From: Brenda Connolly Oh I don't know. As bellicose as we can get debating the merits of the Secret is right up our alley. I've been involved in several RL doozies on the topic. It seems to create strong feelings on either side. Personally I found it to be a lot of metaphysical nonsense. I understand the theory, I just don't buy it. Brenda...you may not buy it, because you haven't seen it in action...at least, you aren't aware of seeing it...it's all around you. I used the secret for things as large as getting my new job, to finding a parking spot. I'm not kidding...what I DON'T agree with about The Secret is using it to get rich...that's like praying to God to win the lotto...not cool in my book. But...to each is own. Regardless of how the publishing company swayed the book to make money...the concept is what is we are meant to take away...the concept has been used in eastern culture and society for thousands of years...we only now are getting savvy to it. I'm not kidding though...I've personally seen some incredible things with my own eyes...things far from coincidence. I'm not surprised that our SUV driving, gas guzzling, HDTV society sees the secret as metaphysical bullshit...we are so close minded, it's not even funny.

From: Michael Bigwig Wow, you guys. Would you DARE go on a forum and post that Christianity is "hippie bullshit?"
Incredible. It's NOT hippie bullshit...it's just as scientific as it is spiritual. If you knew that, or were capable of understanding that...you wouldn't have posted what you did.
Incredible. This is The Secret in action...lol. A recent bestselling book has a long way to go before it would be comparible with a Broadly practiced religion. Reguardless of what its about ---------------Edit ----------------- -- Movie w/t/f/e

You don't need to breathe, but if you want to, you have to pay tier. Air tier. If you want to breathe heavily, you need to be in a mature area.
I agree with Mr. Paperclip in the above post. I call him that not only out of respect, but also because it's an immense amount of work to spell his name. Way too much effort for a Friday.
3L (it will save you 20 minutes of camping) and a free biplane to the person who starts the best Friday thread! (That damn biplane has been sitting in my inventory since Help Island). Entries must be posted by noon. Offer void if it's against the TOS to give totally worthless prizes and approx .01 USD for an entertaining thread.

Reguardless of what its about. Colette...the book has NOTHING to do with the contents within. The contents have been used in eastern culture for thousands of years. We stole the concept and sold it...sadly in a book to make money...but don't people buy copies of the Bible too? In fact, if I'm not mistaken, the Bible is the most widely SOLD book in the history of the world. It's the content and concept...not the book.

Incredible. This is The Secret in action...lol. Christianity is also hippy bullshit. I have an IQ of 142 and am therefore capable of understanding most things. Humans are meat on a stick, nothing more. We have no soul, no spirit, no Chi, no Mana or any other name you want to give it. The Secret works, but not in the way people think. It works because you get what you want out of life by taking it - by force if need be - not because the universe likes you. Using the word "spiritual" itself is enough to make your ideas laughable. As for Eastern Culture - Western Culture is better as evidenced by the economic success of those nations that adopt western values.

It's the content...not the book. You ignoring thee significance of the history of Christianity doesnt mean it didnt happen. 2000 years of Theology and Philosophy , development of organized religion and cutural change is a bit larger than a collection of Self Help techniques. "The Secret" may be awesome , that doesnt put it on the same level as a major world religion. And in case you were wondering - recently a few people DID call Chistianity nonsense in this Forum.

I find the use of the phrase "In my opinion" to be superfluous. I am saying it, therefore it must be my opinion, therefore it is unnecessary to state that it is my opinion. In this case it is also fact.

From: Bodhisatva Paperclip I don't think this really qualifies as a proper Friday thread, if you know what I mean. Could someone please start one of the more typical ones? Points will be awarded for originality so no recycling "SL Manners Nanny" and so on. Thank you. Bah Humbug! Well this wasn't meant to be a Friday thread anyway but it goes to show ... whatever your intention is that others will take it in a different direction no matter what YOU yourself were thinking. Useful allegory for SL itself I feel. AND ... PENGUIN!!!!!! <waddles in a circle>

Don't feel bad, Cherry, you could actually get 3 Lindens and biplane out of this. You should be on the edge of your seat right now hoping nobody posts another Friday-worthy thread.

Why anyone believes in any of this stuff is beyond me, really, but I do respect other people's right to believe in whatever they wish to, and I generally refrain from directly attacking the belief-systems of others because these kinds of debates can't really be resolved rationally, so it's rather pointless in my opinion.

An actual biplane. It's way better than a normal plane because it has extra wings. You can set up a SL crop dusting business and earn Lindens by..um..dusting crops or something. Take newbs for flying tours. Go to airshows and entertain people for tips. RP some freaky Red Baron scene. (/me ties you to the wing and attacks with the sun to his back, etc...). Fly around in medieval rp areas and screw up their scenario. What! Forsooth! It is some great witchery in the sky! Lol - ok, that last one would be kind of mean - don't do that. This contest is nothing short of epic. EPIC!

Who cares what anyone else believes? Believe whatever works for you.
Personally, while I've not read The Secret, I have found that deciding what you want and coming up with a plan for getting it is usually a pretty good way of obtaining quality results in life.....

This thread didn't turn into a debate about "the Secret" did it? That shit's a joke meant to make money off the desperate and gullible.
"Hey single mom in a single-wide...think positive and you'll get rich!"<-the hook
"btw, it's your fault that you're in this situation in the first place!"<-the place-holder
I'm just glad that an Australian TV producer was able to uncover the ancient secrets of comsumerism to share with us all!
