chip ...

your templates are really terrific ...

so its all been said ...

i dont have poser nor dax ...

so, when i make an outfit all my work is done
on psp, and sometimes photoshop ...

using your upper and lower templates
i work all the graphic tricks i can
then upload the final jpg textures and add them as
upper and lower tattoos in Female Shape & Outfit

the point is that im making some tops and bottoms
that cant be customised with SL patterns

of course it takes hours to do this process,
as i upload each step of the way
to check my work and detailing ...
which costs L10 each time i check my work.

a detailed top can get pretty expensive ... heh

however your amazing detailed templates makes the effort
much easier and rewarding, resulting in cleaner and seamless artwork.

im so happy i stumbled across them in this forum

your art, creativity and thoughtful ingenuity is truly awesome.

And a one and a two and a *bump* *bump* *bump*!

This thread should, as has been said far too often before, be stickied!

With my many respectful thanks to Chip for his ongoing thoughtfulness and kindness.

Thanks muchly you guys.

Arsenic, you should definitely download the avatar models and look into using DAZ or Tattoo as an offline previewer. It'll save you heaps of time and L$. Another good trick is to do your testing on the preview grid and only upload the final testures to the main grid. That can save you a lot of money too (and help LL test the next versions at the same time). :)

Wow, wish I had thought of that 200 uploads ago. Can I have your babies Chip?

If you follow SL Boutique link to download them you can get the jpeg versions by clicking on the template thumbnails instead of on the text download links :) Hope that helps. If you still have trouble finding them let me know.

I'm a little late, but I just found this thread. Thank you so much, these are wonderfuly done. I'd been just using the templates SL provides, and these templates of yours completely blow those out of the water. Can't wait to put them to use! ;D

Thanks so much for these. I haven't downloaded them yet but I desperately needed some templates for shading. :)

I just wasted like 300L on a tattoo trying to get the seams to line up :o

I found the avatar models on secondlife.com but where do I get the program to use the avatar models you mention?

Jesseaitui--

You can find DAZ Studio (free) at the following URL:
http://www.daz3d.com/

Not sure where Tattoo can be found, but maybe someone else in the know can post it.

Hey Jess

Wish I would have known you needed the link for those dear.
Here is the one for Tattoo, http://www.terabit-software.co.uk/
this is the updated link as the old site has moved.

Dont ask me how to manuever as I have yet to get that far. I tend to use the preview in upload to see and just use the drop down menu for the appropriate area.

No need to Flux. It gets "bumped" on a regular basis.

The shading layer is mostly intended to show you where the fingernails, toenails, and nipples are, and to help you grasp the hands and feet. The anatomical shading is probably the biggest thing that gives skins and clothing their unique flavors among various designers so I didn't want to give away too much. Be sure to check out the files in the "character" folder of your SL install. There's a bunch of stuff in there that can help you get the anatomy down. At some point I may release a more complete shading guide, but the jury's still out on that one. :)

I'm new to making clothes, but the PSDs just flat out confuse me. Can someone give me a quick tutorial on how to use them (I'm using the upper body one)?

There's an article in the first issue of Second Stlye magazine about how to understand the templates. You can download it here: http://www.secondstyle.com/downloads/Second_Style_April_06.pdf
That should help you understand what it is you're looking at.
