I am not able to tp with First Look regardless of the bandwidth & any update never seems to tackle this problem

Oh well I take back all my lovey dovey things I said about tiscali.

Nope I never heard of the so called ''fair usage'' term... I log on to SL ( or try ) Sundays Tuesdays and Thursdays - Usually about 8pm GMT

I sometime like now try to grab a couple of hours on other days too... Its like a freaking lottery... I find that sometimes I get in and other times its stops responding when I try to connect to region. Lately I have been heading back into the phantom zone.

I have tried reinstalling several times and I have even tried some of the Slurs...Once with success.

A friend of mine a few miles away has no probs getting in SL using wannadoo/orange.

Trouble is I want an ISP that will give me 8 meg ( I know i can get 6.5 out of it ) and 24/7 free local calls using any socket in the house - Its a massive saving.

Until I find an ISP that can offer 24/7 free landline calls and 8 meg unlimited downloads I fear I could be leaping from the frying pan into the fire.

Like most of you I am really fed up about it all....With work in the mornings I find it so shattering to have to sit by this pc or five hours trying to connect to SL...Then at around 11pm finally getting in....Lets be honest two hours time on SL is bugger all when you are trying to develop yourself and explore and maintain relationships, so what do I do? - I guess like most of you I stay on till 4 or 5am and go to work like a freakin zombie.

Im gonna try the first look wotsit now and see what happens sigh.........I can see me on medicine and anti depressants the way this is going lol ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Didnt bother with first view...Instead i persevered as I was....Got in twice lol just for SL to freeze after about 10 mins hahahahaha.......its driving me freakin do lally tap

Unable to connect to Second Life main client from 4pm-11pm-ish 7 days a week, which has caused me to get little sleep recently, finding myself online until stupid hours in the morning just to get some quality SL time - which I cannot & will not sustain.

With First Look I am actually able to connect during these times, but try to tp and I'm crashed/logged out at every attempt (I'm so bored with saying this at least 15 times a day!). I have contacted Live help just to be ignored, I have telephoned Second Life support in the UK, and hope that they will return my call.

I'm starting to regret ever paying for SL now, as I can't use it most of the time I have anyhow, what was the most amazing experience I've witnessed on my pc online has now turned out to be a frustrating chore - left in the dark with little hope of ever finding a resolution.

If this continues I will have to unsubcribe to reduce the tension this is causing me.

we are all with Tiscali .. we are all experiencing the same problem ..
I have been in touch with Tiscali support (email) .. they send the most irrelevant crap to me (how to fix my Internet connection issues for example).

It is clear they are blocking the regular SL client ... how long before they block the first look viewer too?

Zvijezda has the right idea .. phone the b*stards and get yourself out of high user 'pipe' .. I know should certainly not be there .. I have received no FUP (fair usage policy) emails..

Chang, I keep an eye on this thread because I'm a friend of Zvijezda's, and I've told her a few things for when she's on the phone.

You know at the bottom of most ad's they will say, "Calls may be recorded for reserch purposes" - that fills their obligation of telling you that the call may be recorded. I suggested to Z that she do the same and inform them that the call may be recorded.

That way there is come-back if the issues change again. You are legally obliged to tell a person when you are recording them, and at least you will have proof of what was said to you over the phone about FUP's, bandied in with the higher users, transferred to the lower users section etc, if you are still left high and dry weeks later.

I also have problems logging on between around 12pm and 11pm..

And guess what.... I'm also using Tiscali.

The FUP says that people are only put into the higher band if they send us warning emails, so why do we have to ask to be put into the lower band??

I recently changed from 1mb to 2mb (because it was the same price and they didn't tell me that the 1mb package doesn't exist anymore which i think they are meant to) and didn't notice any speed improvement at all.

Good luck with the complaints and if any one wants to make a petition site that might help.

EDIT: I'm not sure exactly what to put but if someone wants to create one, this website looks quite good.

Seaninio, maybe we should contact Reuters news agency in world to get some publicity for this infuriating situation.

As for my attempts to get Tiscali to acknowledge the problem, today I received this:

I understand ... that you are experiencing difficulty while playing online games during peak hours.

[the] Support Team is aware of this issue & our Network Engineers are investigating it to get the issue resolved at the earliest.

My concern has been escalated they say and they request patience.

(I paraphrase to avoid breaching the confidentiality clause appended to the email)

There's a reason why Tiscali's cheap UK people.

You get what you pay for (well, maybe not with SL sometimes. lol)

SL server side problems aside. I'm in the UK and wouldn't touch Tiscali with a 100foot barge pole. Pipex all the way. Pipex actually own a large chunk of the data pipelines between the UK and the US too and its extremely rare for me to loose my connection with them.

I don't think it is any cheaper than pipex ... what keeps me locked in to Tiscali is the email address and the thought that maybe my next ISP will have some other shortcoming. I have no problems with Tiscali other than this SL thing.

I have been trying to log in since 900am SL time. I signed on around 800AM, all was good, except i had no body (i was invicable) so for the past almost 3 hours i have been trying to log in....i stay frozen for up to 5 minutes, then i get a message stating i need to try again in XXX time.....or that I have issue and it directs me to second lifes page. I have cleared cache, reinstalled.....nothing, rebooted, nothing, WTH is going on? this is so very frustrating!!!!!! Ive called 2nd life, left emails, no reply yet....... and why are my friends logging in and 9,0000 others, but not some of us?????? I FEEL LIKE A GUINEA PIG ON THIS SL!!!!! I have been playing for 30 some days, so i know its not my comp, its SL.... UGH i wish they would figure this out.

and I MISSED MY DATE WITH MY MAN I HAVE HAD SCHEDULED ALLLLLLLL WEEKEND!!! *wipes tears*

Im be trying to log in for over 2 houers now and i keep getting the same message : Login faild.

Same here cannot login. UK stuck outside for hours.
I dont think reinstalling will do any good
I can get an alt in and if I go to the sim I was in I can see myself hovering rock solid. So I have been there for about 5 hours now. The system is not logging me out so I cannot log in
It is a major sl problem. I dont think it is anything to do with peoples ISPs I am with BT on unlimited allowances and nothing happens
It is time that Lindens rolled back to the previous update surely.
5 hours sheesh I have 3 islands to run and a living to make bet they take my tier quick enough.

I am with Tiscali , and having the same problems. I am on 8MB and have had nothing but slow connection times, even when just web browsing.

I have had the Fair Use warning emails and am changing ISP.



Edit note* I have 2 broadband connections, I swapped over to BTbroadband and logged in straight away... Maybe there is something to do with Tiscali... wont be using them ever again anyway.

Oddly enough I'm thinking of switching to Pipex...

Id like to read of some more reports about this ISP before I change though because lets be honest its a pain in the ass changing cos you dont want to be off line at all, although pipe have assured me the process of switching can be seamless.

Usual stuff today....Doddle logging in early hours of the morning and even mid afternoon....now at 9.30pm its the big freeze........my body clock is falling to bits

Slim, yes, this thread is testament to problems at Tiscali.
We think they are totally unjustifiably blocking the regular client just like they do with peer to peer software (for heavy users) during peak times.

I note you are logging in with BT this evening. Lucky you, even the first look viewer wont log in here.

Since you are logging in I guess that means the message on the status page is false.

Ok i rang Tiscali......

I was quiet assertive and made all the points rasied here....That i had reinstalled the modem 156 times, that there was bugger all wrong with my line and that I was convinced it was Tiscali blocking me

Eventually phew they admitted they were increasing the bandwidth cos they had experienced problems in relation to SL.....and other game portals...

They also accepted that they ARE blocking many users between 4pm and 11pm GMT.

Anyways to cut a long storey longer they say engineers are working on the problem, that it will be a week or so before all issues are corrected -- In fairness friends of mine on orange have had probs the past few days too..

Result....£20 credit to my account.....Reduced ticali package from £21.99 now down to £16.99 plus 8meg down load.....Plus more compo by agreement if its not sorted by end of Feb.....

That suits me fine

good work Sandcroft .. we should all meet up in world ... I was beginning to think it was all a plot by .. whoever .. to make us all insane.

I decided now to try second life again, after not being active a half year, and, SL dont even START on my machine, it just crashes. First, it come to "detecting hardware", then it go to nex step, then crash before i even see what it is.

when i started SL again, it did come up, since i was having a old version, but after it patched, it dont work more. Even a complete reinstall of SL dont work.
I got Geforce 6800.

Ill keep trying, and hoping for a patch, or something. Since id like to try SL some more.
