Then it devolved into flaming and stuff.... You know general abusey type behavior....


So far the Linden's havn't participated in us abusing each other. That's good right?

There are a lot of irritating personalities on this forum.

And in my view, Coco does get herself into trouble sometimes, but it takes more than one person to start the shitstorms that seem to circle around Coco.

So bag on Coco if ya want (despite the fact that I find some of your commentary over the top), but the next time a shitstorm circles around Coco, take note of the others involved in it.

I've got a different word for some of 'em, but I'd get in trouble for saying it.

While I also agree that Cocoanut is definitely the star of her own shit storms, I think basing your impressions of a person solely on their postings in these forums to be a mistake. God knows that Cocoanut and I have gone at each other for months over various things, and yes, SHE DRIVES ME INSANE. However, I have also gotten a chance to know the person behind the forum posts, and I'm glad that I have.

I don't think any of us are unworthy of friendship with each other just because we argue over stuff that really doesn't matter so much at the end of the day. We all love SL in various ways, and see it from our own perspectives. I am glad I took the time to get to know Cocoanut, purposely, because then I see her as a person, not just someone to win some game of one upmanship with (though she does put up a good fight). While I doubt I will ever see things the same way she does, and we will probably continue to argue endlessly, I am glad that I didn't just write someone off because of these stupid, pointless forums.

Oh but it's so much funnier when you actually get to read the comments. Honestly, sometimes you'd actually think she believes this stuff she comes up with! But that would be wierd. How could one person be so confused and self contradictory and hypocritical and yet still believe everything they said was right, fair and just? Frankly, I think Coco is a troll very much in the same style as blaze - just to go against popular opinion even if their argument is not just flawed but ludicrous.

Maybe Coco is yet another one of blaze's alts.

Back to the topic at hand - if LL participates in resident abuse I want compensation!

You need to reread Cris' post above.

I don't see Coco as a troll at all. She seems honest in what she posts and sincere in what she says. People are certainly free to draw whatever conclusions they want, but I don't see Coco and Blaze anywhere near alike.

What I don't get is why people feel the need to beat her up (nearly) all the time. Yeah, I know there's a lot of history and her alignment with {he who must not be named} is sore point.

I can dig the fact that people have legitimate gripes with what she posts, but at the same time, I think there are people who seem to delight in giving her shit. And then blame HER for causing trouble.

It's like a Coco post is now a license for bad behavior.

They love beating up on people they don't agree with and derailing/diluting threads they don't like so they either are abandonded by other residents or locked by the Lindens. You'll see several attempts by people to get the thread locked, and to put out poisonous attacks against people that might agree with those that they disagree with. It's nasty.

I can see some folks thinking that it's this, but I don't personally believe the motivation is anything other than plain old bad behavior. Not any sort of organized (even tacitly organized) attempt to get someone banned.

Generally when I reach my saturation limit with forums bs I swear off them for awhile until the desire to kill goes away.

I spoke with Coco in world last night and although I doubt that our ideas will agree, it's easier to argue ideas over personalities when you remember that there is a person behind the forum icon - pixilated though they may be!

Maybe the Lindens shouldn't have removed the "Rants, Rumors and Drama" forum then?

Should anyone care, I've created a new chat room called #freesecondlife on the EFnet, assuming the #secondlife ops don't get the EFnet server ops to ban me totally from the network.

This room will never ban SL residents nor LL employees for what they believe, for their actions inworld(even SL griefers, they can have a voice too unless they are permabanned from SL totally), or if one of the server ops disagrees with them. It will allow everyone's opinion and will only ban people that are there to flood or generally keep others from being able to participate in the channel.

I don't expect a lot of people to show up as they can already join the established #secondlife room, and as long as they don't piss off the #secondlife ops or their friends by disagreeing with them too much, they are fine. But you got to have alternatives, and this will be another of the many other channels that have started in the past.

This thread has outlived its argueable usefulness and as such is being closed.
