Well, I for one am seriously greatful this has occured, just for the fact that it'll allow me and others to vent and show a bunch of strangers how observant and intellectual we are. Because, in the end, that's all that can really make anyone feel good about their lonely existences.

We shouldn't have gone in without the full banner of the UN to begin with. The chaos could not possibly be worse than it is now. Ugh. Thankfully Bush has for the most part marginalized (hey there's that word again ) the U.N. Why would any country loving American want a foreign body composed primarily of African nations to have a say in U.S. foreign policy?????The U.N. is a real piece of work. U.N. logic: Let's have Iran be the Nuclear watchdogs, and let's vote Libya to chair the human rights commission. Hey maybe Kofi Annan knew that his son was busy robbing the oil-for-food fund. IConspiracies are the soup de jour, right?Briana Dawson _____________________

I never said they were guilty. I was just hinting that the Zaquawi killing certainly takes Haditha out of the news. For now, Kendra. However, the atrocity in Haditha does not automatically get cancelled out by the death of a-Z. The truth is, the ongoing investigation and Court Marshall of the massacre will once again spring up in the media, long after a-Z is forgotten. Clearly the death of a-Z is not a reaction to sweep Haditha under the rug, despite the timing. _____________________

No offence Lorelei, but a single article in the Washington post is hardly research and it doesn't say to me anything like the intolerant remarks you posted previously. It wasn't meant to be a thesis, just one example to illustrate the point. It's not hard to find a whole lot more. There is hardly anything in these translations of textbooks that isn't also right in the Koran. I read the entire article and I don't see any rabid incitement to violence or destruction. Yes, I know it's in the Koran. Part of the reason when I don't care for the religion and see it as deeply flawed. Yes, there are similar passages in the Bible, but you don't often see people saying that should be followed to the letter (yes, there are some, but it's not prevalent.) A "Jihad" is not necessarily a war and does not necessarily involve violence, it's just western ignorance to think it does. Not necessarily, but it can and often does. Do you think the Palestinian Islamic Jihad is proposing to wage a war against their inner demons? I think they're out to blow shit up. The comparison of different non-muslim peoples with various animals is kind of rude but hardly anything to get so worked up over that we need to bomb them back to the stone age. It's rude, but what's worse is that they act on it. And that the inculcate it in their children. Like all extreme religous based knowledge it's mean and hateful towards anyone not a part of that religion. That goes for Christians and jews also. Hard core born again Christians believe that anyone not of their faith is some kind of devil or dog or destined for the pit. I could really care less if someone thinks I'm destined to hell. What I mind is someone who tries to send me there courtesy of a suicide belt. The same is true of many extreme jewish groups and all relgious texts contain passages like the ones quoted in the school books to justify that sort of bigotry. But that's exactly the difference. If the same exists in our school books, I sure have never seen it. Have you? If the religious right in the US had its way and Christianity crept back into the American textbooks you would see very similar passages (albeit with reversed intentions) written in those books. You even expressed similar sentiments yourself when you referred to the entire middle east as something less than human or civilised. *shrug* But they're not as civilized. Sorry to say it and I wish it weren't the case. As a side note, not all pictures produced for the media are re-touched either. In fact its a fairly recent thing to do so. Not more than a handfull of years ago most photography for media was non-digital and most of it was not retouched. Malarky. In the old days, photos were croped to suit. These days, photos are adjusted for contrast, sharpened, blurred, color-adjusted, cropped, lightened or darkened, you name it. Usually with no intent other than to make the picture clearer. But to get your panties in a twist because a photo is retouched is ridiculous. They all are. In fact it is the responsibility of the news media to *not* alter images they are presenting as reality and if they get caught doing it huge consequences can result. Again, you're wrong. Photos are routinely tweaked to make them better. I do not mean to imply there is anything wrong with it; there usually isn't. _____________________

But you never say you dis-agree with me. When I said clean up, I ment they cleaned up the body. But the photo looks dated. I would say from 6 months ago. Sounds just like the Dictator to hold on reporting this till just before the November Elections. I don't know enough about forensic science to say either way. What's your training? Oh, and Novembe is a good five months off. _____________________

I wonder what they will do with the body of a-Z.
Will the Americans retain the body? Will his family in Jordan take him for quiet internment? Or will the Islamics parade him as a symbol of martyrdom in a holy war? _____________________

That's it, I'm proposing a Constitutional amendment that allows polygamy so I don't have to choose between Cindy and Briana!
Watching you two double team the SLeft in these forums is what keeps me coming back! I mean it's gotten to where I don't have to say anything because one or the other of you has already said it! But, really, go easy on Kendra. The death of her spiritual leader must have come as a major shock. It's understandable that she's in denial. That said...I'm off to get the new Anne Coulter book! -Kiamat Dusk _____________________

To hint that perhaps he wasn't tied to al Qaeda, or that by some fluke he might actually be innocent is nothing short of an awe-inspiring polemical leap. Don't worry, it'll still be more than just hinted at by some biased and closed minded individuals with an agenda. His significance was not "invented" for the public and to say otherwise is just wrong. _____________________

Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS! |

"Not being PROVEN guilty does NOT make you innocent." Really? Because I conclude otherwise from the sentence "innocent until proven guilty". "And his followers believed he beheaded those men, so it doesn't sound like he was denying it." So terrorists are untrustworthy, evil, dangerous scum...except when what they say supports what you'd like to believe? Musuko. That sentence only applies in a court of law. Even if you can't be proven guilty, if you did it you are guilty. If you can't understand the difference I would LOVE to have you on my jury if I am ever accused of anything. _____________________

Um. We went there to liberate them and turned into an occupying army. They no longer want us there. They're not the enemy. We are. They don't want us there? I have 3 nephews over there, who have said they are often thanked by the people for being there. Course the insurgents still shoot at them, but there are more regular folk then them. _____________________

That sentence only applies in a court of law. Even if you can't be proven guilty, if you did it you are guilty. If you can't understand the difference I would LOVE to have you on my jury if I am ever accused of anything. Actually the most egregious error is that Musuko decides to leave out a key word. It's not "innocent until proven guilty" it's "presumed innocent until proven guilty" which means something completely different. The fact that "innocent until proven guilty" is most definitely not a "sentence" should be the first clue that it was taken out of context. But I would only want Musuko on my jury if I were actually guilty. If I were truly innocent then I would want someone who is a little more careful with the facts. |
