When we get some more resmods will Strife finally go away? The manner in which he recently closed a thread and the piling on of charges once more shows the unprofessional and biased behavior he shows on a continual basis.

I totally disagree. I have a huge respect for the work he/she does and hope it continues. Considering how long Strife has been managing the forums alone I think a mistake here and there is forgivable. I find them few and far between. If anything, I think Strife is too lenient as a general rule.

We will have to disagree then Bradley, I find his conduct very unprofessional in nearly every instance.

Every Mod has their own style, and that syle can be influenced by factor such as work load, RL events, personality conflicts, misunderstandings, and repeat abuse...

I don't always agree with strife's handling, but Strife IS human (hopefully I don't get banned for spreading this wild allegation

not all people get along all the time, even when trying to be as polite as possible. more mods = less load = more time for detailed handling... of course for some people that might not taste as good as it sounds.

I think you know, Chris, that Strife has enough support that s/he will go away when s/he feels like it and not before.

However, Strife has recently changed hir moderation style to be more tolerant (I'm amazed that no one has mentioned that so far in this thread), and if more resmods are put in place we could see further changes (for good or ill).

Good changes that might occur:
> Discussion among resmods re:troublesome threads or individuals might result in fewer "arbitrary" decisions
> Exploration of what forum policy is/should be reuspensions and bannings.
> Revising of thread lock text to provide fewer shiny parts for residents to pick at

Or of course if the wrong people are chosen one could see less predictability as to locking and banning, and an increase of "arbitrary" decisions.

Or, given the time this thread has been active, we could see perhaps the most likely outcome of all: status quo, no new resmods. Strife did say that LL hadn't requested more resmods, just permitted hir to submit names.

ever laugh at how funny it is to watch people try to guess unknown gender? if they're really polite they'll usually stumble about with s/he (or hu,hir for the activists) if they are trying to obnoxious they'll add "it"... when the lazy assume one or the other it generally falls to male if it's a positive post, female is it's not (unless the subject is aggression) and some capitalized version of the same if they are trying to be blatantly offensive by trying to guess wrong.... I bet Strife has a laugh every time we post ...

yes, I have to say Strife does a wonderful job, and i agree he's a bit too lenient. For instance, I wouldn't continue to allow Jumpman to basically run amok on the forums as he is. He's not contributing anything worthwhile, and seems to have forgotten the purpose of these forums, which is help and communcation amongst residents of Second Life, not flaming, bashing, and shameless self promotion and virtual masturbation. It's probably good I won't be a mod here, as if you think Strife is bad, I'd be 5 times worse. So think about that before you are so ready to jump on Strife. The devil you know is often better than the devil you don't.

I was just hit with a wild thought ... perhaps this is why Jumpy is so active right now. He has stated that he thinks that more resmods are a mistake.

Mayhap if he can cause enough stuff to be sent LR way, LL will decide it's still a zoo here and not worth any more effort. Thus no more resmods, and we are all left with only the devil ... or resmod ... we know.

It is time LL actually listened to their paying customers and reopened the general forums. I would hold you to the same standards I hold Strife, unprofessional conduct will be called unprofessional.
