From: Briana Dawson OMFG LOL!! That website made me almost spit-up my kool-aid. Osama has been dead since December 2001 according to that website. So how does that explain the tape Bin Laden released just before the 2004 election that spoke directly about the election? I'm sure you will tell me that it was fake and that you learned it from one of the plethora of 'news' websites you visit. Briana Dawson The tape was fake, hon. It's not exactly rocket science to make one.

"What is ironic? We've seen videotape of Zarqawi wielding the knives that sawed off the heads of Nicholas Berg and Eugene Armstrong."
Has he been proven guilty of that crime in a court of law? No? Then he's innocent of them.
Incidentally, that video of the beheading was nicely timed too, coming right after the Abu Graib prisoner abuse scandal.

Musuko. Not being PROVEN guilty does NOT make you innocent. It just means you can't be proved guilty. And his followers believed he beheaded those men, so it doesn't sound like he was denying it.

"Not being PROVEN guilty does NOT make you innocent."
Really? Because I conclude otherwise from the sentence "innocent until proven guilty".
"And his followers believed he beheaded those men, so it doesn't sound like he was denying it."
So terrorists are untrustworthy, evil, dangerous scum...except when what they say supports what you'd like to believe?
Musuko.

From: Magnum Serpentine I saw the picture and I believe that he has been dead several months now and they are just releasing the news today to gain Maximun impact in order to drive up Dictator Bush's sinking poll numbers. I thought the exact same thing this morning when I heard this story on the news. I don't believe for a single instant that they just got him. I think they've been waiting to trot out this news for months and now seemed as good a time as any. I am so fed up with Bush and his spin doctors, I could just puke.

I don't see how the conspiracy brigade is any better. Your just the opposite side of a coin. Personally I think both sides are wrong, but the arrogance of the liberal side in yelling "It's all wrong, we could do better" while never actually being able to come up with a single workable solution..... well it amuses me quite a bit. Challenge: Find me a way to get OUT of the current situation that we are in that gives us the least ammount of harm and does the most good for all parties involved and enact upon it. Just up and leaving isn't an option. Neither is staying forever. Good luck with figuring this out in a real world scenario.

Just up and leaving isn't an option. Neither is staying forever. Good luck with figuring this out in a real world scenario. First, calling me part of the "conspiracy brigade" is just your half-assed attempt at marginalizing me. Good luck with that. What's really amusing to ME is that every time people say we have no plans --they're either ignorant or lying. There are many ideas out there --but Bush is The Deciderâ„¢. Why do Republicans think a minority party with zero power should fix things. Don't worry we will in '06 when we are the majority. John Murtha has already advanced clear cut plans on this --as has John Kerry, as have a host of retired four star generals. Detailed plans mind you --with times of withdrawl and everything! This isn't a liberal fight anymore. It's an American one. People versus The Military Industrial Complex. We must withdraw our troops to the periphery of Iraq's borders and let the Iraqis stand for themselves.

for one thing the military follows the orders from the civilians, they are not the ones who decide WHAT we do, they influence HOW it gets done. so leave the soldiers out. this is about the civilian leadership, now we did the fight on the fringes idea in Afghanistan and look where that got us

From: Kendra Bancroft it's irrelevant news. That's the problem. the man organized the killing of American's and now that he's gone its irrelevent? you may not agree with us being in Iraq, but don't blame the soldiers who are there doing their jobs. so if killing AZ saves a few american lives, then I think it is a good thing no matter when it happened

From: Kendra Bancroft where did I say otherwise? the part where you say People versus The Military Industrial Complex. that implies that the military ordered the invasion. not the civilians that control the military. that may not be what you intended to say, but thats how it came across

From: pancake Stryker & to Cindy Claveau, okay we get it! you support our troops and you like bush. Yes, I support our troops. Yes, I think our goals in Iraq are worth the struggle. No, I'm not necessarily a Bush supporter -- so how's your stereotype look right now? Got anything else you think is worthy of discussion? From: someone people like you enjoy argueing or what you people would call it "debating". it really gets annoying. just shut your mouth and go watch Hannity and Colmes. Debates generally involve providing counter-arguments without personal attacks -- Kendra hasn't provided anything to support her view, only empty radical polemics. Leave it to you to provide the personal attacks. Your post belongs in File 13, but note that you did everything in your power to earn that distinction. Good job. Next. From: Kendra Bancroft First, calling me part of the "conspiracy brigade" is just your half-assed attempt at marginalizing me. Good luck with that. I'm afraid you've already done that by leading the league in extremist rhetoric around here, Kendra. You can't even manage a position of principled opposition - for you, it's "Bush the Dictator" or nothing. That doesn't recommend your viewpoint very widely. I'm puzzled because there is plenty of room for criticism of the way the war has been conducted without screaming radical leftist slogans and resorting to silly metaphors. I have a hard time thinking you can't do better than that, as smart and creative as you are. Yet you accuse others of "not thinking for themselves", or "not opening their eyes". I think I've seen the meat of your posts on day-glo protest signs at various rallies over the last few years. It's not real original. From: someone Why do Republicans think a minority party with zero power should fix things. Don't worry we will in '06 when we are the majority. In order for that to happen, the Dems will have to ditch their own loonies like Franken and Michael Moore. Until they do, they don't have a prayer of appealling to the mainstream in this country. Know what? I honestly hope they figure that out, because their lack of grasp right now has basically cost this country its 2-party system over the last 8 years. I'd be delighted to vote Dem next time, but not for idiots like Kerry. From: someone John Murtha has already advanced clear cut plans on this --as has John Kerry, as have a host of retired four star generals. Detailed plans mind you --with times of withdrawl and everything! Both plans basically offer surrender. Murth and Kerry would leave the embryonic Iraqi army & security forces holding the bag and will guarantee that there is an extremist Islamic republic in that country within 2-3 years. You don't publish your plans to an enemy. You build your strength so that he can't put his own plans in place before you make a move. Murtha and Kerry are posturing in public, they're not offering reasonable plans at all.

From: Lorelei Patel Do a little research and you'll find much more, but this will get you started. No offence Lorelei, but a single article in the Washington post is hardly research and it doesn't say to me anything like the intolerant remarks you posted previously. There is hardly anything in these translations of textbooks that isn't also right in the Koran. I read the entire article and I don't see any rabid incitement to violence or destruction. A "Jihad" is not necessarily a war and does not necessarily involve violence, it's just western ignorance to think it does. The comparison of different non-muslim peoples with various animals is kind of rude but hardly anything to get so worked up over that we need to bomb them back to the stone age. Like all extreme religous based knowledge it's mean and hateful towards anyone not a part of that religion. That goes for Christians and jews also. Hard core born again Christians believe that anyone not of their faith is some kind of devil or dog or destined for the pit. The same is true of many extreme jewish groups and all relgious texts contain passages like the ones quoted in the school books to justify that sort of bigotry. If the religious right in the US had its way and Christianity crept back into the American textbooks you would see very similar passages (albeit with reversed intentions) written in those books. You even expressed similar sentiments yourself when you referred to the entire middle east as something less than human or civilised. As a side note, not all pictures produced for the media are re-touched either. In fact its a fairly recent thing to do so. Not more than a handfull of years ago most photography for media was non-digital and most of it was not retouched. In fact it is the responsibility of the news media to *not* alter images they are presenting as reality and if they get caught doing it huge consequences can result.
