I don't have problems with spiders, normally. But roaches, that's a different story. Serious heebie-jeebies! I would have FREAKED.
Yeah, most spiders do not really bother me - I played with daddy long legs as a kid at the lake -- but I absolutely cannot stand cockroaches. June bugs also really freak me out - they sound so gross when they fly into things and they crunch horribly when you step on them. Yuck.

My spider story - on a trip to Costa Rica, while at a campsite, all of a sudden one of the girls screamed like she was dying. We all ran to her tent and there is her suitcase open and a tarantula about the size of my hand sitting on her clothing in the suitcase. Something that big might have made me scream too. My husband got a really good close up picture of it that is just fabulous.

I need to vent. Not about anything here, about my job. A bit of background first.

I've been here for over 20 years. I have put up with quite a bit of crap between 2 bosses who are completely at odds with each other, lately more than ever. Both of them, use me as a pawn at times to find out info on each other. Thats is part of it.

Additionally, I out of the kindness of my heart over a year ago agree to work part-time to help them out financially over a rough period. It was only supposed to be for the summer, lasted much longer. 2 days a week from full time. About 2 months ago they put me back on 3 days. Wow. Ok, now this wasn't so awful at first, for various reason but right now, it's become excessively difficult for me personally and I really need at least one more day. Let alone trying to cram all this work into 2-3 days has been very stressful to say the least. A lot has gone undone, or glossed over, or pushed aside. Only the most important things are attended to, to keep things barely going. Surely one would think they would recognize this?

Ok so one boss right now is extremely angry with the other (partners) and finally wrote a long email to him stating all of his grievences, which I happened to come upon because, he has given me access to his email due to the fact that I need to have it in order to do my job efficiently. In finding this email, I now read the following in it, which relates to ME:

"And yet you keep an un-interested assistant who we pay (and I pay for emotionally) to thouroughly attend to her personal life on company time, without any reprimand or attempt at correction, while our office systems crumble around her."

OMFG. People, I have been the most reliable, dedicated and INTERESTED assistant this company could ever have hoped for. Let alone, a pushover to boot. If anything, I have been begging them to make me more informed. Lately, they tell me nothing, give me no guidance. The other day, there was a deadline for a proposal and nobody told me this. I was sick, took the day off and it happened to be the day of the deadline. But, I was unaware of it, and had I known, would have dragged my ass in.

Additionally, I don't know what he means by he pays for it emotionally. I barely say anything about my private life here, unless asked. I keep it well out of the office, always have. Let alone, this person happens to be my friend! He was prior to becoming my boss, so duh, if he happens to know stuff about me, how am I supposed to not let him? Out of the office, he IS still my friend. Cripes. And how do I thoroughly attend to my personal life? I don't take any personal calls here at all. I don't make them, or rarely. I don't abuse the office for my use other (ok, I post here lol, but they don't see me do this). While I joke about doing nothing here at times, I am reallly working my ass off non-stop, stressed out beyond belief. I mean, this guy literally threw something nearly at my face last week (a magazine). He's a nut job at times. The other boss is an old fart, who just barely can be bothered.

As for things crumbling? Of course they are! I'm only here 3 days a week! Bring me back full time and things will get back on course. But, they still don't want to pay me to be here. So, well, this is what happens when you don't have a full time assistant. Stuff eventually falls apart. How can I be expected to know what is going on around here, when I'M NOT HERE!!!

Ok, sorry for using this place to complain. I don't ususally do this but I was so upset when I saw that. Now I'm all worried he wants to get rid of me, and believe me, this is NOT the right time of my life to have to worry about losing my job (not that it ever is but, right now, particularly). After 20 years with these people, to have read that, no less from someone who is supposedly a friend, was very harsh and I'm just not sure how to even respond or act right now.

Feel free to give input.

/me waves

love the avvie Nika :)

haha, you know, I had no clue you guys were already talking about spiders when I posted that piccie, lol, wierdness.

Creepy crawlies really freak me out, especially ones with lotsa legs...or segmented bodies. But I refuse to kill them. I even catch wasps and let them outside instead of swatting them.
Fleas however are another matter. My cat seems to have picked up a case of the itchies, so I'm gonna deflea her tomorrow...I have mad bites all over my arms and feet and it's killing. She's gonna hate me, but I gotta do it lol. I'll be lucky if I can type afterwards :S

Poor Mustang Jerboa :( Those are nice cars. Sure it was a bee and not a wasp? Wasps are nasty buggers like that. Besides, some bees aren't all that bad :p :

Oh Elora, I'm sorry--that really sucks. If it were me, I would approach him about it right away, today. Don't let it fester. I would tell him exactly what you just said to us and see what his explanation is. Good luck, take care :)

I'm sorry Elora :( thats crappy (would use stronger words normally). This guys definitely should not start using you as a pawn in his problems with the other guy, and seems like a total a-hole for taking it out on you and saying such things. He needs a slap and told to do what you have to get done in a day. They never know how much you do and how hard it is to do what you do until you're not there anymore.

*huge hugs*

OK...so, everyone saw that Star Trek movie, "Wrath of Khan", right?....

Well, one brother & his wife are very active in The Society for Creative Anachronism (http://sca.org/), and each summer, they spend 2 weeks in Pennsylvania at something called The Pennsic Wars. Anyway, they are camping/sleeping in pavilions, not using electricity, wearing medieval/renaissance era clothing, etc. One night, my sister-in-law woke up with a pain in her ear...only to discover a HUGE bug lodged in her ear canal!!!

After the crisis was over, I said, hey, isn't this why people used to wear those sleeping caps to bed? And I asked her why she hadn't. She was not too happy with me.... :D

I totalled my first car thanks to a bee. Sucker stung me on a winding road, on a tight left curve, with a truck coming the other way. Mr. Mustang...meet Mr. Tree.

aaaaa - critters in the car!! Thank goodness your son didn't freak out!
I think he was about 3 years old the last time he freaked out. He was totally cool - so I pretended I almost was too.

My exact sentiments this one seemed to be about 3 inches long! But the biggest ones I ever saw was in the locker room when I worked at a beef slaughter plant in Wichita. Those suckers were 4-6 inches long and they FLEW! Believe me we checked our boots before we put them on. When some one saw one they'd sort of shriek and then the rest of us would start shrieking too, even before we even saw what started it. Because we knew.

Ew ew ew ew ew ew ewwwwwww

I used to be sorta okay with roaches. As okay as you could be, I s'pose. Then I had an hour long ride in a bus once that was infested with the things. Never quite been able to really handle them since.

While many won't now go to Greenie's Home because of the entry fee, I won't because of the roaches they put in. Never, ever gonna go back now.
