ResMod Recruiting: Volunteers Wanted

The ResMods do not see who made reports but some people sign them and some people have very distinctive writing styles.

I don't keep ARs when I'm done processing them, I delete them (otherwise I would have a very full mailbox). At one point I talked of writing a system for doing extensive tracking and AR management but it looked like too much work.

Malachi, your name does not come up at all in any of the Private ResMod forums. Doesn't mean your posts weren't reviewed just that we never mentioned your name. Which probably means there is no lingering distrust directed at you from the ResMod archives.

I just noticed this thread. I would offer to moderate some if you still need someone. I read nearly every day, and I would like to think I know a good post from a bad one. I honestly don't know about the AR thing though lol. :)

200+ well damn that counts me out... 2+ years of reading the forums, but prefering to not post since I don't enjoy fighting with others or opening up to flames..(tho oooh so many times i've had my finger over the Submit Reply button and stopped myself, knowing that I know better then to stoop low....)

well having been away for more than a bit I don't know how qualified I am, but I WOULD like to get a lil more involved again. volunteer work is fun for me, and despite any problems I have encountered in SL it's still my favorite online "thing to do"

I haven't been a mod on a board in years, but ran a couple (sadly gone), so I have rhino thick skin, but a soft touch. my english is good, and I can pick through some spanish, french, and a hair of german if it's not too technical.

no pay, horrible hours, crabby complaints, occasional bouts of people people going mad? just another day as a volunteer =)

having an excuse to rabidly read and interact with people? bonus

god like super powers? yay! (just kidding)

possible villianization? with my family? hah, cake walk!

giving back to the community? priceless

crap i forgot alax ..honest i did, but it must have been interesting,,,but nvm back to the topic. how many slight minor bannings can be overlooked and ya still get to be a res mod. i am SO qualified and have only been banned 3 times. 2x from the forums (and sl 7 days and 14 days) and 1 time from sl for one day (for sending an entire sim to flight school for a bit) but i learned my lession ...honest i did and so very much wanna be good and helpful...and er...helpful...and...ah...GOOD! :P

To clarify how this came about: I was discussing forum moderation with Iridium, and when we came to the topic of new ResMods she said she would consider anyone I recommended. They are not infact asked me to solicit for volunteers. I couldn't think of anyone at the time who I knew would accept.

That said, we also talked about closing the forums; the forums require constant maintenance from both LR and ResMods.

I referenced those two threads above so people could get an idea of the requirements, currently there is no rotation setup but if LL approves enough ResMods to allow for a rotation system, there is no reason we couldn't do one.

The requirements boil down to this:
Will you do good things with the ResMod powers?


I suspect the people who would make good moderators are the ones who arnt volunteering ;P

It doesn't take brilliance to be a moderator. Just an even hand, a sense of fair play, an understanding of the rules, and as Strife mentioned, a thick skin. Honestly, I hope I don't get it, as I know what a pain in the butt it can be, but I would hate to see the forums close simply because nobody would step up. So I've made my offer, and can sleep with a clear concience. :)
