Dunno - I was thinking this is all Philip though. :)

I can't see that as unless they had it in writing the biggest joke of all would be she could document this occurence and neglect to mention the private convo leading to this kind of prank and actually wind up owning them. An April Fool's prank is something simple and harmless, but it sure isn't setting yourself up for a possible fall helping someone play a "jest".

one moment.....

HALF A MILLION US DOLLARS?!?!?!

..............

one more time because I just cant fathom it......

HALF A MILLION US DOLLARS?!?!?!

She probably meant over the lifetime of her account. Not all at once.

In any case, I'm still betting it's a joke.

Wouldn't this be considered preferential treatment of a player in SL?

Well, I'd imagine there'd be something in writing... proof and whatnot just in case.

Note that I'm well into playing "Devil's Advocate" at this point.

No, that does not mean I work for Anshe. Sheesh. :p

With all the bugs going on right now from the current upgrades, I can see them taking server time and empolyee time for this kind of prank so to speak. I doubt it's a joke.

The alternative - a joke on us by the OP.

Or - something went down with an unfortunate cooincidence of date - either way if It all comes back on Monday I bet nothing more is said by the OP.

If my account goes to -$1 I can get locked out, why would you expect to not have the same happen when you end up with -4900

If this is an April Fools thing.. is Anshe's gag on LL.. or is it LL's gag on Anshe?

If it is, in fact, serious.... Anshe my sympathies, but if I were designing a system like LL's... I'd have threshhold checks built in. It's fine to allow a grace period for a normal account to be delinquent a normal amount...

But if the debt amount is MORE than anything any 10 or perhaps 100 normal customers might negligently allow to happen... then it makes sense to have a programatical lockdown take place until "expert" human analysis can review and decide what to do about it.

Whether they designed a lockdown condition with you specifically in mind? Who can say.

Of course... You are a force to be reckoned with. If they're peeved at what you're doing, you can fully expect them to use your mistake against you, with all expected thunder and rightiousness.

LL does not provide overdraft protection like banks do...
Have you considered apologizing for letting your account go negative? :o

Anyway. Where there's a last will and testament... there's a way. I'm sure things will be resolved soon. One way or another.

No kidding. If I had a half mill to spend on something I'd be putting it into RL investments that had a lot more solid return rate. And a healthy little chunk into an offshore account as well.

Half a million USD and she can't keep her account paid? Sheesh.

Margins in land are very small. You need turn huge volume. Of course this is money circulation for many months: People pay me, I pay Linden Lab, then people pay me etc. etc. etc.

One also has to ask with that kind of a bill that can't be coverred on time, how on EARTH did she expect to cover and back an alernate currency?

well it still seems to me that the middle part about paying linden got left out this time. I have to ask what's gonna happen to all your residents, if you can't back your accounts?
You got a lot of people buying tier from you instead of Linden. Got a plan in place to reimburse them for thier losses?

With a new US$11 million investment, maybe LL decided that they no longer needed to dance with a devil that required them to overlook things, be overly flexible with, or change the TOS to accomodate their actions? After all when needs must, all businesses get themselves into situations and arrangements they're not comfortable with. But needs don't must as much now.

Or it's an April Fools!

As someone who spent 10 years working for a construction company as bookkeeper I'm fully aware of how transactions work. Anyone who is in business knows to plan ahead for recurrent monthly expenses. As long as you have been in business in SL I find it unbelievable that you did not plan ahead for the expenses you knew you were going to have to pay. Not planning ahead is not sound business practices.

I never said Philip did it. In case you missed my earlier post, I said 'I bet Anshe called LL and said 'Hey, I've got this great idea for an April Fool's.....''

I don't have that money in SL. That number is multiple time cycling smaller amount: buy sim, sell in world, sell L$, buy more sim.
