From: Dmitri Polonsky I have a better idea. Let's just get Linden to ban freebie resellers who call themselves distributors when actually they are labor and L thieves. Let's also get rid of anyone using rigged scripts for casino games.... and while we're at it how about ppl who use alt accounts in the forums to make it look like others are supporting the false panic they're trying to inflict so they can monopolize everything? Easy fix for second life. Get rid of the corrupt a-holes who are trying thier best to run it into the ground for profit. woops....forgot a couple, make all voting for club events public so they cannot be rigged anymore as so many in SL are. Also let's sack anyone who hires "employees" yet does not pay them. Just say NO to freebie resellers and trolls who lie. Use contest wizards in clubs - one vote per pseron, can't vote for themselves, also free to enter. There is no favortism aside form public choice using these..

From: Rasah Tigereye You pay to be able to log in, look around, have spending cash, and have a 512sqm plot of Land. Essentially you pay to see the sky, and the land. Everything else that shows on your screen, from objects, to textures, to animations, sounds, and effects, you do not pay for. Someone else paid for all that. You are just able to enjoy it for free, because there are stille enough OTHER people who are willing to help pay for it, and because the economy is still stable enough to allow others to pay to support it. You know nothing about me! I have more than 512sqm of land. I have bought my share of content. I have made my share of content. I am under no olbigation to support you or any other content provider! Also a lot of the content was made by the Lindens. True it tends to have a high prim count but what do you expect for free? Oh, I am from Okinawa, the Ryukyu Islands

From: Ranma Tardis You know nothing about me! I have more than 512sqm of land. I have bought my share of content. I have made my share of content. I am under no olbigation to support you or any other content provider! Also a lot of the content was made by the Lindens. True it tends to have a high prim count but what do you expect for free? Oh, I am from Okinawa, the Ryukyu Islands First, as it is right now, an extremely tiny amount of in-game content (clothing, objects, land, terraforming, gardens, buildings, water ways, vehicles, and everything else you see when you look around) was made by Lindens. Pretty much everything that is not on your land was made, and thus paid for with time and money, by someone else. You get to look at it, walk around it, and often use and interract with it, for free. But SOMEONE, who is obviously not you, has paid for it. So unless you stay only on your land and enjoy looking at only your own stuff, you are using other people's efforts freely. So, why is it that they feel they have an obligation for you to enjoy their stuff, and spend so much time&money for the betternment of SL, yet you feel you have no obligation to bay them back for all their effort? Yes, it's true, you don't have any obligation to give anything to anyone, but doesn't that make you the equivalent of a moocher/bum? What makes you feel entitled to other people's works without having to ever pay for any of them aside from free money you haven't worked for anyway? (which is just a part of your $10us payment) Second, you said, and I quote, From: someone I show my support for content providers by spending my stipend on content. I just dont buy Lindens to buy content.
You yourself admitted that at most you have paid all these other people about $1.50 a week, which is your stippend. So if you leave or stop shopping when your stippend gets cut, that'll be a loss of about a $1.50 a week. Big whoop. And last, if you are from Japan, and they value intellectual property so much in Japan, how come you don't seem to value the intellectual property of the vast amount of art that gets loaded onto your screen every time you start SL?

Thats fine, take away stipends, take away this so called free money. So instead of paying Linden Labs $9.95/ mo to get my $500L per week, I will stick with a free basic account and BUY my money from the lindens instead.
Lets see, at the current exchange rate my $9.95 will flood the system with $3200 Lindens instead of $2000

LL keeps your $9.95 and prints L$500 every week that didn't exist the week before. If you use your $9.95 to buy L$ on the LindeX no new L$ will be created, you will get a better deal and be buying existing L$.

Can you donate some lindens to me so i can start up my buisness and upload some textures? As it seems you cant make money in SL without spendin some (lindens, or cash for lindens of off lindenx) Dont hate me!

From: Ranma Tardis What in the world are you smoking? I have a real life job that pays real life money. I pay a mortage on a real house and pay real money to send my 2 real children to a private school. What does paying Linden Labs real money to recieve fake money have to do with Communism? It is all relative. We pay real money that you exchange for SL money that you can then engage in economic commerce that at the end of the day can be converted to real dollars again. When you give free money away to basics, who do you think it ultimately comes from? It comes from the paying resident. It also impacts the SL exchange rate negatively. I agree with Jaime. Though we can consider the impact on SL growing the business if the basics they are trying to lure can not get a real taste of the SL culture without some initial grub stake (one time deal). It would be interesting to see the stats on the percentage of basics that become paying residents compared with those that are long term basics and are subsidizing there shop rent through commerce. EIther way, it works. I see the only problem being any continued regular stipend to basics. Linden Labs needs to be wary of chasing total numbers of current residents, basic and premium, to promote publicity which may be to the detriment of the paying resident. I am sure they are watching the account churn and ensuring they do not start sliding the other direction. What it must be like to be King of SL! Regards, Lance

From: Jamie Bergman Quick Primer on Communism v. Capitalism
Communism: Homeless people: Your problem Social Security: Your problem Universal Health Coverage: Your problem Universal Education Coverage: Your problem Lazy Workers: Your problem One Party State: Your problem Unproductive Members of Society: Your problem Feeding Everyone: Your problem
Capitalism: Homeless people: Not Your problem Social Security: Not Your problem Universal Health Coverage: Not Your problem Universal Education Coverage: Not Your problem Lazy Workers: Not Your problem One Party State: Not Your problem Unproductive Members of Society: Not Your problem Feeding Everyone: Not Your problem
See why it makes sense to be Capitalist now? I love having capitalist come with guns demanding money. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

If or when second life is able to stay up for longer then 4 weeks without crashing I would happly put a bit of money into it. Until then I wouldn't dream of paying for a service that isn't up one out of every three times I try to log in.
