I have only scanned the Relationship one lately cause of Phil in pink undies (!!!!). Yeah- well- lets just hang on tight- you know- I wonder if movies like Tremors might suddenly disappear off the shelves- wouldn't want to give anyone the idea you should horde food, ammo etc- come to think of it--- anyone seen Mad Max or 1984 or V lately? /me adjust tinfoil hat and goes back underground...

So I get a call from my brother this morning. His current wife has kicked him out and wants a divorce.(shocker...) Anyway,he needs a place to stay. And me being the sucker I am,said yes. I hate living with people. Took me years to finally live alone and drink the milk out of the carton.:( I'm so depressed now. I can't say no though,he is my brother.


I may be perpetually cranky after Saturday.Sigh.

Rioko, be smart and set a time limit NOW on how long he can stay. Be as generous or as tight as you want, but don't leave this open-ended.

My brother is a hard worker, has been working since he was 16. So I am not worried about him leeching off of me or overstaying his welcome. I just really like living alone. I lived with the most annoying jerk on the planet for years. This is me time, damn it.:(

Make sure you got some boundaries - and make sure there's real consequences for crossing them. His wife MIGHT be just an evil wench, but she also might've dumped him for a good reason. Being his sister doesn't mean he gets to turn you into an apple tree just because he screwed up.

This is his fifth wife. They just got married in December. I am sure SHE is not the reason at all.:p

Hopefully,he will find his own place ASAP.

Rio, sorry to hear that. My brother is in a similar situation, but complicated by the fact that he has nearly full custody of his kids (his wife pretty much abandoned the two eldest to him). Anyway, he's in dire straights financially, his life is in a shambles and to top it all of he just got his new GF pregnant (liternally "new", like he's only known her a month or two).

While I'm in no position to help him at the moment being as I'm going through my own things (you know about that), at least I do have some means of being able to but I just can't. I see him complain about his finances yet he's pissed away money on 2 tattoos recently :mad: So, while he moans about not having the money for a lawyer to get him through the last round of this divorce, I just can't allow myself to offer the help, as I'm too aware that what he does have friviously gets spent on things which are unnecessary.

It's big-hearted of you to invite him to stay, but absolutely setting some boundaries is necessary to keep you sane. Maybe writing out a list, some guidelines now before he gets there might be a good start.
