sl-escorts.com is about the quality of the services provided by the escorts active in the 3-D virtual world of Second Life. Escorts sell a product. Hence, it’s fair to rate this product and inform potential clients about the value of it. The escorts on Second Life sell their virtual bodies and text. To properly inform potential clients, the reviews should therefore include pictures of the escorts and a representative selection of their written sentences. The text is part of the product. It's what is sold to clients. It's not private information. Do you think the people behind sl-escorts.com should be banned from SL?

Why should they be banned ? I can't see a single remote reason, let alone a ToS violation.

From: Jeroen DeGroot Do you think the people behind sl-escorts.com should be banned from SL? Who? How about some back ground? And is it really appropriate for the "land and economy" section?

Moving this to General, since it doesn't really belong in Land and Economy. On a personal note I think sl-escorts is an interesting type of consumer reports and hope to see more SL consumer reports pop up on the web.

This is economy

This is very much a economical issue, completely not for general. It belongs in this area.

I'd argue more for the in-world politics forum since we are discussing the ethics of such a site, but general is fine for now. Personally, I am not sure of my opinion about this type of site. One would have to be careful about libel, but truth is always the ultimate defence for libel.

It's a blog about one man's sexapades and the women involved. Free Speech, Nuff said. The Internet is For Pron, and SecondLife Is For Sex

Jeroen - What has led you to believe that a ban is imminent? There may be details you're unable to discuss here, but you are free to post the details on your blog. I strongly suggest you do so, so that the rest of us understand why you're in this predicament. On the surface, I'd say - no, you shouldn't be banned from SL on face value. Even though I'm not an escort conneseur , I've found your site incredibly entertaining. However, experience has told me there's always two sides to every story. The threat of being banned doesn't usually fall out of the sky.... there has to be some remote justification for it. What is it, from your understanding of the Linden perspective?

Or is this some weird way of getting publicity? I don't see why you should be banned either, but this is a rather out-of-the-blue thread.

From: Lo Jacobs Or is this some weird way of getting publicity? I would have gone with an alt character outraged at a bad review that links back to the web page. Then a series of increasingly antagonistic posts and wonderful drama about the SL escort scene, etc.

No, it's not. I'll name names when I am banned. People have suggested I should take the whole site offline for a while. Instead I started this poll.

I guess the complaint is the site mentions names and posts chatlog. But that is only applicable to SL's official site. Anyone else: 3rd party forums, blogs, etc, can have their own rules. I don't see how you'd get banned. It reads like a blog to me even.

The author of that site deserves a medal. They got SL an enormous surge of publicity all over the blogosphere. Bravo!
