... i don't know why people in America always feel they have to be boxed up and labeled by their geneology....

I don't feel boxed up by mine. it was a liberation to learn about my roots. Where I grew up all the families around us were Jewish or German or Italian. We were the only Irish family I knew about in the neighborhood. Everything about us seemed weird in comparison to everybody else. We talked different, our hair was different, we did different things at home and ate different food.

When I went to Boston and Ireland, everybody looked like they were related to me. It was a BIG relief. (Especially about the hair.) And then when I found that all the strangeness in my family was just typical for Irish people, I finally felt normal. I wasn't the only one anymore.

I never wear green on St. Patrick's Day. I usually dont' remember it. I don't play the bagpipes or the harp. I don't do step dancing, or drink tumblers of whiskey (with an "e";). I just recognize that certain traits of mine come from my ancestors and I'm mildly interested in the history of that country. I'm proud of some aspects of it.

They are replaying the historic Apollo 11 audio feed in realtime, from the launch to landing on the moon (which will be timed with the 40th anniversary of the event on Monday). Many other goodies there too. I've been listening to it while working. :)
How cool, Bith. I was living in England at the time (where it happened in the middle of the night) and my then husband stayed up when I went to bed then when it got close he came and got me. It was an amazing feeling seeing that on live tv.

i just call you an American. i don't know why people in America always feel they have to be boxed up and labeled by their geneology....

when the last census came around, i almost ended up in jail because at first i refused to answer the census. when i finally did cave in because i was threatened, i refused to label myself anything other than American. i guess i was more stubborn than they could back up, because they finally left me alone.

but i remember being angry for a long time about that. it's no one's business what nationality anyone is. it just doesn't matter. people have these damm causes that they want us to all assimilate and be a "melting pot" and then those same people spend countless monies trying to divide us by color.

POLITICS! hmph!!! don't get me started. i'm in a great healthy place in my life, and i'd like to keep it that way. LOL
Of course in the olden times when I was growing up many, many forms asked for "race" as a matter of course. My dad always wrote "human" and ranted a bit. :)

Just stopping by, saying hi! Been a busy week, getting used to the new job on a fulltime basis - three more days and "she" is out of there. Wednesday they are throwing a goodbye/hello party for her and I, a nice gesture and will be interesting watching the entire staff get smashed :p

Ghosty and I are doing great. I've been modeling for him for days now; he's been creating jewelry and I'm the face behind the ads thus far (not sure if you can really see me or not yet, since they are earrings and he obviously needs to focus on *them* not me).

Anyway, I grabbed this shot as we were wrapping up today. Has nothing to do with the baubbles, just a nice picture of us with our new skins :)

Hopefully, will check in more frequently as the job settles down.
What a great picture. I've missed you.

Stage 15 today at the Tour de France was 207.5 km (128 miles) of hills with a mountaintop finish.

The strongest men of the Tour hadn't been on the last and biggest climb (category 1) for long when they left behind the riders who had been in a breakaway and everyone else.

Lance Armstrong was riding in the slip stream of Astana teammates Alberto Contador of Spain and Andreas Klöden of Germany. At about 10km to go Contador attacked and no one went with him. Perhaps, we thought, Lance and Andreas are riding now to slow the others down if they can. But a few km's later Luxembourg national champion, Andy Schleck attacked and Klöden and Armstrong didn't respond. We knew then that at least one of them wasn't able to. And it appeared to be Lance who was helped the rest of the way up by Klöden.

Contador just flew up the ascent with throngs of screaming crazy fans pressing in very close. At one point we saw him push people away from both sides at once. That is worse than usual. After the race Armstrong told an interviewer that Contador must now be considered the leader of the Astana team (of Kazakhstan). But he is still in second place over all, could get his mountain legs back, and should do better than Contador in the time trial later in the week, so there is still some slight chance for those who have been hoping he would win this year's Tour. The whole thing could even be part of some complicated secret strategy.

A new leader also emerged on the USA team, Garmin, when UK rider Bradley Wiggen performed noticeably better on the climb than did Christian Vande Velde of the USA.

Alberto Contador is the new 2009 Tour De France leader. And may well keep the lead now until the end.

I'm SO glad everyone likes that photo! Seriously. I thought it came out really well too.

As for the jewelry, here's the scoop.

He has only made one item right now - his first. It started out as a lark, but turned out to be something serious. What he did was make earrings which are either sold as a single or a pair because they are unisex. They are being sold in Honeybear's mall in Cherry Park, in the $49 Shoe Store at the moment. It's an interesting product he developed, for a *niche* market. I think you have to go and see for yourself, and I mean everyone :)

Don't worry, it isn't adult rated :p

If it does well, I'm pretty sure he'll expand into more pieces, of other kinds. I think he wants to eventually make these earrings more "customized" (again, you need to see them to understand - right now they say something on them, but eventually, your own initials could be put onto them instead for an additional cost).

BTW, I am wearing them in the photo above, but you can't see it too well since Ghosty is more prominent in the photo.

Intrigued? Hehe. Take a TP over.

excellent review. is this the first time he's been in the lead in his entire career, or just this season?
