Okay, so I was speaking somewhere this week, and this big burly guy in the audience started challenging me. I didn't lose my cool. I tried to talk with him, but he jumped up, called me names, and started toward me. He was really angry. But he wasn't heading for me, he went out one of the doors that were near me. It wasn't scary really. It was a surprise. But the names he called me really bother me even if they aren't true. It's thrown a shadow over the past few days. I'm trying to shake it off. I know it will pass but it was disturbing. I know that's all kind of vague, but I can't be clearer. Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. I'm just not my usual ebullient self. . Big hugs. _____________________

Stage 13 today at the Tour De France was the first and only medium mountain stage. It was 200 km from Vittel to Colmar in cold rain.
The race started today without Roman Feillu, who was told he would be disqualified by the anti-doping authorities if he used his asthma medicine. Even more significant was the non-start today of Levi Leipheimer who sustained a broken wrist when he was caught up in a crash yesterday about 1.5km from the finish. Levi was one of the four Astana riders who was thought to have a chance of winning the Tour. More likely he would have been very helpful in teammate Lance Armstrong's bid to win for an eighth time. (Dang! Both Levi and Roman were on my fantasy team.)Another rider failed to start today because of stomach problems. Early in the stage at the 5 km mark, a group of seven broke away from the peloton and stayed out on their own all the way to the finish. One of that group, Heinrich Haussler successfully attacked the rest and was able to stay clear to win the race. He was so happy that he started crying as he crossed the line – I may have cried too, a little bit. All the contenders for the overall general classification stayed together at the front of the peloton today and nothing changed in their rankings. Except that with Leipheimer gone Bradley Wiggins moved up to 4th place. Later I found out that today two riders were injured when they were shot at with pellet or bb guns. Both should be able to continue tomorrow. ![]() ![]() _____________________

Goodness me - a pretty heavy mood in this thread lately, and in some other threads too. It must be something in the air. I've had a rough couple of weeks and just about abandoned SL and these forums temporarily. Thought I'd catch up a bit and found that several others are having rough times too. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.
A few comments: Lifer thread? I couldn't find it. Will it raise my blood pressure more than it already is? Treasure's house is light, airy, and I need it in real life. And the gardens too. If anyone knows a way to lower BP fast, I'm open to suggestions. A walk brought it down some. Yeah, I know -- sleep. . |

Well since you are a beagle, if I were I would go find the nearest av with a surname of Linden or a property owned by a Linden and pee on everything you could... _____________________

Speaking of things for the house -- I am getting close to finishing the redesign of mine and one thing I want to get for it is a piano with the playing music scripts and animations. I know a few of you have one, so I thought I would start with your opinions. Recommendations? https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&MerchantID=2419 She also sells the music that her pianos can play. We bought her 1890 New England Upright Piano last year (which I just noticed is currently on sale with L$500 off). It even has a pose that makes the listener lounge elegantly on the top: ![]() That particular one comes loaded with ragtime music, but she has tons of other music for sale that you can use. _____________________

The word 'hero' is used too lightly these days. A true hero left this earth today, although he would likely have told anyone calling him that to not be so daft.
Henry Allingham was not only the world's oldest man, he was also one of the last survivors of World War One. The last remaining survivor of the Battle of Jutland, who also served at Ypres and the Somme, he was a founding member of the Royal Air Force. Even in his incredibly advanced years, he toured schools and attended commemorations, to keep the memory of his 'old pals' bright and alive, and to speak about the horrors of war. When asked about his longevity, he jokingly attributed it to cigarettes, whisky and wild women. When asked how he would like to be remembered, he said simply: "I don't. I want to be forgotten. Remember the others." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8157128.stm _____________________

I definitely recommend Sue Stonebender's pianos (Serendipity Studios). Good Morning Thread and Threadies-
Skell, the gentleman's obit was quite profound and gave a good look at his life- the world needs such heros. Mr. Cronkite's life and death, he lived a long life and told us the stories we needed to hear and made them sound like a neighbor or aquaintance sharing news, not a cold face on tv. Lil- I forget who makes it but I do know she makes several instruments- we have a lovely harpsichord at Damien's castle, if you would like to see it. It plays beautiful music. Beautiful picture Rio ![]() Happy weekend to all. _____________________

Huntin' f'r buckerflies: ![]() Sweet! I hope you let 'em go though. Those monarchs are so pretty and a sign that fall is on its way. They have to go thousands of miles to South America to follow summer as it moves there. Oh wait -- that's in real life. Never mind. Henry Allingham was not only the world's oldest man, he was also one of the last survivors of World War One. Wow . . . ! ![]() And wow! Is that a newish skin too or just different make up? My keyboard guy likes it a lot. Mr. Cronkite's life and death, he lived a long life and told us the stories we needed to hear and made them sound like a neighbor or acquaintance sharing news, not a cold face on tv. That seems to be the hardest thing about aging - so far. Almost everyone I grew up admiring is gone. New celebrities seem to come and go and I couldn't even tell you their names. And worse, friends start passing too. My BP is coming down this morning finally. It has a way to go yet. I have to figure out a way to keep work from killing me. Can't just up and quit in this economy. . |
