big 3-day weekend in America. who's doing what on this beautiful day?

Well, this morning there was a Memorial Day bycycle parade in my neighborhood. :) All the little kids decorate their bicycles with streamers and/or flags etc., and ride from one end of the street to the other (about a 1/2 mile). At the conclusion of the ride is the county park near my house, where everyone gathers to chat and ooh and ahh over the bike decorations.

The little kids look so cute on their bicycles! And there's usually a county policeman on his motorcycle leading the crew. :D

Barbecuing at home tonight. Sadly, it's been raining on and off all day, so it hasn't been the best day for outdoor activities.

Taken a while ago, in the absinthe caravan at La Reve:

Skell you could be illustrating graphic novels.

One user agrees. Skell, your eye is wonderful for getting these shots.:)

The pict is a good re-creation though. I've never been to the real site - but I'd love to go.

Morning erm, nearly good afternoon. Heading out to the market to p/u grilling essentials. Purchased a good sized Weber charcoal grill Friday (I have a gas one at "the other house" but who knows when it will arrive at this rate so we broke and got this one) Was going to test drive it last night but the rain hit. So, it was buffalo burgers on the cast iron stovetop grill instead - tasty, but not what we were hoping for.

Today I think I'm going to do my mom's grilled chicken recipe *if* I can remember the marinade; pretty sure about the ingredients (soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ketchup and tabasco) but the measurements are another story. Prolly grill up some fresh corn with it, concoct some kind of Asian inspired potato salad since the marinade has soy sauce in it and I have a ton of cilantro growing on our deck that needs using up.

/me goes to check weather.com to check on the possibility of thunderstorms late in the day...

Yesterday, we had a small parade go right by our living room window, much to our surprise - sort of. I knew there was one scheduled, but the paper didn't mention that it was going to be passing by on our block. Some marching bands (was confused why one from Staten Island was here tho), old time vehicles (original cop cars and fire trucks from the town), vets from various wars, the prerequisite police playing bagpipes, etc. Pretty entertaining interlude to watch from our windowseat. I think Ghosty took some pix, however, he hasn't loaded them up yet and I don't know if the screen got in the way :p

Anyway, hope my fellow Statespeople are enjoying their holiday weekend and those who are not here, are having a great day in general :) Over and out!

Yay on the Weber. I love the convenience of a gas grill, but man, there's nothing like food grilled over wood or charcoal. :)

I love that you had a little neighborhood parade! And how cool that it went right by your house!! :)

I like the sound of that marinade. :)

You are having the perfect all-American Memorial Day weekend. It was one of my favorite holidays when I was a cab driver in Kansas. All morning long taking taking people with bowls of potato salad and red white and blue cakes to picnic areas and back yards. Barbeques going all over town, warm weather, happy families, etc.. I hope Threadhearts and everyone are enjoying it today as much as I remember those folks doing back then.

I like the holidays where practically everyone is glad to participate, for example, in the US: Memorial Day...4th of July...Thanksgiving. :)

Hi Zena. The "non-clique" will soon be contacting you to tell you off for quoting me.

The sl build is a pretty good approximation of the real thing considering.

Pep (except for the b***** foreign tourists.)

PS I couldn't find the orgy room in the real thing though!

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

While I am sure the RL place is of course fantastic - the SL one has the advantage of not being turned into a mountain of mud when it rains -I had a friend lose her shoes in it because she sank to her ankles whiel walking thru the mud to get to it.

She should have used the causeway.

pokes head in and winks at Z.......smiles..... Hey.. its our holiday and you have the good weather in Canada... not fair.. raining here. It is suppose to be nice on a holiday.
Any day it rains here in San Diego is a red letter day as far as I'm concerned. It's unlikely I'll see any more rain here until November or December.

Very cool, Damien. This is one of the places I've always wanted to visit in rl. So far the closest I've gotten is watching Le Tour de France peloton speed past on tv. (I did spend a week once in Paris.)
