Wait...what??? You're going out of town? Did we give you permission?

You didn't get the memo? Oh, that's right. I sent it while YOU were out of town.

IMHO, Love does not owe any apologies. Nor did 3Ring.

I'm taking Ghosty's high road and leaving because if I stay, I'm going to say things about a certain someone I'm absolutely NOT going to regret, but I'm also certain others will take me to task about it, and I don't want to risk those friendships. Obviously, we have very different opinions on said person and that is not worth quarreling about.

Later people. See you at Lil and Spikes wedding tonight, but don't know when I'll see you in this Thread again :(

I've always loved your ankle bracelet, Brenda. It's such a great touch.

And geez, that's a well-stocked bar at the Hangout!! :p

Mutual, I'm sure.

Pep, I like talking with smart people, even (perhaps particularly) when we disagree. But while I'm happy to be polite to you or talk one-on-one, I often skip threads where you're active. This is because the combination of contentiousness and sententiousness you so readily display steers threads away from rational discourse - all too often, threads you enter seem to decay into namecalling and/or trivial nitpicking. I'm only bothering to say this because I honestly think you may not be aware of how you come across to the many many silent lurkers on this thread. And I doubt you think I'm stupid.

Also, your emotionally abusive statements about your wife are difficult to read. My mute list is always empty, but these have often tempted me. They make me hope that they're simply roleplay, and you are either unmarried or female IRL.

I love my RL anklets especially now that it is becoming shorts and skirts weather again.

ok then....I'm not shutting up yet...until I get the request for kumbaya.

Or until I depress the heck out of you!!!

April Comes
-------------

I stand here before you
A shell of what was once a happy life
a winter filled with desolation
ravaged by the storms of pain and strife

But...

April comes,
the rains fall on me.
washing clean the stains of my past
Showers fall,
a whisper that brings me
A memory that wastelands cannot last.
I welcome the cascade of gentle rain
so the flowers in my life may bloom again

Mistakes pile on me
knocking down the bridges to my past
I'm following a broken trail
but this dust that stains my spirit cannot last

Because...

April comes,
the rains fall on me.
washing clean the stains of my past
Showers fall,
a whisper that brings me
A memory that wastelands cannot last.
I welcome the cascade of gentle rain
so the flowers in my life may bloom again

(PS...don't leave Elora. :( )

That isn't a question of interpretation. I assured Lexxi that I didn't intend it to be. Quite clearly you disbelieve me, and are therefore calling me a liar.

Pep (This won't go away until you recant)

If you can't differentiate between intending to insult someone, and intending to write something which can be interpreted as insulting someone, I can't help you. There is no contradiction between your claim that you didn't intend to insult Lexxi and my claim that you intended your post to appear like you *could* be.

I didn't claim you were trying to insult Lexxi, I claimed:

From: Love Hastings

And for someone who always claims to craft his posts so carefully, to choose his words so carefully, I still believe you intended your post to be open to a very negative interpretation.

Ok...that's it...I'ma not gonna stop singin' until everyone behaves.

Dancin' Shoes (a waltz)

verse 1:

It's her first high school dance
Her daddy just stares
at the girl where
his babe used to be

Judging by the rest of the song, I see how girl can be there (as opposed as to reversed, babe in for girl and girl in for babe); but shouldn't babe be baby?

Unless people mean something else when they say something like "hey, what a babe".

By the way, your song made me sadish. heh

Typo...that should have been "baby"

Well, how about this?

Just two weeks short of its first birthday, stubbornness may have finally killed the Undying Thread.

Thanks for your opinions, Nika. I would, however, prefer to think that it is my pointing out that threads have diverged from rationale discourse that leads to the namecalling. Unlike trolls, I stay and fight though, rather than running away. If one of my approaches is to disparage opinions because they are presented in an illiterate fashion, that, I would claim, is a valid argument.

I am also more than aware how I appear to many "lurkers", but what you will probably not be aware of is how many of those "lurkers" message me to support me in private, but don't want to support me publicly because they don't want to rock any boats, upset friends with inferiority complexes, or to be accused of the same "elitist" attitudes as I apparently demonstrate.

As far as my attitude to my wife is concerned, how would you feel if I told you that I simply report the way she treats me, in reverse?

Pep (Things to think about there, eh?)

I would, and do, feel that your relationship is sad and the two of you should be reaching out for help, not oppressing casual acquaintances with your vitriol toward each other. In my book, it is NOT OK to randomly spout insults toward anyone who is not present, and therefore is not capable of defending themselves.

Why do I care? One reason is because the intensity of your emotion towards her leads you to make broadly misogynistic statements. I resent them, and they cause me to lose respect for you.

If you weren't hurt and distressed by her attitude, you wouldn't care enough to spout off about it. You ARE hurting, so I hope you someday drag each other to someone who can help. We in the forums cannot.

. . . Mealy-mouthed emotional and unconvincing argument . . .
When you are in a hole, the usual advice is to stop digging. Just about everyone else here has accepted my intentions were honourable except you, unsurprisingly because you are well balanced enough to have been carrying a chip on both shoulders in respect of me for some considerable time. I don't suppose it helps that Lexxi doesn't appear to share your animosity towards me, and seems to favour my sense of humour in preference to your lack of one. Well, that is your problem. Sort it out with her not take it out on me.

Furthermore, you have proved yourself unable to keep your side of a truce agreement you offered and have now even brought your bilious opinions into this Thread, where I take great pains to maintain a sense of proportion, despite provocation. But be assured that I am not going away, nor will I worry about "the car being stopped" until this is resolved.

Pep (Leaving work now, so you can take the opportunity to declaim without immediate response; make the most of it!)

I appreciate your effort and concern. Please don't think that we have not been down the politically correct route with politically correct counsellors (funny - they were all female :p ) who were intellectually unable to comprehend a logical argument and attempted to convince me of the validity of illogical emotional arguments. I hurt as I am sure everyone does. I am just better at expressing that hurt, despite the consensus that my gender is unable to do so, and if I illuminate the forums (*not* the Undying Thread) with my experience then it is as a warning to others not to look at life through rose tinged glasses. Self-delusion is a short term measure, and ends badly.

Pep (This is much too serious for the Undying Thread; why did you bring it up here?)

PS "Resent" is my wife's favourite word. I tell her it says more about her than me.

Everyone in this forum has internal emotions that others do not know about. It is time to let sleeping dogs lie.
