Yes...this is to prepare them for having their ass chewed off for no better reason than they happen to be there.

Morning folks! All the tubes are out of pop, as are all the staple...now we work on getting him eating a bit more, and exercising a bit (like walking more than a hundred yards)...

Hope everyone's doing well, along with their families!

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

okay, once again i'm going to go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off SL content and ask some personal advice.

first off.... Jillian... i got that bastard Scribus in my pocket! :D easy. thanks so much! i totally have been doing that with Corel, I just never gave it a name. but Scribus is so much more versatile and user friendly. THANK YOU so much!

but, now to the question i have today! i am asking here, because we have such an assortment of brains and experience. and since this is basically a GD thread, and i don't want to start a new one.... i'm going to go out on a limb and bring my personal into it... no pics or anything, just questions. if i'm way out of line, i want you to tell me to knock this sheeit off, and i won't do it again.

here it is. i am actively seeking other employment. in doing so, a really sweet job has popped up. it doesn't pay as well as some other jobs i've been applying for, but it pays better than the current job (which also has nothing to do with my past experience because i pursued something new, and it almost kilt me. really. =/ so going back to what i know and am best at.. and pays better).... AND this job has required graphics experience and duties. i so want to do something related to computer use, besides the usual office blah blah blah (data entry, taxes, payroll, billing, etc).

so, i wrote a really detailed cover letter. i need to know if it's over the top, or too strong, too weak, too rambling.... things of this nature.

anyone willing to take a look? or i can post it here... but that's a little embarrassing and show-off-ish (IMO)..... what is best and who is willing to slay my werk to set me straight and help me get hired just off my letter alone?

P.S. they are hiring for 2 positions. i am way qualified for the office admin one, but i really want the other one. but, just in case... i acknowledged my abilities in both.... one never knows....

thus, these question has arose: is this appropriate? anyone in human rescources? if not, would you be willing to print it and as a HR person for advice?

no pressure, but gotta mail it today, so if posting it here for all to see is necessary, then so be it. i can always edit it out later. but honestly, i'd prefer PM to public. the more input the better. so come one come all. thank you in advance.

I'll take a look at it. I've written a few letters in my time, so I could probably give some decent feedback if you want.

They aren't all gas hogs. I drove mine 160 miles yesterday and I got 18 miles per gallon. I think that is pretty good since I have a gasoline V-10, I can carry 8 people and all of their luggage and tow a 10,000 trailer. Stamping SUV on vehicle doesn't automatically make it bad.

Weird thing is, his Trailblazer is newer & smaller with a smaller engine than the Silverado he traded in, but the Silverado got better gas mileage.

Did you compare the weight to hp ratio between the two?

A smaller engine is not more efficient if it is expected to do the same amount of work as a larger engine.

VWs in the sixtys ran a 40hp 1200cc engine to push around 1800 lbs of car and cargo. I use the same engine in my race car (1150lbs) my speed is 40mph higher and my gas mileage is better. Of course there is no luggage space at all.

Glad ya like my shows! I do em usually on Saturdays at Livingtree, but did a couple special ones recently for 4th of July an the SL/Kids 5Bs.

I'll prob'ly make em f'r sale. Gonna depend on how many prims an how complex it turns out. If it's too many ror too much set up, I'm prob'ly not gonna wanna put it out. We'll see.

re: my cover letter - i noticed that all my lack of caps in chat-like discussions has bled into RL. i had several sentences using a lower case "i" when referring to myself. BAD!

and apparantly, while i think of myself as quite foolish, i am really quite capable! ;) special thanks to you guys for picking up on that. not cool. not cool at all.

thanks to all who willingly read and advised on my letter. i appreciate it greatly. off it goes to the mail in just a short while.

now back to your regularly scheduled silly nonsense.

Hi Everyone!
Today was another long flat stage at Le Tour de France. In fact the longest of the whole tour at 232km or 144 miles. Again there was a three man breakaway right at the beginning of the day. But this time the teams of the sprinters did not let them get too far ahead.

At 10 km to go they were still 35 seconds out in front and my own personal favorite rider, George Hincapie, had some kind of bike failure and had to fall back and wait for the mechanic in the team car.

At 3km to go George had made his way to up to the front of the peleton and was leading the chase to catch the breakaway riders who were still 15 seconds ahead. George was one of the most valuable riders on Lance Armstrong's team every time he won the Tour de France. Today Big George was working to get his current team mate, Mark Cavedish, into position to win a sprint finish.

One member of the breakaway, French national champion Nicolas Vogondy, wasn't caught until the last 200meters when UK rider Cavendish pulled ahead for the victory.

Cavendish's team, Colombia, is based in the U.S. and is at the tour for the very first time.

We have an Xterra which is just big enough for the upright bass which my husband insists on lugging around. We like it a lot and the gas consumption could be worse.
