been delayed an hour. Argh. But! I discovered that they have free wifi access, so I was able to catch up on the thread!

I like Eric Clapton and all eras of Fleetwood Mac. :D

Went to a San Diego Pops concert Saturday night - featured Mary Wiloson of the Supremes, who sang a lot of Motown hits. Now that was a fun concert. I was shaking my booty big time.

Kaimi - thanks for the updates. Better than any I've seen online or in print! :)

An hour? Between 7 am and 6pm GMT + 1 (jokingly known as British Summer time) ? I have the equivalent of the dawn patrol - a dirty job but someone has to do it.

Pep (sometimes I get to talk to threadies who should already be in bed, which can make it worthwhile)

If no one has thanked you yet, I thank you! :)
So, did you have a good day? Having a good evening?

I am learning to accept thanks gracefully, even at my advanced age, so it is a pleasure that my work here is recognised. I see it as an apprenticeship for something greater. Maybe trolling in SLU.

Pep (or maybe not)

Go back and reread the original post again (#24196). I first quoted you, asking what went wrong because you had said you were going to keep us on page 1 -- I was just ribbing you btw, in case you aren't familiar with my posting style. I then quoted Morgaine about falling to page 2 because it had only been "one hour between HER two posts" and yet we were apparently on page two when she made the second post.

Sorry - I didn't keep my eye on the thread after I thought America had woken up . . .

. . . and one of my greatest lifetime achievements, I believe, is to have been assessed by a psychometric test as "comfortable with ambiguity" but I obviously failed the sex test (I'll keep taking it until I pass) regarding the gender of "your".

Oh - and if anyone here dares take me too seriously then I am off back to the Gorean Public Boards!

I was just about to run a bath, then I thought...'what the heck, it's lovely and warm' so I took the soap, shampoo and a towel down to the creek instead.

Funny that. I was just about to go for a run and I thought...'what the heck, it's lovely and warm' so I took my binoculars down to the creek instead.

Pep (Eyesight's going . . . and trying to work out where there are any "creeks" in the UK?)
