As for the issue of the speed of online dating I believe that the reason for this is simple. Here are some of my thoughts:
1. Dating in SL is for the most part written - I have spent hours on a first encounter talking to someone in SL and it is all about communication. IRL you may go out on 10 dates and never cover the detailed and often personal information that is shared in a long in-world conversation. 2. The intimacy is taken to a new level - I don’t know why but as for myself I tend to be much more willing to share intimate details about my life online than in RL. This willingness to share more of myself and others to me often leads to a much deeper feeling of closeness to that person. 3. None of the usual first-meeting hang-ups - Such as her nose is too long, his eye twitches, her but is too big, his double chin is unattractive. The initial attraction in SL is to the brain of the other person. The initial attraction in RL is physical most of the time. Without the physical things getting in the way, we fall in love with the person’s brain first and the rest is of little importance.
As for the fast breakups I would just say that there is RL time and SL time. I would say that 2 day2 in SL spent together is almost equivalent to a month in RL. Maybe even more. So… doing the math, 3 weeks would be like dating someone for about a year. Sounds about right to me when you consider what is shared between the partners and the level of intensity.
Anyhoo, this is my 2 cents for what it’s worth.

You are so sweet... Fred doesn't know what he is missing. I love you my dear friend and there are many others here who do too. *tickles wheeloo*

Anyhoo, this is my 2 cents for what it’s worth. I feel exactly the same, 8mths i was with Fred, but it hurt much more than some of the RL relationships I have been in for way longer. Online you get to know a person inside out, I too am much more comfortable talking online than meeting up in RL and talking then, I take somebody for WHO they are, not what they look like, or what they do, or wear, or any of that. But if that person truly loves you in the first place, or wants to be with you, they won't take your heart, keep it safe for a few months, then chop it into small diced chunks and serve it to you with a side salad of bastige.

You deserve so much more. *snuggles*

From: Lecktor Hannibal Did someone say something about a serving of chunked heart ? *ears perk up* You're too late. Talen and Jake jointly hosted a holiday weekend bbq and had more guests showed up than they planned for. They made do with some of their special recipe Haggis. It was a Memorial Day celebration which truly lived up to its name.

A meal such as that deserves an equally grand dessert. I am reminded of the ladies in the hood where I grew up in. "Come here and give me some sugar. Mmmm. You're so sweet I could just eat you right up!"

From: Lecktor Hannibal Did someone say something about a serving of chunked heart ? *ears perk up* Sorry - couldn't resist in light of the topic. Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on! Didn't I make you feel like you were the only man -yeah! Didn't I give you nearly everything that this man possibly can ? And each time I tell myself that I, well I think I've had enough, But I'm gonna show you, baby, that this man can be tough. I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it, Take another little piece of my heart now, baby! Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah. Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,You know you got it if it makes you feel good, Oh, yes it is. You're out on the streets looking good, And baby deep down in your heart I guess you know that it ain't right, Never, never, never, never, never, never hear me when I cry, Babe, I cry all the time! And each time I tell myself that I, well I can't stand the pain, But when you hold me in your arms, I'm singing once again. I'll say come on, come on, come on, come on and take it! Take another little piece of my heart now, baby. Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good. I need you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it, Take another little piece of my heart now, baby! Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, c'mon now. Have another little piece of my heart now, baby. You know you got it -whoahhhhh!! Take it! Take another little piece of my heart now, baby, Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, hey, You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good.

From: Della Street I allow millions of chances but once that door closes, it stays closed I agree with this. It just takes me a reaaaaalllllllllly long time to get the damn door closed... usually several years if I really loved her. That is unless I was truly betrayed and then I'll slam it as fast as I can and hope it hits her on her way out.

From: Colette Meiji I know many other people who are "in love" after a single nights talking / etc. You know what...I am learning quickly that type of guy is just looking for some hot phone sex... And you are right, that doesn't last even in SL because they never saw you as a real person to begin with...just a cheap fast way to get off ..(and by the way, that doesnt mean the sex was not great )

I would if I loved them and it was readily apparent that they loved me as well, and I wasn't involved with someone else.
Thinking more deeply about, there are a couple who I wouldn't. When someone can say they love you and then be so very cruel, that is nearly unforgivable unless they have a REALLY good reason, which is VERY rare.
Sometimes it's better to be alone than to be hurt by someone who claims to love you.
Owner of a Lonely Heart - Yes
Move yourself You always live your life Never thinking of the future Prove yourself You are the move you make Take your chances win or loser
See yourself You are the steps you take You and you - and that’s the only way
Shake - shake yourself You’re every move you make So the story goes
Owner of a lonely heart Owner of a lonely heart Much better than - a Owner of a broken heart Owner of a lonely heart
Say - you don’t want to chance it You’ve been hurt so before
Watch it now The eagle in the sky How he dancin’ one and only You - lose yourself No not for pity’s sake There’s no real reason to be lonely Be yourself Give your free will a chance You’ve got to want to succeed
Owner of a lonely heart Owner of a lonely heart Much better than - a Owner of a broken heart Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
After my own decision They confused me so - owner of a lonely heart My love said never question your will at all In the end you’ve got to go Look before you leap - owner of a lonely heart And don’t you hesitate at all - no no
Owner of a lonely heart Owner of a lonely heart Much better than - a Owner of a broken heart Owner of a lonely heart (repeat)
Owner of a lonely heart
Sooner or later each conclusion Will decide the lonely heart - owner of a lonely heart It will excite it will delight It will give a better start - owner of a lonely heart
Don’t deceive your free will at all Don’t deceive your free will at all - owner of a lonely heart Don’t deceive your free will at all Just receive it
