I love you.

There was a crash outside a few minutes ago.....another big branch came down in my driveway, this one right in front of my car. Ans even bigger one came down up the street, blocking the road. This is really heavy, wet snow. Yuck!.

DO NOT send that up here. Thanks in advance.

Morning folks!

My apologies for the poor picture quality but Buddy and Rufus wanted to make an appearance here.

They were worried about Brenda having a cat overdose. :)

What good dogs! dogs are so great.

Here's a picture I took of my daughter's dogs in Oregon. They had just had baths. They are really good dogs.

I've never set foot inside a WalMart, and don't plan on doing so in the near future.
My husband and I had to go there a few years ago when we needed an emergancy car battery at midnight. It was full of young couples with small children. Obviously people who work multiple jobs and odd shifts have to shop at non-traditional times but it was quite surreal. There are plenty of reasons not to shop there.

Yep. I don't look down on anyone who does, I realize forthem it is necessary, but I'm grateful I have the ability to go elsewhere. But I am steadfast in that that company will NEVER see a penny from me.

OK I give up. I moved my car from the driveway to the street, and..that's right. ANOTHER tree branch came down within inches of it.

I work at a WM, so do a few of my friends, and I'm always amazed at these "consumer watchdog" websites. 99% of them are created by unions that are trying to get into WM, same people that hire people to picket non-union stores. I pull in $12.25/hour to sell tv's, my friend pulls in $11.85/hour to sell cel-phones at another WM. My brother works PT overnight while going to school and makes $10.50 and we all get $1.00/hour extra on Sundays. I and my friend both have full medical coverage for about $65/month, my brother is my "dependent" so he just rides on mine LOL. The average pay at the WM's we work at is well above the local average of around $9/hour.

When one of our co-workers is in need the entire store comes together to raise money for them, often exceeding the amount required.

I don't know of anyone being required to work off the clock, you will be fired if you do it.

BTW, reason to shop there? How about cel-phones for 25% or less of what the retail stores sell them for. I love heading to AT&T stores and asking them why they charge $200+ after rebate for the exact same cel-phone that WM charges $0 for with no rebate :) They hate me LOL.

EDIT: As for Costco, sorry but I like being treated as a human being, not a "cog in the machine" as I was called when I worked at one briefly. Their are no humans there, only machines keeping the store running, easily replaceable.

I'm at home, NW Jersey. It's coming down pretty good. There is a dusting on everything. There was even some thunder a little while ago.
you can keep it. I'm north of you and it's raining. I can live with that.

Maybe you should move your car TO where one of the tree branches fell? Falling branches never strike the same place twice...err sumthin like that.

.

I'm running out of spots. The second branch did clip the car, so now there are dents on the other side beyond the side that was hit last month. My poor little SUV has taken a beating lately.

No you really can't blame anyone for shopping or working there. But I'd rather support stores that don't seem to be creating and perpetuating the need for a huge class of underpaid workers as employees and customers.

It's good to hear that you are doing ok. (You must live in a place where the cost of living is considerably less than it is here.)
It is a shame that some people who who have positions of power in some labor unions and some who claim to represent unions engage in shady practices but if it weren't for the labor movement of the early 20th century and the power that organized labor clings to today most of us would pretty much be slaves.
And if it weren't for the union busting and anti-union propaganda of the last thirty years U.S. workers would today be enjoying a lot more prosperity (and fat cats a bit less) than we are.

(The few Costco's I've shopped at have been staffed by seemingly fully human people.)

 It's hard to imagine as I sit by my open window looking out at blue skies. I'll cross my fingers that you and your possessions make it through the storm intact.

I am considering it. I have to have a new driveway done anyway, so I might look into it.

I'm happy that you have a good situation in your job, as I'm sure many do, but it doesn't change the contempt I have for that company, for a variety of reasons. I will drive further and pay more gladly before patronizing them.

punkin!! That stinks...but so glad it missed your car. We have got to get you a car made of titanium or something. No chance of a carport?

(Edit: just saw that you were talking about this with Vamp.)
