From: SuezanneC Baskerville Shooped Life? Hardly. Shoopedlife is written under the philosophy of obfuscation; that is, try to guess every last thing that LL uses or will ever use to create the identifying hash or hashes that they will then use for a hardware ban. LL's solution to this is brain-blastingly clear, though it appears that either they haven't thought of it, or they've implemented it poorly. There's no reason to go that far to have anonymity in Second Life, and that's not what the client I wrote is for. Nor is it for getting around hardware bans, which themselves are as easy to get around as it is to spell "virtualization". Whoops. Anyhow, working black magic from inside the client is the most unnecessary, if one understands that the things one says in a virtual world are far, far more important than the things one does.

1.21 Viewer Download size
10-30-2008 05:55
I remember the days that the viewer download was growing and growing ... finally hitting 35MB. We were promised that we would get smaller downloads: since the release of 1.21 the size has dropped to 21MB. LL delivered !! Well done !!

From: Rawhead Snoodle Hardly. Which, then? Any links? What's special about that hacked client? I think you mentioned the existence of some other hacked clients. What were they called? Got any links to them? What was distinctive about them?

I think you mentioned the existence of some other hacked clients. What were they called? Got any links to them? What was distinctive about them? Not at the moment. It was pulled from public development for a short period, and CVS is just starting to get active again. It looks like the new pilot is steering it into something pretty interesting; a direct competitor that unites server and client in weirdly low-latency peer to peer collective. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm certain once it reaches something resembling a beta it'll be plastered all over the interweb in all the usual places.

1.21.6 and Crashes
11-02-2008 06:51
I noticed a few mentions of crashing with the new version. I have noticed most happening when attempting a right-click (checking a profile mostly.) I moved to a Mac in September, and had NO crashes until 1.21.6 download. I also have noticed very slow rezz times, as others have mentioned.
But I think things will work out...they always do. Keep up the good work.

Just to throw this out there, after recently installing SL on my mom's laptop, running it (it went smoothly), quitting, then turning off the computer, when I tried to start it again, I got a blue screen that wouldn't let me log on, appeared for a split second before looping to restart, that the tech people at my university believe to be a driver issue, but my boyfriend (builds and works with computers at his job) believes it to be a memory issue. I don't know if SL is the reason, but if it is and anyone knows what to do, I'd be grateful for any advice. My boyfriend says he can fix it probably without even reformatting it, but in case he can't, I thought I'd post the issue here, and maybe add some feedback of the new version to the developers.

From: Emeline Magic To disable click sound in 1.21 client (tested on RC)
1) Bring up the "Advanced" menu, ctrl+alt+D on windows 2) Open the "Advanced" menu and select debug settings 3) Select "SndUIClick" (not sure about the name), remove the UUID and validate with enter 4) Select "SndUIRelease" (not sure about the name), remove the UUID and validate with enter 5) Enjoy an immersive experience Note, you can also replace the annoying sounds with something better. In steps 3 and 4 replace the UUID with one of a sound you like.
