G'mornin thread!

Last day of Burning Life, so I'll be blowin' u... I mean, doin' fireworks at my camp today.

Last night was a lot of them too, with the burning of the man. Someting like 203 avatars in the four sims surrounding the man. 200 residents, two Lindens, and one Tester account. This marked the first time I ever saw Philip Linden in-world, an only the secodn time i seen him in any world.

The crowd, from far above:

Blame him:

In other fun on th' playa was kite flying...

...and pogo stick racing.

Which my brother Pygar won. :-)

Everyone have a fab day will pop in as I can.

Either that or his avatar is doing a great job of transferring fantasy into my RL :p

I had a great time at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. HUGE crowd there today. I suspect that's because, in addition to the people who had always intended to come this weekend, we had all the people there who had planned to attend last weekend, but the weather was so awful, they postponed their trip 'til this weekend. And then this weekend's weather is unbelievably lovely: sunny, little breeze, high was about 71. Perfect for wandering abount the sim, er, the um, grounds, of the festival. :p

And every person that I saw dressed in medieval or renaissance fare, I wondered...hey...are you in SL? Do I know your avatar??? :D

By the way, Ghosty's three new photos are amazing. Congrats, Ghosty. :) Sorry you were having problems, Elora. :(

OK...headed to bed now. Sweet dreams, threadies!

Thanks Maureen. I'm totally frustrated with this computer. Plus I wasted a hot outfit to boot :( Although I did stay up for SNL, which I haven't watched in eons and found it surprisingly amusing last night, for a change. Helped that one of my fav bands was on (Killers).

I love those new photos of his. I was with him when he shot the original photo for Pestilance's Garden,, it was interesting to see the process/evolution of how he gets it to it's final state.

BTW, I've always wanted to go to one of the Renaissance festivals but never found anyone who was interested. They kind of seem a bit corny and all, but hey, whatever. I kind of like the idea of dressing up like that, playing Queen for a Day lol. I'm curious..did you dress up?

Yup. Agreed. I thought publishing a photograph that *I* took especially nostalgic. Awws. Sweet isn't it? Bringing back those memories...

Yup - I was quite surprised by the original post myself. Some people can't leave things buried in the past, but feel the need to make public RL statements, in RA as well!

Oh, and to use your own words Elora, the poster was "certainly ... bound to know it was going to incite some particular people by posting it".

But I chose to respond in a measured way, kindly congratulating the poster on the new acquisition. What's wrong with that?

Well.... I'm babysitting a Ferret for a week. Maybe longer.

May I have it please, I miss mine terribly. I love it when they lick your face and drowned you with their kisses. Do the Indian joy dance and fall off the bed backwards then swear at you. Give it a scratch under the chin for me and a honey nut cherrio.

They are corny, but that is part of the fun. I go to the one in Tuxedo, NY every year. It's a lot of fun, I don't dress up, but enjoy the performers, and there are some great vendors as well. And you have to have the required Smoked Turkey Leg, Pickle, and Yard of Ale. *My favorite.*

Yummy! I signed up for their newsletter so I'll be reminded next year :)

Apparently right now, for Halloween it becomes "The Forest of Fear". Looks like a whole lot of fun too:

I recently went to a RenFest here in New Jersey.. good times! (although, sadly, there were no huge turkey legs to buy/eat)

On the down side, my girlfriend lost her glasses.. but..

on the up side, it was fun!

we watched our friend dance as part of a gypsy troupe, bought my girlfriend a leather mask (not THAT kind) and some clothes/jewelry.. there was also a guy there with djembe drums, who i talked to and was convinced to sit with and play for a bit.. then i bought one (it has wood for "skin"!).

we also had our fortunes (Tarot) read.. the guy i went to was great and really knew what he was doing.. you could see that he could "feel" the energies and interpret them with meaning. the woman my girlfriend went to wasn't so hot.. REALLY distracted by some gun(/cannon?) fire and paused to grumble and make comments about it.. and her reading seemed tainted by the environment and her personal feelings and whatnot.

overall.. RenFests are a lot of fun.. (so are Ren themed places like Medieval Times!)

and hello again everyone :D

It seems every year I run across someone who hasn't been to Medieval Times. So I take them to the one out by Giants Stadium.

I NEVER would have guessed they hold one in Lakewood, of all places. Let alone it's been going on that long. I've been living in in NJ, on and off nearly my whole life and I'm currently there, albeit in the northern part of the state, closer to NYC (I'm a NY'er originally and have lived there too on and off, my whole life).

/me makes a note to keep my eyes open for this one too!

That's the one. I stick to the brews, myself.

And re: RennFests...I do have a garland I wear..sort of like this...only with flowers instead of berries

I haven't dressed up, yet, mostly because I haven't gotten my RL act together to have some good clothes to wear!! But I started making my design last night.

Good afternoon everyone. I had a fun morning off at the shooting range with my National Guard son. He helped me lots with my accuracy using my pistol and it was some nice mom/son time. I sometimes don't realize how much I miss the kids being in the house until we get together again for something.

Purty!

Yea, seems like maybe my driver could have been at least partially to blame. Updated that and it appears to have helped. Unfortunately SL decided to boot me out and I can't get back in now

I'm beginning to get very worried about whether or not I'm going to be able to get that photo done for the calander.

/see many late nights ahead...

Yep! It does all that and more!

Our house aint exactly the most "ferret safe" house, so I have to watch her when I let her out to run & play.

She's trying to get the cat to play with her, but the cat is too darned fat to move :)
