From: Kevn Klein Hmm, how about this one....
It's a good thing feminist women have a choice to abort the fetus, or the poor child would have to grow up in a left-wing household. Might that be sarcasm? hmmm No. That would be intolerance.

It's a good thing feminist women have a choice to abort the fetus, or the poor child would have to grow up in a left-wing household. Might that be sarcasm? hmmm That might be sarcasm, but this is real hipocrisy in action: From: someone Abortion is a highly personal decision that many women are sure they'll never have to think about until they're suddenly faced with an unexpected pregnancy. But this can happen to anyone, including women who are strongly anti-choice. So what does an anti-choice woman do when she experiences an unwanted pregnancy herself? Often, she will grin and bear it, so to speak, but frequently, she opts for the solution she would deny to other women -- abortion.
In the spring of 2000, I collected the following anecdotes directly from abortion doctors and other clinic staff in North America, Australia, and Europe. The stories are presented in the providers' own words, with minor editing for grammar, clarity, and brevity. Names have been omitted to protect privacy.
"I have done several abortions on women who have regularly picketed my clinics, including a 16 year old schoolgirl who came back to picket the day after her abortion, about three years ago. During her whole stay at the clinic, we felt that she was not quite right, but there were no real warning bells. She insisted that the abortion was her idea and assured us that all was OK. She went through the procedure very smoothly and was discharged with no problems. A quite routine operation. Next morning she was with her mother and several school mates in front of the clinic with the usual anti posters and chants. It appears that she got the abortion she needed and still displayed the appropriate anti views expected of her by her parents, teachers, and peers." (Physician, Australia)
"I've had several cases over the years in which the anti-abortion patient had rationalized in one way or another that her case was the only exception, but the one that really made an impression was the college senior who was the president of her campus Right-to-Life organization, meaning that she had worked very hard in that organization for several years. As I was completing her procedure, I asked what she planned to do about her high office in the RTL organization. Her response was a wide-eyed, 'You're not going to tell them, are you!?' When assured that I was not, she breathed a sigh of relief, explaining how important that position was to her and how she wouldn't want this to interfere with it." (Physician, Texas)
"In 1990, in the Boston area, Operation Rescue and other groups were regularly blockading the clinics, and many of us went every Saturday morning for months to help women and staff get in. As a result, we knew many of the 'antis' by face. One morning, a woman who had been a regular 'sidewalk counselor' went into the clinic with a young woman who looked like she was 16-17, and obviously her daughter. When the mother came out about an hour later, I had to go up and ask her if her daughter's situation had caused her to change her mind. 'I don't expect you to understand my daughter's situation!' she angrily replied. The following Saturday, she was back, pleading with women entering the clinic not to 'murder their babies.'" Becoming a myth? I think this administration has throughly killed and buried it in a hole in the floor of their closet with all their other bones.

From: Kevn Klein Do you suppose a smoker will forgo a pack of cigarettes to buy a pack of condoms? Will a drinker skip a six-pack? That is the question.
The reality is... life is not a utopia. Many people abuse freedom. Many people make bad choices, and we all suffer.
The fact so many abortions are performed on women who have already had one is evidence of this abuse of freedom and bad decision making. And all people who use free birth control drink and smoke! YES! I had some respect for you, Kevn. I think you're dead wrong about a number of things, but at least you seemed to have given your beliefs some thought, and your passion and conviction ameliorated somewhat the annoyance factor. Now I realize that you just employ the same knee-jerk prejudice that I get to see every day, on either extreme of the political-religious divide. This is a clear attempt on your part to indicate that anyone using free birth control is, at best, incapable of making sound value-based decisions, and (at worst), is the classical stereotype 'trailer trash'. Very poor form, and you just undercut your credibility with a lot of people, I think. I'd already learned to tune you out when the subject was ID; now I've learned to tune you out pretty much any time you open your mouth.

I never said anyone using government supported birth control is incapable of making sound value-based decisions. It's smart to save your money for other things when possible. Don't even try to tell me there is no other way for people in need of condoms to get them. Perhaps they use the money to go to a movie, or buy an ice cream cone. They may not smoke or drink, but there is something they can give up for a few condoms. Unless your point is these people have absolutely no disposable income for pleasure/entertainment, your opinion falls on deaf ears here.

It's not a question of providing condoms to "those who won't buy them or can't afford them". It's a question of having birth control and AIDS protection `readily and easily available in an environment that promotes their use without stigma. You don't really want less abortions -- you want to control women.

Yeah, I guess some of them should just not eat or feed their children, or get medication for their children or themselves. Believe it or not, there are plenty of people out there who live WAY below poverty levels. Guess what else - a lot of them have children. Maybe you'd rather they have more children, so they can further less afford to properly feed or clothe them.

Coming from a retail worker point of view... the ones on food stamps and such will spend their CASH on lottery, alcohol, cigarettes, and other crap instead of food for the kids. I have seen it so many times it's disgusting. I am not saying that ALL do, just the majority of the ones that have shopped where I worked. I say we sterilize the entire world. Kevn can be first. You don't really want less abortions -- you want to control women. Ah, so if I don't provide a woman cash out of my pocket to buy condoms I somehow want to control women? I want people to be responsible. If she's too poor to care for children there are millions of great families looking to adopt. If she can't afford condoms she can also choose abstinence. Poor people need houses and cars. They need money for all kinds of things. Are you mean-spirited for not providing those things? Or should a poor person live in a cardboard box and get charity condoms from people who have money?

Or should a poor person live in a cardboard box and get charity condoms from people who have money? "Are there no prisons?" asked Scrooge. "Plenty of prisons," said the gentleman, laying down the pen again. "And the Union workhouses?" demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?" "They are. Still," returned the gentleman, "I wish I could say they were not." "The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?" said Scrooge. "Both very busy, sir." "Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course," said Scrooge. "I'm very glad to hear it." "Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude," returned the gentleman, "a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?" "Nothing!" Scrooge replied. "You wish to be anonymous?" "I wish to be left alone," said Scrooge. "Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don't make merry myself at Christmas and I can't afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned -- they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there." "Many can't go there; and many would rather die." "If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population. Besides -- excuse me -- I don't know that." "But you might know it," observed the gentleman. "It's not my business," Scrooge returned. "It's enough for a man to understand his own business, and not to interfere with other people's. Mine occupies me constantly. Good afternoon, gentlemen!" Seeing clearly that it would be useless to pursue their point, the gentlemen withdrew. Scrooge returned his labours with an improved opinion of himself, and in a more facetious temper than was usual with him.

From: Joy Honey I see you conveniently left out the man wearing the damn condoms... As you and others have stated, men don't get pregnant. However, I think men should buy and use condoms. I think they should dispose of the condom after use to protect himself from becoming a father before he is ready. Some women have been known to use a man's sex drive to push him into marriage.

Well, I'm trying to tune you out, but you did directly address me... I'm not saying that everone uses government assistance responsibly. See, I'd be engaging in a stereotype if I did that, albeit from an opposing angle to your own. I think that I was too vague for you, when I addressed the tone of your message. Implying that everyone using state-funded birth control is trailer trash is why I found your post to be less 'informative' and more 'monkey chatters and flings poo!'. The world isn't cast in Manichean primaries, there are people who really and actually do need and appreciate such assistance and use it responsibly, and you are either wilfully ignorant or promoting an agenda by painting with that wide, elitist brush you're using.
