Forum BBCoding was turned off for a yet unknown reason--see announcement at the top of the forum. I did a quick check and most of the links still go to useful information (only had to cull a few), but you have to copy and past the url from within the BBC coding shown in the post.

Until now I have never used Photoshop for anything, and now all I see are photoshop tutorials. Does no one not, use paintshop pro? (I KNOW that program - Photoshop is all gibberish to me)

I posted this link in the photoshop tricks sticky as well. I use PSP as well and to be honest, I am terrible at instructions as to how to do anything.

This link may help it is a Photoshop to PSP translation. Basically translates things that Photoshop does into things that PSP does.

I just stumbled upon the thread I am linking here and it was remarkably easy for me to follow- thought I would offer a link here as well since this is stickied. I searched quite abit before finding that thread:

Here is another great informational thread that seems was resurrected from the dead- it needs an answer but before it disappears into the bowels of the Topic, I want to link it here.

Thanks, Amaranthim. Just a suggestion .... as you or others add links to this sticky, could you include some sort of titling info to let folks know what the links are about? ;)

For the record, your post #54 was to a thread called "BASIC clothing tutorial- making a shirt," and your post #53 was to one entitled "Simple Tutorials using GIMP for textures."

Good I dea- I will do that- had not occurred to me. Thing is - I search for stuff and many times don't find it- then out of the blue- someone does find it- or I find an obscure reference and I end up on some ancient necro thread that really should not have died. I will go add those titles now. Thanks for the idea.

Fold tutorial

Found this link regarding fold etc. Nothing that you can just plop into a file - but then nothing worthwhile is easy.

I'm in the process of making a sequence of tutorials about making SL clothing in the Gimp. The three so far are:

Preparation:

Tutorials for making clothing via Paintshop Pro
02-04-2009 15:34
Hello!

I'm in the (very slow) process of setting up tutorials on how to make clothes in PSP. I never could find any tutorials out there for using PSP to make clothes for SL, so I have laboriously taught myself by trial and error.

At some point it occured to me that others may find this useful so I decided to share what I'd learned.

Excuse the general crappiness of the graphics etc. More will be added as and when I get the time.

Cheers,

Mac

Macha, your tutorials are absolutely brilliant. The content and pacing are awesome. But my favorite thing is the scribbles explaining things. Character and style to already great content. Genius. It's making me nostalgic for my old style of writing tutorials.

Three thumbs up from me.

GIMP Tutorial -- simple version
11-19-2009 06:51
Here is another GIMP tutorial that is pretty simple and easy to understand. It gives the basics of opening files in GIMP, working with the texture, and then eventually saving and uploading to SL to apply to what you are creating.

http://www.redmongoose.net/blog/2010/02/secondlife-t-shirt-texture-texturing-tutorial/

I've decided I'm not going to sell my textures inworld, I'm going to give them out for free on my website. They're all editable and redistributable! So hopefully it encourages people to be creative. =)

There's a t-shirt texture (saved it as a transparent .png) and a tutorial on how to add text and images to it, while making it look like a crackly old silkscreened t-shirt image. A little bit of Photoshop knowledge is required.

I haven't done many tutorials before, so I hope this is at least a little bit helpful. And, if not, there's still free stuff!
