NOTE: Around June '07 Linden Labs turned off BBCode for the forums, rendering link, formatting and file attachment coding unusable (see the announcement at the top of each forum for a possible workaround). However, you can still copy and paste the links below. However, any images attached via bbc coding will not appear. Some tutorials may not be as comprehensible if images are missing, but on a quick scan through, many of the links here are still very useful. I did a bit of scanning and put together the following list of links to great sources to learning clothing design in SL. This list is in NO WAY comprehensive, but should be a good start. If anyone knows other helpful links, please, post them also!!! There are ton's a great tidbits and tutorials here in the design and textures forum (and a few other places)...Robin's Sojourner's t-shirt tutorial Robin's Photoshop Tricks and Tips Jinny Fonzarelli's Clothing Templates Sampler Thread Amber Stonecutter's Tatoo Tuturial Nicolae Escher's PDF Clothing Tutorial Jennifer McLuhan's SL Polo Shirt Tutorial Tod69 Talamasca's Simple GIMP tutorial for SL clothing thread Natalias Zelmanov's blog with clothing tutorials throughout... Some other very useful threads on clothing/textures...Chosen Few's Definitive Guide on Alpha Channels and Transparencies Chosen Few's In-depth explanation of Image File Formats as they relate to Second Life. Robin's steps to using Daz Studio or Poser to check SL clothing Making Attachments (like Hair) Blu Laszlo's Tutorial on Prim Clothing Attachments Jennifer McLuhan's Mini Shoe TutorialThread on making hair (scroll down for the tips) How to Deal with those ugly White Borders that shouldn't be seen on your clothes!! Namssor Daguerre's Free Makeup Kit! for skins Foresti Svarog's Tutorial on Prim texturing (blog) Namssor Daguerre's seamless texture creation tutorial Barnesworth Anubis' tutorial on Making tileable wall paper by hand Whisper Lily's sample alpha channel for underwear thread Links to Image Sites Thread (some images are free to use, read the copyright rules on each site. Twiddler Theireain's Taunt.com with various video tutorials related to textures.Starley Thereian's tutorial on creating wrinkles in Second Style Magazine - pg. 10 Robin Sojourner's overview of using Bodypaint for Second Life textures (second post down). Also, check this site for General SL tutorials: www.slturorials.net Templates:Official Linden Clothing/Skin Templates And, if you're serious about designing clothes/skins you need to try Chip's or Robin's advanced clothing/skin templates: Chip's Templates Thread You'll find a great explanation of using the templates by Chip in this thread. Yes, this needs to be stickied! If it doesn't get stickied by LL, there's always the option of trimming the list a little and making a signature sticky. Not as effective as a real sticky, but better than nothing until it does get stickied. Any volunteers who aren't currently using thier signature?

Hawtness! I'll check with Jeska to see if this can be stickied. Must be GMTA, 'cuz Chip mentioned some of the links too in The First Sticky. All this info, easily accessible--that's the way to go d00dz.

Oh Cool, and I hadn't seen at least one of those that are listed in Chosen Few's sticky thread, so I updated my original post to include it. That's cool that I can update it. If anyone knows other links, please add them and I can get them added up top, too.

Coolness. Two stickies in one month after 2 years with none. Nice post, Blaze, and thanks Jeska and Torley for attending to this forum so well lately.

From: Blaze Columbia Oh Cool, and I hadn't seen at least one of those that are listed in Chosen Few's sticky thread, so I updated my original post to include it. That's cool that I can update it. If anyone knows other links, please add them and I can get them added up top, too. Speaking of which, if anyone reads down this far, he's one link (or list of links) that is sure to result in a very informative read about textures... A list of all of Chosen Few's posts in the Design and Texture Forum !! The link above doesn't seem to be working - it's not for me. Is it my bad bad firewall or is it truly broken? ~Clarissa~

I was just looking for some of these too. I was thinking that for some of the people I greet, it would be good if they didn't have to jump all over and I think we might make an in world place for texture tutorials on notecards. Thanks so much for this compilation.

Hi, texturers and clotherers, and would-be's -- I just posted two complete Photoshop CS2 files for a man's suit with bow tie, 19th century- ish, and some tips I discovered along the way. They're built atop Chip Midnight's templates, of course. I'm not a master by a long shot. But perhaps someone will find it useful! http://davancamus.hexaflexagon.com/blog/?p=31

Wow! Thanks for the great links!
Anyone have a good tutorial on making realistic-looking wrinkles on clothing? I'm having a lot of problems with this...

THere is just one flaw. What about those of us using Paint Shop Pro (in my case PSP ? I'm not the most adept with either program, and there are some functions in PhotoShop that PaintShop either doesn't have, or names differently. I know I'm not the only one using Paint Shop Pro, a walkthrough for making clothes in PSP( would be helpful to me. Otherwise my brain fries trying to convert knowledge (the biggest problem, and yeah I know, I'm a stupid noob, but "Alpha Channel" is the big headache. >.< Otherwise I'll keep frying my brains trying to convert the knowledge, but it'd be nice if someone could help out with some slight details.
