Yes Victorria, I've NEVER run across such a high concentration of people that do nothing but band-wagon together and bash someone else's beliefs. Some of you show high aptitude for writing and language, but your wisdom and individuality is lacking. I hear more, "Moooooo" than I do, "This is what I think..."

.

Any opinion I post on these forums is strictly that ...MY opinion. It is not any more valid than anyone elses. I have no illusions on this. I don't claim MY statements to be absolute truths or the product of superior enlightenment. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go gas up my SUV while I run the AC awhile to cool down my house.

"the Secret" came from an Australian TV writer/producer. She made her way through Larry King and Oprah to promote it. I wonder who the target demographic is for this product?

I saw her on tv the other day. She was dressed like a hippy and that was enough to put me off. I listened, but wasn't convinced by what I heard.

If you're happy with your HDTV and SUV...and if you're happy to believe in only tactile essentials...that's OK, but just understand that no matter how smart you think you're being...we don't know a fraction of what's out there.

Ah, but in my opinion the fraction that we *do* "know" is greater than the sum of the "knowledge" of all the Eastern gurus taken together and then some. Again, if you feel the need to add things to that fact-based knowledge base that we have, then I respect your right to do so, but many of us are quite content with our fact-based knowledge base, thank you.

I love New Yorkers. They understand stoicism. Something the rest of the world could learn about.

How can you say this. This is the very MIRROR you should be looking at.

Wait wait..I'M close minded for seeing that which is not on TV or in front of my face.. I'M close minded? Can you not see how ridiculous this is?

PS. I know more about WWE than the majority of people here--that's just a guess. So, how open-minded am I now?

My point was simply that other people may see the world around them and come to different conclusions. The fact that they may come to a different conclusion than you does not make them close minded.

BTW - has anyone here claimed to know everything? I mean, besides you that is ;) heh heh

Heh heh, seriously though - We all muddle through life trying to find the best path. What works for some may not work for others. I'm glad you have found a system that works for you. :)

Michael - come on. You aren't close minded because you have some insight resulting from your education and the books you have read. You are close minded because every time someone debates your beliefs you act like they have insulted your mother. Just relax. It's ok for people to disagree with you. That doesn't make you or them bad people. Everyone has a different insight and a different philosophy because we are all creatures of our environment. Our upbringing, our surroundings, our genetic predispositions - everything is different, which means we take a different perspective. My perspective is that nobody here (in this thread) has given you cause to be all offended. If you accept that their beliefs are different than yours and that it's not terribly important to your life whether they think you are a nut job or not, then you'll be happier.

I'm thinking of putting this quote on a T-shirt. How about this for a new SL get rich quick business. A line of t-shirts with out-of-context Michael Bigwig quotes. I'll split the profits with you 70:30.

That's the point. She's getting rich off peddling something that is pretty much common knowledge anyway. No, that isn't a tacit admition that I believe it - I don't - action is what get's results, not just thinking about them.

I was going to say something similar, that he seems flabbergasted that anyone would DARE not agree with him, share his beliefs, or be sufficiently awed by his admittedly diverse interests. I said very early it's not what you say it's HOW you are saying it.

I love America in general. My father was career military...so I have patriotism, and I'm pleased enough to continue living here. But this does not mean that I have to like the average "opinion" and "holier than thou" attitude.

I mean come on...if I actually handed this entire thread over to an eastern guru...they would understand why America is full of hidden-strife, and subterfuge wealth. A culture and society needs more than wealth and economy to thrive for any length of time. History proves this.

If you're happy with your HDTV and SUV...and if you're happy to believe in only tactile essentials...that's OK, but just understand that no matter how smart you think you're being...we don't know a fraction of what's out there.

Not to turn your old argument against you, but just like you can't see why anyone wouldn't want to use voice...apparently a lot of us can't see why anyone would fall for "the Secret".

I like you, Mike. You seem to be a smart guy that thinks things through in general...but you also get a bit overzealous to the point where you feel someone has to be crazy or otherwise lacking to not see things your way.

Not everyone that doesn't buy into the marketing ploy of "the Secret" has or wants an SUV or HDTV and is otherwise shallow as you imply. It's okay for people to disagree with you using the same kinds of barbs you use without being accused of being lesser than you.

In fact, why doesn't "the Secret" get sold at the cost to print it up? Why would something that's so essential to life as we know it turn for a profit?

Like Jesus or not, you can get a Bible for free! I bet the same goes for the Qua'ran, the Torrah (or whatever the official name for the Hebrew texts) and Buddha's diary!

What the hell. There are so many negative threads on here at the moment.

Don't you gloomy people realise that negativity BREEDS more discontent, misery and gloom?

Yes things are frustrating atm but ... wow ... enough whining!

whining about whining threads doesnt' help either we have had several of these "shut up" threads they do no good other then to add to the problem

p.s. this forum is usually like this just different levels of whine I guess you never saw it when ageplay and news about age verification hit. The first page was nothing but threads on one subject. This happened at one point with bots one person was opening at least 2 threads per day. Its just how forums work lol kinda have to just live with it yelling at people to stop really only ads to the problem not subtract from it :P

See, a prime example of how we all are looking at the same thing and come to different conclusions. :)

lol.

My WWE comment was in context...you missed that I guess.

Let me clear this up. I don't make anybody feel bad about their beliefs. That's exactly what I'm fighting against. How can you claim this? The problem I have is with people being mean, critical, flaming, and purposefully difficult.

I'm not the one saying, "You're wrong." -- You guys are. I'm simply asking you to open your mind. I'm not being a jerk...but a lot of you are. That's one of the problems. I never tell anyone they need to believe in something, or they are wrong. Find a quote of mine that I have said that (and quote the WHOLE text please, and keep it in context--no skewing)

:)

Hey, I read "The Secret" I'm totally down with you Cherry. The power of attraction is the most powerful force in the Universe--it works every time (whether we want it to or not, it doesn't care about 'good' or 'bad', it brings to us what we think and feel)

Here you state that the secret works as if it were fact. By stating something as if it were fact, that is the same as saying that the opposite is incorrect.
