Someone appears to have bought all the ad land behind me and they have all gone - yay! It's now one plot.

Stylee, I can see no justification for cutting up land whether you perceive the surrounding area ugly or not. You are hardly improving the area by land cutting. What constitutes an ugly sim in your eyes?

What tier fee? on a 16sqm plot lol.

yawn yawn yawn. yes Latonia ad sellers only hold 1 plot at a time. oh deary me. :p

anyway i hardly ever cut up land as i stated earlyer. no need to.. there are soo many 16 plots to buy and sell already.

Actually, LL could put a stop to it if more people cancelled their premium accounts and just bought land on private islands. Who do you think they would side with? tier on 16 sq m plots or the lost of $9.95/month for premium accounts and tier fees paid by former mainland users.

Let's do the math, I pay $125/month tier on mainland and pay $9.95/month for premium account. So, even if 10 people decide to leave because of those ads, that's about $1,325 USD a month LL is losting. So, even if just 100 do it which is realistic, $13,250/month is a sizeable chunk removed from LL's pockets.

I'm considering making that move now, just doing my homework on private land owners. May buy a private island so I won't have to worry about ad farms.

I wonder how many mainland land cutters are alts of island owners who want to drum up more business?

I have seen island owners buy ad lots and put ads for their island rentals on them. There's at least one that likes to put them in the really obnoxious ad fields.

"Yeah, come to my island - you won't have to look at this crap there. And I'll take your payment and go buy another mainland lot to cut up so I can drive more business to my island."

Now there's a racket.

Well, now we know what's going on with these 16sqm plots:

Obviously I could buy the whole damn sim but I don't want that. I hate landcutters and the people who place the ads. Are you one?

I always take note of the businesses who buy the adds onthe 16ms. They go immediately to my "NEVER, ever under circumstance patronize list." I would never knowingly even set foot in a business who uses such advertisements.

hey hey ciaran, my alt bought a chunk of land on boncarus!
how do you feel about adfarms amongst your rentals? i'm willing to sell them to you (at a hefty premium of course).
From: Ciaran Laval
Your view doesn't offend me in the slightest but I think you're naive. If people can put up the price of their land by building ad farms in such a small space then unfortunately that's capitalism at its finest.

This is something I wouldn't do but those who do it, fair play to them, that's the world we're in.

Sex sells, this isn't a new concept.

No, just someone who loves freedom. Instead of freedom, you want the State to step in and do what you are too cheap to do yourself.

If we pay you Chris you begin to respond to land cutting like Pavlo's dogs respond to the dinner bell. We pay you to get the 16M plots - so you buy more and we pay you more. There is no end to the extortion that way. So we endorse community and corporate reform instead.

Sorry, I don't cut land. I have bought ad farms bordering my land and joined them into one plot. You call it community and corporate reform, in reality, those are just pretty words for fascism.

Rules are for the rule breakers. Such reform would not effect anyone but the ad farmers - as it should.

Chris

I wonder how you would feel if your neighbour put up tens of rotating ads in RL which you weren't able to buy?

I object to you calling me cheap, I just don't want these people to profit by me paying an extortionate amount for their land.

Not really. since there is so much hate, I love Arbor Project. I have all those little green orbs on all of my lots :). Is that better?

It would be a risk of freedom I would take. In RL, when the county I lived in imposed zoning upon the citizens, over their objections, I moved to a county which did not have such tyranny.

If the ads were on their property and did not encroach upon mine, then I would do nothing. It is none of my business. Private property is sacred. It goes back to a very basic principle "Thou shall not steal". Telling someone else what they can or cannot do with property they own is theft, even more than theft, it is slavery. I refuse to be a slave to any man.

that's why put bought land on a corner next to an unused sim that is only accessible by 3 people (according to the access). It's been that way for a while. and with 14,000 sq m, I put my house next to the unused sim and somewhat close to the corner area. Everything else is spreaded out, so I don't have to worry abut looking at ads :)

Another way to avoid pesky ads is live in Skyboxes or build a platform in the Sky and build your house on it. I think on my region, there are as many Skyboxes as there are places on land. I also own land around an ad area and built a huge box around them and put up my access list of no one :), so those ad farms are very valuable right now.
