Cybersex chat logs: as soon as you put those words in someone's IM or into open chat you can no longer control them

They can post them and do as they like..

'hidden' reviews: I'm sure every food critic goes to a restaurant announcing that they are a critic. I'm also sure that when they do they get the same service everyone elses does and nothing special. Sure..right.. when the world works like that reviews don't need to be hidden, until then, hes doing nothing wrong.

Get over it rose, his chatlogs, his site, his right. he doesn't have to tell you hes reviewing..it would defeat the purpose.

The chatlogger would fall under the TOS. Posting to your blog wouldn't.

The chatlogger would merit Linden interaction. The blog wouldn't.

Remotely monitoring conversations, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without consent are all prohibited in Second Life and on the Second Life Forums.

I can see both sides in this issue, Stroker, but I have to say, if you paid me for an hour's conversation, I would have no problem with your recording it and subsequently using it.

Are you supposed to get permission before taking pictures of other avatars and posting them?

If reviewers are reprinting the words typed by escorts, might that be a copyright violation?

Are there rules about copying chatlogs and posting them elsewhere?

if you are posting them in a gallery in SL then yes. not getting permission could result in 400 post long dhrama threads and a one week suspension.

They were very clear on the scope of their jurisdiction - conversation logs cannot be shared or posted within the SL service and in the forums, that is it. Third party sites are outside of their jurisdiction. I think what he is doing is sleazy - reviews are one thing, fine - but chat logs are taking it way too far. He is not violating the CS or TOS in that regard, however.

I totally agree Chris...LL has no jurisdiction over 3rd party sites, but they can ask him to stop, because it does violate the privacy of others.

At least now everyone is aware what he is doing...notice he did not deny he wasnt asking for permission to post. Let LL sort it out. He is just looking for attention...notice the "victim" stance of the poll? Pleeease...get a Secondlife Degroot!!

In Texas it is perfectly legal to record conversations you have with other people without their knowledge. It is the government who can't record your conversations without your consent, not your friends or cybersex partners. I don't know what the laws are in other states, so it is possible that this person is doing something illegal, but highly unlikely. And, as stated before, this is not covered by SL's TOS.

Email is outside the scope of LL jurisdiction...and obviously they cannot monitor every post/transmission/upload.

But they do have a responsibility to protect residents that DO NOT want their privacy violated from within SL.

This is a blatant invasion of privacy...just because it is posted to a blog doesnt make it exempt from disciplinary action.

LL has the final say as to whether you may use their service or not.

The owner of the site shouldn't be banned. SO what if he is posting sex chat logs on his site? It's not forums, not under LL regulation/TOS.

Let's use another website as an example. Prokofy uses chat logs all the time on his site. No one has bitched about that yet. I doubt the people in the chats with him have given permission for them to be posted on the site.

I see no difference between what sl-escorts does and Prokofy using chat logs on his site.

If you ban this person, then you better ban anyone that uses chat logs on their 3rd party websites.

I think some people have their thongs in a twist because they didn't get good reviews and/or places or girls have been losing business due to this site. BOOHOO.
