Nope! Not saying that either!

If a store has a reputation of attracting "white trash" and you see "white trash" walking around it at 2 AM, what would you think?

My first thought was "Way to keep the stereotype!" Its like walking into an Adult Video Store wearing a Trenchcoat & no pants!

My husband played music there and we used to take step-kids back and forth to their mom's house. I think it is very weird.

remember the guy who sang "my name is michael, i've got a nickel, i've got a nickel shiny and new..."? well, he was my first/last vegas show. it was worth all the wierdness to see him, and also, a very superb trumpet player in his band got us in for free and also gave my hubby a free helicopter ride over the red rock canyon and all the magic that happens out in the open desert (cliffs included). that was cool. pays to know people who know people in great places.

I love that, lived there for a few months years ago and was so happy. I like being able to leave the house at 3am and buy a steak dinner at the casino for a few bucks :)

or bring a large bag with cat designs all over it into the texas station (prefilled with gallon sized baggies) and steal turkey and roast beef for lunch for the next whole week.... for $10 at any time of day/night.

okay, not that i did that or anything. *whistles innocently*

Uhm, by offering goods at low enough prices to be affordable by lower income people. Yep, downright evil.
more like intentionally gouge their own prices and even sell at a loss untill they drive out all of their competition. I live in an area where WM has advanced into the latter stages once they are the only show in town. They are not all that cheap anymore. Quite expensive on a few common things like soda and milk. And WM can only employ so many people. Alot of us "lower income people" are finding it difficult to afford what WM has become. Those low prices don't fall out of the sky. They externalize cost where they can, and just make up for it other ways or other places.

California, most expensive cesspool in the country, good weather though.
Presumably you're not where I am, in San Diego. Young people I know tell me they could not live here on what you say you earn. Here's what our ultra-conservative local paper said about Wal Mart in 2004:

Thanks for those links, Kaimi. I read a really interesting book a few years ago called "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America" by Barbara Ehrenreich. She's a mid-forties year old woman, and she lived an experiment for 6 months, where she took minimum wage jobs (waitressing, maiding, Wal-Mart) to see if she could make a living. Nope. It's a shocking book, very sad.
I read excerpts from that book!
Having partied when I should have studied, I personally have had a lot of low end jobs in my life. Although I managed to earn more than minimum wage I never earned enough to buy myself new furniture, let alone dream of buying a house on my own. Fortunately eventually I married someone who could earn a living wage and my parents were hard working thrifty folk who left us the family home.

Great story. My husband always says that there are areas around Las Vegas with a high spiritual energy. But in the city, weird. In a way that is kind of fun for a while but I get tired of it pretty quickly.

That was my best score out of several tries. My worst was over 4.5. As a self styled artist I like to think that this is the kind of thing I'm good at but it was harder than I would have thought to be really accurate.

I wonder how Brenda's doing. Hopefully snug in her warm bed, no more broken branches and no need to dig anything out of snow in the morning.

from the forecasts I've gotten here and the way she was describing her end, tree branches downing power lines is a widespread concern. She's prolly sipping coffe by candle light and fidgiting.

Sadly, I am just that insane. No medication in me. Which reminds me. I probably should take something. Or have taken something. Bunny didn't react well to living in my stomach :( Burst forth and then river danced on the roof of the hangout. Size of a giant tentacle monster at that point. I think that was the bunny. I do not recall eating a tentalce monster.

You are just like a member of the cannibal tribe who had a very upset stomach after dinner one day.

Good morning thread dwellers. :)

What'd I miss?

Important safety tip: When testing a new vehicle script for the first time, make sure you save a copy to inventory first. So when things go horribly wrong, you don't lose hours worth of work! /me runs in circles with his hair on fire.

Here, Jer, let me put that out for you.

Er....can you breathe in there Jer?

/me wonders if it is worth setting his hair on fire to persuade Honey to allow him to snuggle into her chest again.

Pep (On reconsideration, he will wait for someone else on the thread to set him alight)

I'm here, no worry. Things settled down in the evening. A ggod portion of the snow is gone in my neighborhood, but areas not far from here, at higher elevations wound up with 8 to 14 inches. No one can remember a snowstorm this early in the year in Jersey.

Vamp, you left out my favorite WM trick. Pressuring suppliers, especially small ones to lowere their prices to almost a loss, then making them sell to WM exclusively.

Ooooh....shoe lovers!
10-29-2008 06:22
CCTV dropped a texture on me of a new pair of shoes.

Now, CC knows that I love him to death, but I am a fierce critic of shoes. I opened the texture and almost wept - they are that incredible. If you already shop his store, it's the shoes on the "Picks" picture.

I don't know if he has them ready to go out the door, but when he does, OMG, you've so got to get a pair!

Um, yes, I'm spamming the thread, but it's not for MY business....lol

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.
