Well - I'm having fun. I guess that qualifies as something. I'm not exactly banking on stolen Spongebob Squarepants lyrics and the occasional Letter from the Lindens gag to pay for my retirement. From a fiscal standpoint, I'm wasting whatever I've got. From a life-enjoyment standpoint, I'm making the most of it.

/me thinks its very kind of the forum folks to play on this thread, keeping it alive so Angelique LaFollette will see it when she checks in.

(And, Severian, if she doesn't check in you might want to drop her a PM and ask her opinion, since she knows Gor rather well, and is a very helpful person. Be prepared, however, with a good definition of what exactly you mean by "low-key".

You know...I always find it interesting the reaction any Gorean thread gets when it is another fantasy environment some people enjoy. And most of those making fun of those who enjoy Gor (although I admit the state of Gor on SL is not really Gor according to the books as Colette pointed out) have either read maybe one book or heard about Gor from someone who heard about it from someone...well, you get the picture.

I don't see the same postings occur when say, Nekos, are mentioned, which I particularly find a bit odd. But, different strokes for different folks, eh?

I've started a dictionary of Brit-speak to help me deal with Herzog, if anyone needs a copy. It will eventually be compiled with our collection of Claire-isms to make one handy, comprehensive volume.

Compared to the typical RL marriage, RL Goreans are all loony. Some are just more loony than others.

I expect some RL Goreans consider the typical marriage as loony, that would make sense.

I never said people shouldn't be able to be Real Life BDSM either.

Though I know a couple who are into that who let their 15 year old daughter use their equipment in the basement with her boyfriend. I considered that poor judgment.

Nope - I make fun of pretty much eveyone. It's pretty well established that I don't mean any harm and I'm just goofing off. If Goreans are enjoying themselves, then I respect what they do. Same for Nekos, vampires, BDSM, cowboys, space pirates or whatever other RP people are into.


But I'm still going to goof on them a little.

The RL Space pirates are the worst.

It only becomes an issue when those who are casting aspersions on one of those groups, take their particular niche a bit too seriously. The "Yours is just a Kink/Roleplay. Mine is a lifestyle". Puhleeze.

We used to have a Divisional Director called Gorman - he was pretty useless.

Right - it's generally better for you if you try not to take much of anything too seriously. If you can't laugh at yourself, then you really need to get some perspective.
