Looks like it could be just a few weeks away. I say this because Blue Linden strongly hinted at this timing during his office hours today.
There is also supposed to be an upgrade coming shortly from Jive for Clearspace so the timing may be dependent on that.

I can't help wondering how many Lindens have noticed how clunky and unfunctional the Blog is as compared with this place.
Of course they couldn't say so if they did notice.
But it would be interesting to know.

Oh they know but they can't back away. The feeling is "they'll make it work better eventually".

Wonder if they will archive anything? I’m looking at some of my old subscribed threads. Makes me sad

Might be a good time to start the 'so long and thanks for all the fish' thread, to see where everyone goes or what everyone is going to when we all have to move on out of here...............

Most people already found a "backup" in other forums. You may want to look around and find one for yourself; before it is too late and you can't ask anymore here. This forum here is nothing but a stepchild of LL they would kill rather sooner than later. It's *still* here but discussing it is nothing but beating an already dead horse.

I read this forum daily and have since I started.I enjoy it and still find it hard to believe that this idiot company will close it.I have looked at what they are offering in exchange and it is not up to scratch. I do not know where to go when this one ends ,it could lead to my interest in SL coming to an end.I suspect I might not be the only one.

yea. they will leave this one archived. Like they did the xstreet forums.
will be sad to see hundreds of years of resident expertise erased in places like the scripting lib and all the tips and tricks forums. LL had no problems wiping out all that on xstreet. I managed to save some of my stuff out before they killed it. but I'm thinking of dropping my forum as well so even that will be lost. maybe i'll leave that part online and just get rid of the discussions.
Just goes to show you that if it is important to you then publish it on your personal free blog where it will live as long as blogs live. Another couple of years maybe.

I need to move on with my life anyway. I've spent more time in these forums than anywhere other than work and sleep for years.

This is yet again another one of LL's extremely thoughtless, insensitive and absolutely senseless acts against the residents of SL. Thanks M.

It just goes to show that we're not their target customers. I wonder where they'll direct discussion on the flogorum once this is gone?

This forum was part of the entertainment I get from SL. I don't go inworld every day, but unless I am away on a vacation or other trip, I pretty much check in here most every day. I'll leave it up when I am home and go about my business, looking in periodically. There have been many days where I didn't plan on going inworld, but someone will show a cool place or store here and I wind up logging in. When this one closes, I won't be going anywhere else. This is a stupid move on The Lab's part, though not surprising considering it's current management. I hope the get their More Predictable (tm) world. And I hope they choke on it. FULL.

Well, fun while it lasted.
Seems LL wants to be the source, not the citizens. At least, with the mentors going and now this, it seems so.

FULL. There are multiple alternatives that are entirely suitable for continuing with this branch of entertainment. There is one I haven't added to my list of places to infest but I may infest that one soon. That will make 5 non LL operated SL forums I participate in daily. There is no reason to give up this entertainment. In addition the other non LL forums are all on newer forum code and generally don't censor thoughts and the double plus is you can't be banned from SL for expressing an opinion on those forums. Well not directly anyway.

I'm not interested in going anyplace else and starting over, and I've stopped posting at SLU. There will be no moe foruming for me. Perhaps it will allow me to dust off my neglected Blog.

The forum software has been modified so that it will self-destruct when the post count in the Undying/Never-ending Thread gets to 100,000.
So... the last post in the Forums will be along the lines of "I think I win!!!!" The precise timing will be very uncertain as posters will be gaming the post numbers by deleting their own previous posts where they can to prevent others from hitting the magic post number.

Can someone post replacement forums, or is that forbidden. I find forums so nice for researching answers and learning more about SL, and while I keep to myself mostly in world (and don't post here) I feel connected to people here when I read their stories and ideas.

I don't know why that would be forbidden. I know of SL Universe which is around since quite some time. I never posted there but that might change in the near future hehe. http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/
