You have me beat on both the FIC and the BS meters by a mile lady. You would not know the truth if it came and smacked you in the head. When presented with it, you just change it to suit your purposes as professional instigator/victim. You create a shitstorm, and then it all rains down on you and it is poor Catherine lying there in ruins. You can clean up your statement all you want - you claimed these women are beneath you and not your equal. No distortion, no backtracking, you said it, and then when pushed enough on it, you pulled the "oops my bad I meant we're not equal because I haven't posed nude.". So how about the beneath you part? I think some of the people on this thread have been vicious to Catherine. You may not agree with her opinion but really some of you need to think about what you have written.

I had seen the photographs when i check out that website. I thought they were completely unnecessary and wonder if those concerned would have been as happy to be in those photographs had it been their real bodies on display and not their oh so perfect avs.

Unnecessary? Is it your website? How can you mandate what is necessary or not for something you have no stake in? It has nothing to do with whether or not they would feel comfy putting up their RL pics. It has everything to do with the fact that it is their right to do so, and don't need to be judged on the forums by holier-than-thou-types. THAT is what is unnecessary.

What right do you have to tell people what they can and cannot think? Alexa said "I thought they were completely unnecessary..." That is her opinion and no one else’s. It really doesn't matter if it is her website or not, she felt that it wasn't the right way to do things. However, in the end it does not matter what Alexa thinks, what you think, or even what I think, it is up to the people that produce the content to determine what is good, bad, and ugly.

Vicious - that's just the word I was about to post. People are incredibly vicious towards Catherine. Believe me, that's not a way to sway views, increase understanding, or score debating points.

I have skipped the last two pages of this, because it is so late, and for fear the thread might get locked. Consequently, my thoughts presented below will be, due to time constraints, somewhat disjointed.

A. I want to say I still agree with Catherine. My impression of Bedazzled has also dropped a notch or two upon learning of this. Just as I tend to think less of the Second Life Herald for devoting so many of their pages to similar nude females. Just as I would think less of the New York Times or U.S. News and World Report or any other mainstream publication if they devoted part of their efforts toward same. I am not interested in nude females, or the environment and mindset they typically spring from.

Nonetheless, I am a live and let live person, and I know this sort of thing appeals to some. But my opinion of Bedazzled has since dropped about a THOUSAND notches after seeing how the people on this thread spew such vitriol over a person because of her (shared by roughly 90% of society in the rw) opinion.

B. Let's take a look at this. A person can have one of at least two opinions:

1. Tossing in nude female AV's on something otherwise admirable sullies the admiration, particularly if it appears gratuituous. This reflects the opinion of myself, Catherine, and others.

2. Tossing in nude females in any endeavor, under any circumstances, is at the very least a totally neutral act and shouldn't be criticized.

Apparently there are those in this thread who believe that one cannot have opinion number 1 without there being something flawed about that individual.

But it seems to me those screaming the most shrilly and making the most vicious attacks are those who are, deep inside, least sure of how right their arguments are. Not to mention least able to take the slightest criticism, or any analysis of how injecting soft-core avie porn - or artful nudity, if that's your take on it, but I do think that is the minority take on it - will affect a respected organization's image and future projects.

C. Someone somewhere pages back said something about working for higher pay for "sex workers." Well, calling them sex workers doesn't obliterate the fact that they are also, actually, prostitutes. You can sugar something up a whole bunch, but that doesn't mean that all your viewers are going to see it the same way. For example, I don't see plastering nude female avies over something as promoting "art". You can scream about it a lot, too, and call all sorts of names and make all kinds of personal attacks, but that still doesn't do the trick of turning a sow's ear into a silk purse.

D. For myself personally, I'm fine with whatever other people want to do. But I tend to avoid people who get all glowy about nude AVs, AV sex attachments, or anything else of the like. It all strikes me as somewhat childish. So this whole thing tells me, as a new player, to put the brakes on any excitement I was building up for Bedazzled's projects. I think that was Catherine's original point, in a nutshell.

You really have to stop the FIC crap. When you have Bub Linden cracking April Fools Day jokes about it, it's just ridiculous! Any serious comments you may have made are lost. Regardless of whatever provocation you must face, you must not lose your street cred.

I also think this whole thread's a moot point. Chinatown is over. Any pictures posted now are just for fun, right? Further, it's not like it was posted as a banner ad or in the advertising forum; it was placed in Snapzilla!

I agree with the thought that the picture is in theme with Chinatown. There were plenty of pictures that advertised Seburo and Chinatown that also did include nudity and sexuality, and that were done during the run of Chinatown.

Catherine, on this point - you could argue that nudity in advertising Chinatown or whatnot is / is not tasteless, but that's besides the point. If they want to put forward that image, so be it. Granted, some people arguing against you have just been a bit abrasive.

Yeah, in the end we are saying the same thing. However, this thread I think in making people very snippy to one another. It seems that the posts are getting ruder to one another. It seems that people are jumping on others because of opinions, and that is wrong. We just need to let it go. Some think it is ok, others do not. We just need to leave it at that.
