From: Diamond Naumova Product and Service, learn the difference for one. Another please don't get all feministic i mean come the fuck on your degradeing women further by showing that the only thing most of you are good for in games is sex. You want to hide behind a computer and pretend to a be a stripper fine, but don't expect people to think highly of you or treat you with respect. Respect is earned IMO and someone flaunting pixels at another person just to make a buck does not enter my mind as a respectful way to behave.
As to the person with the BDSM group or whatever just because it is being done doesn't make it right, but i will agree to an extent personal life and acts like you expressed wouldn't be any of my business and i could care less. That is a healthy sex life. Once you sink to the level of charging or paying for it IMO that's crossing the line and i certainly would not tolerate that in a business atmosphere personally. Try and remember there are plenty of places where this is still considered ILLEGAL.
In the end it's great for the "whore, stripper, slut" whatever you want to name it, but overall it's generally bad for the reciever and more so for women in general. All these women fighting so hard for womens rights and you get set back 20 years when the flirty hot blonde takes 20$ for a quick one. Sick really.
Gee i wonder why so many double standards still exist.. oh i am sure it's got to do with women being looked upon as frail weaklings (forget those body builders) or dumb/inferior (forget those senators) instead of sex objects ( oh wait nothing to forget here) Atleast some women with good morals and an ethical attitude can make it somewhere still a hard struggle for the rest sadly.
Enjoy that vacation money sure it was worth it.
Keep in mind these are my opinions which i happen to know are shared with several others, however this specific occasion is not the only target it's this overall attitude in general and the actions in general. I am not saying this one person is dooming all women, but sure isn't helping. Just one thing, how do you know its actually women behind the pixels!?

From: Rudy Morenz Start treating yourself with respect and you'll get it back. Your price is lindens, nothing else -- You lost all chance at dignity when you made that decision.
Sure is. In RL I know if I'm really banging a fat balding white guy playing with himself in his parents' basement.
How is that any different from SL? Most (not all) of the people in this "industry" on SL don't have any real skills and are just looking for some quick cash instead of learning how to do legitimate things to contribute to the community's growth rather than its degradation.
Because one bad situation gets them stuck in that situation, yes. What's the excuse on here? These people could go to a few classes at Teazers. It's their choice to have no respect for themselves, so it's laughable when they demand it from others.
How is clicking a bunch of attachments and going "OOHH MMM OMG MY PUSSY" even close to writing erotic fiction? There's a huge difference between writing a story and whoring out an online persona.
Right, and it saddens me to see legitimate places have to close down because so many people only come here for the sex. Seriously, if that's all you're after then get some porn - at least that's free. There is so much more to Second Life but people just lock themselves inside of this sex community and don't get out and appreciate what's there so it can flourish.
I dont' care whether or not you agree with me -- Get out there and explore what else is available in SL and I think you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised. There's a lot more entertaining things to do than sitting in sleazy virtual clubs. Mmmmm I only WISH i could feel this superior about myself and look down on all those dirty people who don't meet MY standards. Good job! A+

Yes. I propose we relocate this discussion to a club of an on-topic nature to further discuss things in a spirit of observation, togetherness, and L$1 champagne. But not a Gorean strip club, because nobody can tell me what the rules are.

hrrrm..... I think I'll learn how to script my own clothes and not spend my lindens on buying clothes from other people on SL.... I just spent 1000L buying a Catwoman outfit I've been lusting after for the last two months and only could afford to (without spending real world cash) by stripping....

Maybe it's just me, but... The word whore just feels so much more crude than the word prostitute. Like the way a certain word which begins with 'c' and rhymes with blunt, seems crude compared to the word vagina, even though they mean the same thing. Or maybe I'm just old-fashioned.

Many often seem to forget that SL is a GAME. Sure, an extremely open ended and freedom driven , sometimes emotional, sometimes melancholic, sometimes simply stressful game, but still a GAME. People in the GAME, wheter they are creative designers, cunning scripters (yeah, sometimes it takes a lot of cunning to trick scripts into doing what you wnat them to do), evil land barons, suntan lacking vampires, furries, good-for-nothing, club owners, escorts or strippers, are PLAYERS. In any game players have the same dignity, a long as they abide to the game rules. If you don't like anothe player's gaming style it's your problem, but you have the simple, easy solution to turn your back to him/her and avoid playing with him. Strippers and escorts, and other people that somewhat get involved with the topic (i'd like to remind everyone that many designers, scripters, modelers and such use sex just as much in their creations, me included, and guess what, i'm not one little bit ashamed about it, i have fun making them) don't come slamming their virtual bits on your face door to door. They normally work at their club, for the ones that go there because they enjoy it. Both the stripper/escort/*insert worker definiton here* and the client do it because they chose to adopt such a gamestyle, it's their freedom, and you have the freedom to avoid them. But as fellow players they deserve RESPECT.
If you (generic "you", not aimed at anyone in particular) don't respect a fellow player just because his or her playstyle (while still abiding to the game's rules) doesn't match with yours, well, i guess second life is not for you. You might want to look for games with more restrictions in gameplay and gaming rules, World of Warcraft could be a good choice (oh my god... i put "world of warcraft" and "good" in the same sentence... i must be VERY stressed...).

From: Jonas Pierterson theres always the option to log or tp away you CANT be raped in SL you may feel violated, but you can't be raped in game That's my point. You can't be raped in SL. Neither can you sell your body. You can hire out to write erotic fiction, but that's not the same thing as having sex.

From: Jellin Pico Wow, aren't you the pompous moralizing self righteous holier than thou (insert favorite word here)?
I must say .. you really make me nauseous. Thank goodness we have people like you to tell us the difference between right and wrong instead of making up our own minds. As i said it is my opinion, but hate to say it. Plenty of people have issues deciding between right and wrong i don't really care if it's "right" or "wrong" it's a definition of character overall to me. Someone with that low self-worth and that utter inconsideration for the problems they are causing many others to me is worthless. Also please spare me the look elsewhere or don't go there crap, when it's spread all over SL like a virus like this it's impossible to avoid unless you hug PG zones and even then you run across it at times. MATURE != SEX there is far more to maturity then sex and it's sad that so many people can't think past it. Granted that tends to be more a lack of then knowledge of. I would love to go explore SL, but just riding my jetski in a PG sim something messes up i get tossed into the next sim inside a damn house to see gay porn sprawled out on the walls and about hurl it's crap. Are you people that screwed IRL that you cannot think of anything else to do in a virtual world other than sex? If so that is a solid sign you shouldn't be hiding in a game instead you should be trying to fix your life. Think of it this way, would you want your kids sitting there watching pixels strip instead of being productive? No and they won't if you don't let them, but your setting a standard that will carry straight into thier generation. (reason i say this at all is the whole gay house thing happend while i was showing my daughter my cool jetski in open waters in a PG sim. thankfully i saw pictures load and got her to stop looking in time, but sad i can't even let her see me play a game now cause of that stuff happening.)

Getting back to the original post... can we add one more thing? Turn off the chatter of your Xcite attachments. The rest of the club doesn't need to know that "So-And-So is getting lightly arroused" as you and your significant other click away at each other's private parts. As for whether I've found Jesus... I'll run a search as soon as I log on tonight.

Welcome to Reality
07-12-2006 14:44
From: Rudy Morenz How is this hijacking your thread? You are demanding respect from your customers, and I'm explaining to you why it's absolutely ridiculous to expect any. Let's face it, when I think of respectful people, guys that pay for online sex are not exactly on the top of the list.
You're not going to get respect from your customers because they're creeps, and you're not going to get respect from anyone outside of your community because you've made SL into a place where mindless sex supercedes genuine creativity and depth. Look around the internet, not just SL. Sleeze is EVERYWHERE. the vast majority of people with time on their hands don't want to engage their minds, and creativity is a weak spark at best. Its existance in SL should not surprise you. A secret of SL: EVERYONE is attractive in SL...almost no one intentionally makes a fat, ugly avatar. Even those avatars which try to be a copy of the player are idealized. Strangely, because everyone is beautiful, in a way NO ONE is. Thus talent is needed to distinguish yourself. Wild Sex parties in virtual realities go all the way back to TinyMUDs, which were text-based programs with a similar philosophy to SL that flourished over a decade ago. Unlike reality, sex in a virtual world is disease and pregnancy free, unless you want to pretend it happened. Virtual Sex is what humans have wanted out of sex since the 1960s: Sex without consequences. If you want to pretend its not going to happen, and happen OFTEN, you're denying human nature. Quit being so uptight that Second Life is saturated with sex. Nearly 20 years of player-extended virtual reality experiences show it always happens. This doesn't change Purrdence's original complaint: A Lot of people out there are boors, and they ruin things for everyone. Whether its a person hitting on a dancer, or a griefer able to knock you out of the sim, or crash the sim your in, there are many ways to be griefed.

Apparently god said a lot of things, for instance -
In Exodus 33:20, says God, "Thou canst not see my face; for there shall be no man see me and live." God must have been mistaken, or changed: For in Genesis 32:30 Jacob sees God "face to face" and lives. The same for Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and 70 elders, who saw God, and ate and drank with him (Exodus 24:9-11). But not so, says First John 1:18: "No man hath seen God at any time."
James 1:17 says God has "no variableness..." but then, in Jonah 3:10, God "repented" and changed his mind about smiting Nineveh's people. So what are we to think of assurances given in Numbers 23:19, which states, "God is not a man...neither the son of man, that he should repent." Yet this tireless omnipotent God himself volunteers the striking thought in Jeremiah 15:6, "I am weary with repenting."
In Genesis 1:20 & 21, "every living creature" is brought forth from the waters, including every winged fowl." But in 2:19 God brings forth "every beast of the field and every fowl of the air" from dry ground. In Genesis 1:2, earth comes into existence on the first day, completely underwater. Only by the 3rd day were waters of the deep collected, and dry land formed. But in Genesis 2:4, 5, & 6, earth on the first day was dry land, unwatered. The first story has trees made on the 3rd day and man formed 3 days later (1:12-13 and 26-31). In the second version man was made before trees (2:7, 9). If chapter 1 is true, then fowls were created before man. If chapter 2 is true, then they were created after man. Version one teaches man was created after all beasts. The second is clear, Adam was created before beasts. (1:25,27 versus 2:7,19). In version one, man and woman are created simultaneously (1:27) while in version two (2:7,20-22), man and woman are separate acts of creation
Indeed there are hundred more contradictions - as with all religeons - but remember these are veiws of what people say god told them - they may be misrepresented/interpretated/translated or even plain wrong in the first place - the bible is a good book and does show a way of living for the good - but dont take it as the be all and end all
do beleive your beleifs - do live a good life - dont press it on others something that even the writers couldnt agree on
------------

If the only argument you can come up with is that I'm coming off as "holier than thou art", then please excuse yourself from this discussion.
It doesn't take morals to see how pathetic selling sex in SL is. Yes, I understand it's a game and you can live out fantasies with a relatively low amount of consequences (though despite your arguments, they DO exist whether you realize it or not). I've indulged myself in the sexual aspect of SL and by that standard am in no means "moral", though it's only been with one person and it's not involved any monetary transactions.
Nowhere did I say you can't buy other people's stuff. How you made such a leap is beyond me. If you want to buy a 1k catsuit, then by all means go ahead. I'm not saying you have to make it yourself. I'm saying there are more suitable avenues to take to get the money to pay for that sort of stuff. If you say stripping/escorting/etc is your only choice then you obviously haven't looked hard enough or are too lazy to learn something worthwhile.
It takes nothing more than a little common sense, not morality, to see that you're not really doing this for "fun". If you were doing it for the enjoyment of it, you wouldn't have to charge.

From: Diamond Naumova I would love to go explore SL, but just riding my jetski in a PG sim something messes up i get tossed into the next sim inside a damn house to see gay porn sprawled out on the walls and about hurl it's crap.
You're forgetting the little detail that you'd be the one trepassing in that case. If you don't want to know things about someone's private life simply don't enter their house. It's not such a difficult thing to do, you know. I create cars, get tossed around by sim lag while test driving all the time, never once it occurred to me to casually "enter" an house to be welcomed by unacceptale quantities of porn (and even if it happened, i'm sure you can ckick "teleport home" fast enough to protect your oh so picky innocent eyes). From: someone Are you people that screwed IRL that you cannot think of anything else to do in a virtual world other than sex? If so that is a solid sign you shouldn't be hiding in a game instead you should be trying to fix your life. Who exactly are you to judge them? Actually i'd be more worried about a self righteous holier than thou loudmouth that find his fun and purpose in trying to force his personal views on gameplay on others, rather than about some people having virtual fun in a virtual strip club. The latter don't do any harm. The first one does. You have your views, it's your right, and as such you're entirely free and entitled to steer clear from such locations. if you don't it's your choice, and your problem. But in ANY case, you're passing judgement on players that have exactly the same dignity as you, like it or not. Step down from your pedestal please. From: someone Think of it this way, would you want your kids sitting there watching pixels strip instead of being productive? Kids aren't allowed in second life, simple as that. Get over with it. Everyone in SL is supposed to be adult, and as such entitled to chose their own way to have fun while abiding to the gaming rules. You're not in the position to pass judgement. Only the lindens can, and only about rules.

It's rather interesting when the only kind of response you can give is a direct attack at me, you lack any kind of merit with your words and should look elsewhere for your kicks.
Yes i shouldn't be in thier homes, but it happens and the same can say for flying a plane around over a sim and reading someone scream "oh baby oh baby put it in my pussy" it's sickening.
As to the hollier then thou art crap, you know what YES i will say without a doubt i am better then most these people especially the ones that do it in RL, why might you ask i think this? Perhaps because while you sit and pretend to have a clue where i get my morals and ideals i am out risking my life to make sure someone doesn't end yours. Then again law enforcment never has gotten the respect we deserve. As for judgement, i'd love you to use that same line on a judge in RL. Which i hate to tell you a good share of them come right from law enforcement.
Overall fine you want your sex and respect etc.. blah blah want to call it griefing fine, i want the same aspect i DO NOT want to see it outside of a clearly marked club, location and i sure as hell do NOT want to read about it as i fly by a sim. You want it to be "private" make it completely private to where the casual passer-by doesn't have to see/hear it. Or else i want that deemed as griefing and equally punishable.

From: Purrdence Takakura I know someone who is stripping to pay for her university tution fees (which aren't as high as the US thank the gods) who encounters the same attitudes in the real world that I do on SL. It seems that there are a lot of guys that think if a woman takes her clothes off for money, then they can treat them like dirt. A female stripper version of 'Australian Idol' would be seen as sleazy... but if it's one to find male strippers (and there has been one in Aussieland) it's seen as cheeky and fun. So I don't think it's just an age thing, just some guys feel they should get everything they want, they way they want it, when they want it.
But one of my nice, respectful customers put it this way - 'you wouldn't walk into a clothes store and demand they give you free clothes and just because this is a strip club dosen't make it any different.' Well put. Isn't it time we all got over the tired whore/stud debate? What century are we in anyway, people? - Purrlease. In any case - IT IS A FICTIONAL WORLD!!

Reality check

From: Rudy Morenz You're not going to get respect from your customers because they're creeps, and you're not going to get respect from anyone outside of your community because you've made SL into a place where mindless sex supercedes genuine creativity and depth. I am quite profoundly baffled and disturbed that so many people on this thread seem to think that participating in SL's "sex industry" is completely irreconcilable with such things as creativity and more generally using one's skills to contribute to the enrichment of the SL universe. I happen to be quoting Rudy, but I could have picked half a dozen others radiating the same attitude. I have done and am doing both. I love to make creative contributions to our little virtual society, and I have been trying to do so from day one. But many of those creative contributions require skills such as scripting that it takes time to learn, and a lot of that learning is not done by my avatar but by *me*. In the meantime I can just as well have my avatar do something useful on the side. And there a perhaps regrettable but very real economic truism comes in: titillation pays. I have earned more Lindens in 20 minutes stripping than I would be able to rack up in two weeks of camping out on barstools or chasing money trees. That's just a fact of life in SL; I might as well make use of it. Meanwhile I'm learning, and if someday you may enjoy and appreciate the fruits of my creativity, you will do so at least partly because I was able to rake in some cool cash dancing and stripping while I acquired the skills. If it makes you feel good to call me a whore, what the heck I've been called worse. But don't call me a deadbeat, because I'm not, and I resent the implication that I am just because one of my avatar's day jobs is in the sex industry. As for respect, it's one of the guiding principles of SL, and any excuse not to respect others is just that: a shabby, self-serving excuse.
